Taz B 24, Bridge View Flyers A 26: Bridge View Flyers had a good night, their A and B teams both winning their first matches of the second round. This match had promise of being close but the first quarter showed predictions to be a bit wide of the mark. Taz B had a seven-goal lead going into the second quarter, leaving Flyers a lot of work to do. Both teams were consistent and accurate in their passing, making almost every throw and catch count. Flyers pulled together in the second quarter and pulled the gap back to only trailing by two goals at half-time. Accurate shooting from both ends meant goals being scored but the defence of Rachel Moore and Penny Martin for Flyers proved hard for TAZ B. The third quarter ended even-stevens, meaning both teams went into the last 12 minutes with something to prove. The last quarter was not short of excitement with the goals being exchanged one-for-one and neither team managing to gain much of a lead. The bell went with Flyers just ahead. Both teams played well and hard to make for an enjoyable game. Players’ player for Taz B was Jenni Booth and for Flyers A it was Dannie Stanbury.

Bullettes 33, Spalding Sparks Green 23: Players’ player for Bulettes was Becky Barker and for Sparks Green it was R Davidson

Gems II 12, Taz B 11: Players’ player for Gems II was Vicky and for Taz B it was Jenni Booth

Bridge View Flyers B 24, Donington 5: Bridge View Flyers B did not disappoint with a strong game against Donington. After a season or two of getting together, Flyers are looking a team now with some stability in the line up. Donington, still in their first season as a new line-up, saw their hard work beginning to show. Flyers took the lead in the first quarter by three goals. The second quarter saw them build on this advantage with an eight-goal lead at half-time. Helped by the accuracy of Lucy and Sophie Kidby in the circle, Flyers were off. Donington fought hard with centre Mel Briston making a strong link end-to-end. Flyers continued to take a hold and finished 19 goals ahead, giving them a big confidence boost. Donington, however, scored five times which is their second highest score so far, showing they are on the up. Players’ player for Flyers B was Kelly Thomas and for Donington it was Mel Bristow.

BHS Under 18s v Boston A
After a slow start, there was fluid netball from both teams. Goals were scored at both ends. Both teams were working well from the centre pass with Boston A capitalising to take a quarter time lead of 8-2. Boston’s circle work continued in the second quarter with Lynne Evans using her height advantage to convert some skilful feeds into the circle into goals. Half time score was 19-4 to Boston A. Although BHS Under 18s had some breaking plays Boston A continued to pull away for a 23-5 lead. In the final quarter, the Under 18s continued their flowing play and managed to convert some attempts at goal. But unfortunately it was not enough and Boston A took a convincing 25-9 victory.

Gems II v Boston B
The first quarter saw Gems scoring seven goals to Boston’s three. Gems’ Emily Jakeman scored well and showed skill. Boston’s defender Emma Beck was working hard against the accuracy of the Gems side. The second quarter saw Gems score five goals to Boston’s two. In the last quarter Gems still played well although Boston Ladies B fought hard. Gems’ Kelly Slater managed to intercept a lot of centre passes as her team grabbed a 24-5 success.
