Round-up for April 28 Patrick makes double national times impression Patrick Ikhena is making a stylish impression in the
water. The youngster was part of a 14-strong Boston Swimming Club contingent
who travelled to Leicester looking to improve various event standards. And he made a name for himself by achieving two
particularly notable feats in the East Midlands city’s high profile open
meet. In the 13 years age range Patrick bagged himself a
national qualifying time in the100m butterfly discipline. He touched home in
1 minute 05.96 seconds to earn seventh place in a hugely competitive final.
And then for added good measure he also registered a national time of 59.14

Club contested action in a keenly fought Fenland League meet. And after a full programme of 39 races at Peterborough,
there was a fair amount of credit for the A and B teams from Boston to
reflect upon, particularly with a few experienced members absent due
to open meet commitments at Leicester. The A-team battled hard to secure runners-up spot behind
the host club who held a commanding position throughout the gala. And Boston
B swimmers also gave a good account of themselves by ending up in fourth place,
just eight points adrift of third placed King’s Lynn and well clear of Ely in
fifth position. Boston A tried hard to keep up with some strong early
points-piling by Peterborough (six wins in the first eight events), but
ultimately didn’t have enough strength to redress the early deficit. However, there were some notably good swims, including
several heat successes. These went to: Boys, Matthew Coleman (12u 100m
individual medley), Jack Featherstone (12u 50m butterfly), Joseph Howe (13u
100m individual medley); girls, Morgan Dodd (10u 50m breaststroke), Natasha
Berg (11u 50m butterfly), Kirsty Overton (10u 50m backstroke and 10u 50m
freestyle), Molly Wright (13u 50m butterfly), Abigail Teague (11u 50m
backstroke and 11u 50m breaststroke), Paige Royce (13u 50m freestyle), Megan
Sargeant (10u 25m butterfly). The B team also turned in determined performances with a
couple of fine race wins in the process, attained by Frazer Overton (boys 12u
50m freestyle) and Harriet Housam (girls 12u 50m backstroke). Personal best times were also plentiful throughout the
Boston A and B team performances. These were achieved by: Matthew Coleman, Abigail Teague
(2), Henry Careless, Paige Royce (2), Thomas Tamberlin (2), Morgan Dodd,
Jordan Butler (2), Natasha Berg, Conor Spinks, Kirsty Overton, Katy
McDonnell-Woods, Molly Wright, Rebecca Ryan, Elvijs Roberts, Lewis Teague,
Megan Sargeant, Joseph Howe, Rebecca Craven, George Needham (2), Harriet
Housam (3), Emma Penniston, Zach McDonnell-Woods, Adam Clark (2), Hannah Macleod
(2), Bethany Pogson, Thomas Sargeant, Pippa Wilson, Georgia Hodgkiss, Timothy
Johnson (2), Sofia Parla, Ben Samra and Thomas Sargeant. Final points: Peterborough 162, Boston A 138, King’s
Lynn 100, Boston B 92, Ely 80. |

Round-up for April 21 A-team dominate and credit for B-squad Two teams from Boston Swimming Club featured in a round
two Anglian League gala at March. And there was a fair degree of success for swimmers
competing in A and B team squads in an event that also featured Huntingdon,
March and St Ives. Boston A were the dominant force throughout and finished
well clear of all their rivals with a 141-point haul to their credit. This
comfortably saw off the challenge of joint runners-up Huntingdon and St Ives
(both 89 points) while Boston B were in hot pursuit in fourth place with 87
points. The host club brought up the rear on 48 points. Race winners representing Boston were: A team: Sam Wright (boys open 100m individual medley and
