Busy open gala schedule for Boston contingent

 

A 38-strong contingent from Boston Swimming Club tackled a busy open meet action programme at Thetford. There were numerous medal-winning performances and a plentiful supply of personal best times recorded.

 

Boston swimmers achieving top three positions in the three-session schedule that spanned a full day were as follows:

 

Boys

200m individual medley: 12 years and over, 3 Joshua Teague 2:53.90.

100m individual medley: 11 years, 3 Mantas Knisevskis 1:26.24.

100m backstroke: 12 years, 2 Joshua Teague 1:20.23

50m backstroke: 10 years and under, 3 Jack Ross 46.93; 11 years, 3 Mantas Knisevskis 39.28.

100m butterfly: 12 years, 3 Joshua Teague 1:23.57.

50m butterfly: 10 years and under, 3 Jack Ross 50.33; 11 years, 2 Mantas Knisevskis 37.93.

50m breaststroke: 11 years, 2 Mantas Knisevskis 43.57

50m freestyle: 10 years and under, 3 Jack Ross 40.45; 11 years, 3 Mantas Knisevskis 33.84.

 

Girls  

50m breaststroke: 11 years, 3 Paige Royce 43.06.

100m backstroke: 12 years, 3 Molly Wright 1:21.80.

100m breaststroke: 12 years, 3 Stephanie Goodale 1:35.46.

 

Several other Boston swimmers figured in top eight placings across the whole list of 52 different events, each encompassing several section races.

Fenland first and fourth for Boston teams

 

First and fourth place finishes were the rewards for Boston Swimming Club squads in their latest Fenland League fixture.

 

The gala was staged at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Pool complex and witnessed a number of good individual performances.

 

Boston A emerged overall victors with 15 heat wins and 156 points from the 39-race programme. Meanwhile Boston B creditably achieved fourth place overall with three individual victors helping to bolster their 90-point team tally.

 

Sandwiched in between the two Boston squads were Saxons as runners-up and Grantham (third) while Downham completed the meet in fifth spot.

 

Race winners for the Boston teams were:

 

A: Ben Warren (boys 100m 12u individual medley), Amelia Murfin (girls 50m 13u backstroke), Joseph Howe (boys 50m 13u breaststroke), Jordan Butler (boys 50m 11u freestyle and 50m 11u breaststroke), Michael Craven (boys 50m 12u backstroke), Paige Royce (girls 50m 12u backstroke), Joshua Teague  (boys 50m 13u butterfly), Jack Ross (boys 50m 11u 50m backstroke), Rebecca Craven (girls 50m 11u backstroke), Laura Swain (girls 50m 13u freestyle), Megan Sargeant (girls 25m 10u butterfly), Jack Featherstone (boys 50m 12u butterfly) plus the mixed 4 x 50m relay team and the mixed 8 x 25m freestyle relay team

 

B: Frazer Overton (boys 50m 12u freestyle), Kimberley Van Haren (girls 50m 13u breaststroke) and Matthew Coleman (boys 50m 12u breaststroke).
