Youngsters enjoy mini-tennis success

Boston Tennis Club juniors have been competing in a series of under-12s Ariel county events.

And four of the youngsters — Emily Hawkesworth, Elizabeth Hall, Lewis Fisher and Andrew Isaac — all achieved success. Emily was the overall winner of the contest in at Hull, while Elizabeth Hall was playing in a tournament at West Bridgford. After winning through to the semi-finals, she contested a hard-fought match, losing the first set 4-5. But then she won the second set before just missing out on progress to the final by a 9-11 scoreline in the deciding tie-break. However, she then went on to win the play-off for third place.

Lewis Fisher and Andrew Isaac played in the Ariel event at the Tennis Buddies club in Woodhall Spa. Lewis won through to the semi-final stage before finishing fourth. Andrew lost his first match, but moved in to the consolation event and was the winner of this part of the tournament.

The Lincolnshire Mini Tennis League continued over the weekend of February 10 and 11. The Boston boys green team comprising Lewis Wyatt, David Cheer, Ben Hutson and Elliott Bero played teams from Skegness (won) and Eastgate (lost). Boston players Owen Sill and Jack Lawrence agreed to fill gaps in the opposing teams.

In the Bombay Brasserie Junior League, Carl Robinson enjoys a sizeable lead, while Lewis Fisher is among the chasing pack.
