2005 REPORTS ROUND-UP December
2005 Proceeds from the annual charity golf day for the Katie
Clarke Memorial Fund was held at Boston West Golf Club are now known. The
event was well supported during the summer and sponsored by B D Hazelwood of
Fenland Fastenings. A cheque for £2,360, which included £350 raised by staff
and customers of Fenland Fastenings, was handed over at Boston West Golf
Club. Thanks went to the committee, Fenland Fastenings and the Grant family
for organising the event to raise money for children’s brain tumour research.
The next golf day is on Thursday August 17. Anyone wishing to take part can

2005 THERE was a full house at Boston West Golf Centre for the
annual presentation night. The winners of the main competitions played throughout
the years, received their trophies. Following an excellent meal and
presentations, the evening was rounded off with a disco and casino tables
that were provided and run by Sleaford Lions. Winners of the main ladies’ trophies were: Winter League,
B Vipond and S Gibson; Bunny Bowl, V Aspland; Autumn Cup, H Devereux; Swan
Song, T Harrison; Rylott Salver, S Gibson; Club Champion, V Phillips. G and A Chilvers won the mixed knockout. A Keogh and D
Rowland won the men’s foursome knockout. A Keogh also won the M Haq Knockout
competition, and the order of merit, which was based on the best six scores
throughout the year in the medal competitions. The winners of the men’s competitions were: Monty Trophy,
D Rowland, A Keogh, P Howden, M Melton; Winter League 200405, A Page, W
Laing; Prestige Cup, P Revell; Gordon Wakefield Trophy, P Revell, C Rolfe;
Lynas Vokes Shield, J Van Haren; Presidents Putter, a Field; captain’s day, T
Medlock; Master Champion, D King; Rabbits Champion, K Chamberlain; and the
Club Champion, A Keogh. With the golfing season now slowing down the main interest is in the winter league. After three rounds of better ball stableford the leaders are C Rolfe and P Revell with 119 points followed by G Mews and G Chilvers on 117 as are A Keogh, D Rowland. October
2005 The County League Division Three team of players from Boston West Golf Centre’s ladies’ section have won their championship title and now step up to Division Two next year. Congratulations are extended to all concerned. The last two matches of the season were played. At home to Kenwick Park Golf Club, Boston West lost by 2½ to 1½. Away to Sudbrook Moor Golf Club the team fought out a close match, which was eventually halved. Sarah Gibson won the singles knockout. Runner-up was Vangie Phillips. Tracy Harrison won the swan-song competition. September

Upsall, R Roberts, halved; B Featherstone, B Cooper, won 2 and 1; K Boothby,
M Campion, won 2 up. Match away to Kirton Holme, lost 3-5: P Sheppard, B
Featherstone, halved; J Walker, P Tracey, won 4 and 3; K Boothby, D Brown,
lost 1 down; J Barnes, B Wilkinson, lost 1 down; G Upsall, G Green, halved; T
Dorling, B Curtis, lost 1 down; N Smith, J Watson, lost 1 down; M Campion, J
Mitchell, won 3 and 1. Katie Clarke charity event: A successful day saw 42
teams of four taking part. This event was organised by the Boston West
seniors. Prizes for the seniors went to D Marshall, H Maddy, J Walker and D
Veal’s team in the twos competition. Monthly medal results: 1 B Curtis 94-26-68; 2 J Barnes
88-19-69. Elsewhere Geoff Upsall won the Lincolnshire Past
Captains’ Trophy at Gainsborough. |
