It’s victory number four for ‘Comeback Kid’

George Watts, who made a return to pigeon racing only last summer, after a 10-year absence, can now claim to be one of the big-hitters in the sport in Boston. Named as the “Comeback Kid” it seems that he has now re-established himself as one of the leading fanciers with his fourth win of the season in Boston Central RPC’s race from Bishop Auckland - just half the number of wins of his main adversary, John Hardy. *****

Although John Hardy registered his eighth win of the season when he topped the list in Boston Central Racing Pigeon Club’s young bird race from Northallerton, his entry was not the fastest into Boston. That honour fell to Dave Henry but the bird he clocked was not entered with the club, but only in Peterborough and District Federation.

While John’s winner returned a velocity of 1401 yards per minute, Dave's Fed-only bird was doing 1404ypm.

There is a maximum entry of 24 birds with Boston Central in young bird races but any above this can be entered with the Federation only. Twenty-one members sent 425 birds to the club race, and another 123 birds were entered into the Federation only. Some consolation for Dave, who has been only a small margin away from winning on several occasions this season, was that his second pigeon was runner-up in the club race.
