January 2007

The ladies’ section at Boston West Golf Centre played two competitions during January — the monthly medal and an alternative medal contest. Weather conditions prevented the January stableford from being staged.

In the alternative medal event, the elements took a downward turn throughout the duration of the competition. But Anita Cross produced a consistent performance to finish with a score of nett 72. Three days later a severe downpour greeted another group of intrepid players and none was able to better the score set by Anita.

In the second round of the winter league competition, 16 players took to the course facing cold and windy conditions and scores were such that those involved won’t care to retain them much further into the event. Barbara Vipond and Cherith Needham managed to take first place with 29 points. Overall, this puts Barbara in first place with 31 points while Millie Miles is second on 29.5 points.

Hopes are high that February will be kind enough weather-wise to enable all the regular competitions to be held along with the first round of the Daily Mail competition against Tydd St Giles and the third round of the club winter league.
