BHS U16s 17
Boston Juniors 6 Boston Juniors consists of
mainly the 14-year-old BHS girls and they held out well with an evenly
matched first half score of 5-5. The second half saw some good shooting from
U16s, meaning that although the Juniors had ball possession, the scoring gap
widened to give U16s the win. Gems I 9 Black Bullettes 4 Gems started with a strong
game with the defence and attack doing well. Gems’ shooting, though, was a
little off target compared to usual, meaning their centre court worked hard
for opportunities. Bullettes struggled to get through Gems’ tight defence and
managed just one goal by half-time to Gems’ five. Bullettes pilled together
in the second half to score three more goals to Gems’ four but the damage had
been done. A good game. Bridge View Flyers A 16 Bridge View Flyers B 8 The A team played the whole
game with six players to the B’s seven. The B team started badly with
problems due to long nails. They came back, though, and the scores were
nearly level at half-time. The A team had to lift their game and concentrate
while the B side came kept battling. Good shooting from the B team shooter
Penny and Jo who both seem to be finding the net more often. The B team
managed to hang on to a point, though, by scoring half the A team’s score.
Flyers A are still playing well. Other results: Sparks Junior 8, BHS U15s 4 Donington 12, BHS U15s 5 Bridge View Flyers A 18, BHS

Spalding Sparks Junior 10 BHS U16 6 A close game with good play from both sides. U16s took an early
2-0 lead, which seemed to move Bridge View Flyers B 7 Donington 5 A good close game. The new Dons showing excellent form for a
newly re-formed team. A mixture of the old Dons and some new players showing
good potential. Dons’ shooter Donna on form scoring well from the circle
edge. Flyers lead 5-2 at half time and made some team changes. Donington
defence meaning Flyers finding it hard to convert centre court play into the
circle. Flyers showed good form and took the win. Bridge View Flyers A 12 BHS U15s 8 Both teams set off well with the U15s showing their usual
enjoyment of the game. Flyers A played well despite a few team changes.
Half-time saw Flyers leading by only one goal and the U15s’ shooters
seemingly unable to miss and on really excellent form. The second half saw
Flyers use short passing, meaning the U15s struggled to intercept the usual
lobs. School managed one goal in the
second half with the more experienced Flyers settling and taking the win. A
good game from the youngsters who continue to remind the older teams they
can’t relax! BHS U15s went on to beat Boston Juniors 30-4 despite having two
games in a row. Gems I 10 TAZ 8 An even and steady start with both teams trying to keep the
score up and the pace getting faster. Both teams were evenly matched although
Gems picked up towards the end of the first half when they led 6-4. Gems
started well scoring the first goal but TAZ retaliated with a few of their
own. The gap was too big and both scored 4 goals each in the second half. For week ending May 16
Spalding Sparks A 17 Boston have mixed teams this summer, meaning the team is not the
usual Boston line-up. But the youngsters are learning fast from their experience.
Spalding Sparks put out their usual team. A very consistent game with
excellent defence from Spalding Sparks Juniors 15 Bridge View Flyers B 8 Sparks’ youngsters are beginning to show some polish to their
game. Flyers B were just not able to get off to a good start and struggled to
make accurate passes. TAZ 13 BHS U17s 4 Previously the U17s had won both their matches but the clash
with TAZ was to change that. Possession was very much equal in the first half.
BHS working their way through the TAZ defence to score one in the half but
TAZ scored four. The second half saw TAZ’s attack coming on strongly with BHS
applying their defensive skills well. TAZ showed how to convert passes into
goals and sadly the U17s missing out because of minor errors. Other scores: BHS U16s 15, BHS Staff 0 Gems II 6, Boston B 10 TAZ 14, D Birds 9 Gems I 12, Gems II 6 BHS U18s 8, Sparks B 6 Bullettes 29, Boston A 2 BHS U15 10, Sparks Jnrs 6 BHS U17s 12, D Birds 6 |

Sparks B 8 Flyers
set the standard for the evening with victories for their A and B teams.
Despite starting one player short, Flyers had the first centre, catching
Sparks unaware with a cracking goal from Jane Hudson. Flyers were consistent
in the first half with good defending from Debbie Winrow at GD. Sparks had
some good shots when they were able to create openings. Half-time score was
9-2 to Bridge View Flyers. The second half saw Sparks swapping players and
Louise Bryan moving from keeper to goal shooter. Flyers still worked well
against excellent defending from Selina Mansfield. Sparks scored more goals
second half but could not catch up.
Bridge View Flyers B 8 Boston Juniors 1 Flyers B will hope this win
will set them up with some more successes. New player Abbi Tilly took part in
her first match with the team. The first half saw few goals from either team
with close and competitive play by both sides. Juniors had good defence but
silly mistakes hindered their progress. The potential for such a young team,
however, is showing. Half-time score was 2-0 in Flyers’ favour. A team change
for Flyers in the second half due to injury brought on an experienced centre
court player. Flyers worked well in the second half, resulting in more goals
scored. Boston Juniors fought well with the GD playing well and making some
cracking interceptions. Both teams look to be on the up. Boston Ladies 14 Gems I 7 The first half saw Boston A
take an 8-2 lead in a closely fought contest. Both teams showed the fast
passing and accurate footwork expected from two of the top sides in the
league. Boston were able to make some excellent interceptions. The second
half saw Gems upping the pace and making good use of loose balls. But they
were unable to claw the score back by converting more goals. An enjoyable
game to watch. Other scores: TAZ 13, U17s 4 BHS U16s 9, BHS U15s 4 Spalding Sparks Juniors 25,

For week ending May 2 BHS U17s 17 BHSU18s 6 A great result for
the gutsy U17s who showed terrific character on court. The U18s were late on court,
giving the U17s a lucky break and the lead in the first half. The U18s
returned and upped the pace but the U17s worked hard to leave the half-time
score 10-1. The second half saw the U17s’ Danni Frankish almost unable to
miss a shot. With Toni Talbot and Steph Rance in defence the U18s were
struggling to catch up giving the U17s the win. BHS U16s 19 Bridge View Flyers
B 7 A fast start saw
the U16s settle into an established routine early on, creating goal
opportunities that were converted giving them a substantial lead. Bridge View
Flyers tried desperately to find their feet and gel together as a team fought
well. They gained possession and made some good interceptions but the U16s
were too strong. Spalding Sparks B

possession in the first half by showing good teamwork. Other results: Boston B 21,

For week ending April 25 Boston Netball
League’s summer season has started with 18 teams in three divisions. The summer
charity tournament is on Sunday June 29. It is slightly different this year
with the league teams splitting up. People will enter as individuals and
teams will be made of four league players and three non-league players.
Opportunities to play with friends are still available simply by staring on
the entry form. We hope this method will encourage those who cannot get 7
together or who do not have the confidence to enter a whole team to still
have a go. Details are available from Deb Wing on the dbird13@tiscaly.co.uk email address or by telephoning 07903 390427 BHS U16s 24 The under-16s took
an early lead with some good moves and passing. Boston Juniors were working
hard to score a goal at 0-3. The game was fast paced and the Juniors managed
to score three but the U16s zoomed ahead to finish the first half 11-3 up.
Juniors’ defence worked really hard with their GD making a difference. The
second half saw the Juniors still trying hard and scoring another three. The
U16s, however, showed experience and beat the Juniors. A good game between
the teams for the beginning of the season. Spalding Sparks B
15 TAZ 12 Spalding took an
early lead with TAZ trying hard to pull back. TAZ finished the first half 6-5
up. A good evenly matched game between
the two teams. Good defence from TAZ, but Results: Boston B 13, Black
