Round-up for March 31 County successes for
club swimmers Youngsters
from Boston Amateur Swimming Club produced some excellent performances in the
County Championships at Grantham. There was plenty of medals success for the
club contingent who contested the annual event over four separate days. Ben, in
his own age group, won the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events, all the
freestyle disciplines (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m) plus the 200m
individual medley and 50m butterfly. Sam Wright, in the same age group
as Ben, won the 100m and 200m breaststroke. Rebecca Price (13), who broke
some of the long- standing winter club championships records set by former
club member and now international star Melanie Marshall, took her form to the
County Championships by winning gold medals in the 50m and 200m freestyle
disciplines, the 200m breaststroke and butterfly plus the 400m individual
medley. Reuben Reed, in his first championships at the age of 9, stamped his
authority by winning eight golds out of a possible 10. He is one to watch for

swimmers won gold medals for the first time at the County Championships. Laura
Swain (11) not only won gold in the 200m breaststroke, she also qualified for
the National Championships to be held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Boston’s

and 200m backstroke events. Meanwhile 14-year-old Nathan Sargeant won the
100m and 200m backstroke. Elsewhere,
