LATEST NEWS ROUND-UP

Thu August 17

Discount deal number four is unveiled

Another busy week has unfolded on the Boston United Supporters’ Association front. Chairman Dale Allitt has this week announced a fourth discount tie-up with a local business. This time a 10 percent reduction for BUSA members (on production of their affiliation card) has been negotiated on purchases from the Chris Cook Printshop in Main Ridge, Boston.

Dale said: “We are trying hard to give members as many benefits as possible. And the discount links we are agreeing means we are forging ever-stronger links with the community. Hopefully the deals we have struck will be beneficial to all parties. And the latest one with Chris Cook Printshop also gives our members the chance of getting some discount on things like numbers and letters printing costs on any United replica shirts they may buy.”

The link with Chris Cook Printshop follows earlier ties sealed with the Creations Gym at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex, the Goodbarns Yard restaurant and Topps Tiles.

Tue August 15

Fans’ group going to the dogs!

BUSA officials are organising a Friday September 22 trip to a greyhound racing meeting at Peterborough.
A choice of two entry packages has been drawn up, both of which include coach travel, entry to the stadium, a racecard, a free drink and two £1 bets. The first, costing £22.50 for members and £25 for non-members, also includes a basket meal. The latter package (£30.50 members, £33 non-members) features a two-course sit-down meal with waitress service for drinks and bets.

Dale said: “As things stand we are planning to take a 46-seater coach. And already more than half of the places have been booked. We would urge anyone interested in coming along to book as soon as possible for what promises to be a really good night out.” Bookings can be made via the ticket office at the York Street end of the Staffsmart Stadium or via BUSA representatives in the Sports Bar before and after home United fixtures or in the ground (wearing clearly designated BUSA T-shirts) on matchdays.

Fri August 11

Tiles firm tie-up is announced

Another discount link has been established for the benefit of Boston United Supporters' Association members. The group has announced a tie-up with Topps Tiles of Hamilton Way Industrial Estate, Boston (retailers of floor tiles, wall tiles and wooden flooring) for a 10 per cent discount on all purchases on the production of a valid BUSA card.

Association chairman Dale Allitt said: “This is one more example of us establishing good working relationships with businesses in the town. And thanks go to John Rayner at Topps Tiles for helping to set up this latest link. Football is a community-interest sport and we as a supporters' group are working hard to try and foster as many links as possible - all the time mindful that our members will be putting something back into the community by supporting our partners.”

Already BUSA has established other discount agreements with the Creations Gym at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Pool complex and the Goodbarns Yard restaurant in Wormgate.

Fri August 04

Dine out at discount prices with BUSA

One more benefits string has been add to the Boston United Supporters’ Association bow. Group officials have agreed a discount deal with local pub and restaurant Goodbarns Yard for 10 percent off the cost of meals at the establishment.

BUSA chairman Dale Allitt said: “It’s more good news for our association members. We’ve had success talks with the management at Goodbarns Yard and hopefully the link-up will be a success for both parties. It’s just another tie-up we have managed to agree with local enterprises and follows the deal we announced last month in conjunction with the Creations Gym at the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex. And we are exploring other avenues locally for similar discount links. In respect of the deal with Goodbarns, the venue management will shortly be writing to all BUSA members to explain how the arrangement will work for the duration of this season's membership.”

Elsewhere on the BUSA front, United fans in general are reminded that raffle tickets to win a replica Lee Canoville shirt will be on sale tonight (Wednesday) in the Sports Bar before kick-off against Peterborough with the draw being made at half-time. And tickets to win a Tim Ryan shirt (draw at the interval in Saturday’s match with Darlington) will also be available.

Tue July 25

Chance to win a first team shirt

BUSA officials today announced details of a special raffle to be drawn at each of the Pilgrims home fixtures during the 2006-2007 season. A limited number of 150 tickets priced at £1 each will be available from BUSA representatives in the Sports Bar before and after home matches. All tickets sold will then go into a draw for an authentic named and numbered replica first team shirt for each of the United first team squad members on a rota basis.

First shirt to be raffled will be that of Lee Canoville at the August 9 home game against Peterborough. BUSA chairman Dale Allitt said: “It’s an exclusive deal for Boston United fans but we will be selling only 150 tickets each time on a first come, first served basis. The prize is a good one and offers people the chance of getting their hands on a great piece of Boston United memorabilia.”

Tickets will be sold for each specific match up until kick-off time with the additional opportunity of buying tickets for the subsequent draw at the same time, a policy that will span the whole season. Tickets for the first draw will be on sale before and after United’s home pre-season friendly against Birmingham on Monday July 31.

Sun July 23

Free entry chance for under-10s at United home matches

There’s a renewed drive being launched to make young Boston United fans aware of a scheme that offers under-10s free admission to the Pilgrims’ home League Two games over a full season.

BUSA officials, working in tandem with the Boston United Football in the Community scheme, have today outlined the benefits of signing up for the Mini-Pilgrims, an initiative that also offers the children in question free junior membership of BUSA (with all associated benefits) and the bonus of receiving a free United replica first team shirt on his/her 10th birthday to be presented by the youngster’s favourite player.

BUSA chairman Dale Allitt said: “In the past United have often been accused of not being child-friendly when it comes to admission into the Staffsmart Stadium. But the Mini-Pilgrims venture we have worked on with Brett Whaley in the Community office represents amazing value and a fantastic way of hopefully getting youngsters to come and watch United in action.

“The only outlay is a one-off seasonal membership fee of £10 payable when the relevant application form is returned. And all the rest is completely free. Effectively, the under-10s are eligible to get nearly everything for virtually nothing. We think it’s a fantastic initiative and one we are all too keen to bang the drum about.”

For details of how to join, see the Mini-Pilgrims section (above) or call in at the United ticket office at the York Street end of the Staffsmart Stadium.
