Round-up for June Double first for A-team contingents Success came the way of A-team contingents from Boston
Swimming Club in separate competitive galas. First place feats were achieved in an Anglian League
meet at Boston and a Fenland League fixture at Wisbech. And at the same time there were creditable displays from
the club’s B-team youngsters — first in finishing fourth in the same Anglian
gala and then clinching a share of third spot in a separate home Fenland
meet. In the Anglian League gala, Boston A set off at a
blistering pace by rattling of wins in the opening four races. This laid a
platform for a solid all-round team effort that led to the squad holding pole
position throughout the whole programme. Their points total was considerably bolstered by a total
of 18 race wins. Successes were recorded by: Zak Lomas (100m individual
medley, 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle), Jessica Murfin (100m individual
medley), Sam Wright (100m butterfly, 50m butterfly), Kimberley Van Haren
(100m butterfly), Joshua Van Haren (50m backstroke), Heather Guy (50m backstroke),
Amelia Murfin (100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley), Sam Reed (100m
freestyle, 200m individual medley), Joseph Howe (100m backstroke), Jack
Featherstone (100m butterfly), Joe Morris (50m breaststroke), Joshua Teague
(100m backstroke) plus the squadron team relay. Meanwhile, Boston B squad swimmers also showed some
commendable form to achieve several creditable results, notably four race
wins — these going to Eleanor Reed (50m butterfly), Laura Swain (100m
butterfly), Sadie Haines (50m breaststroke) and Stephanie Goodale (100m
backstroke). Final points totals: Boston A 137, Huntingdon 107, St
Ives 86, Boston B 83, Louth 47. On the Fenland League front, Boston A were never headed
in their five-team tussle at Wisbech. By the one third mark, they had
established a sizeable 15-point lead over nearest rivals Saxons. And this
margin gradually widened through to the conclusion of affairs. Final points totals were: Boston A 160, Saxons 136,
Chatteris 118, Wisbech 88, March 66. Boston recorded victories in 17 of the 39 races.
Successes went to the following: Michael Craven, 12u 100m individual medley, 12u 50m
breaststroke; Ben Warren, 12u 50m backstroke; Jordan Butler, 11u 50m
backstroke; Mantas Knisevskis, 13u 50m freestyle; Jack Featherstone, 12u 50m
butterfly; Susannah Yielding, 12u 100m individual medley. 13u 50m
breaststroke; Morgan Dodd, 10u 50m breaststroke, 11u 50m butterfly; Natasha
Berg 12u 50m freestyle; Kirsty Overton, 10u 50m breaststroke; Paige Royce,
13u 50m butterfly; Stephanie Goodale, 13u 50m freestyle; Megan Sargeant, 10u
50m butterfly; plus the mixed 10u 4 x 25m freestyle relay team and in the
squadron 8 x 25m freestyle. In the B team’s home Fenland gala, the final points
totals were: Peterborough 168, Grantham 124, Boston B 99, Downham 99,
Huntingdon 72. Boston managed to record six race wins. These came via:
