Boston Town sank to a slender reverse to wrap up their latest UCL campaign. They went down 2-1 away to Wellingborough Town in their concluding outing of what has been a largely disappointing Premier Division campaign. The Poachers fell behind to an early goal by Ryan Cherry, who then settled the issue with a second strike on 65 minutes after Paul Jones had briefly levelled for Boston five minutes earlier.

Boston Town slipped to a somewhat unfortunate home 2-1 loss against Peterborough North Star. It was a match in which Lorand Borbely gave the Poachers an eighth minute lead — an advantage they held until the 75th minute when the visitors levelled through Avelino Vieira. Then, 11 minutes from time, the game was turned on its head when Star grabbed what proved the winner via Ali Nyang. Boston’s disappointment was compounded by the fact that a Craig Parker drive rattled off the Star bar while the same player also incurred a red card late on in proceedings

Boston: Ben Martin, Shane Clancy, Sam Kirton, Shaun Baker, Michael Wood, Bradie Blankley (Michael Neaverson), Paul Jones, Tom Ruck, Nick Brown, Craig Parker, Lorand Borbely.

Boston Town suffered a heavy home mauling at the hands of in-form title favourites Long Buckby in their penultimate home UCL match of the season. The visitors ran out decisive 7-1 winners over a somewhat makeshift Poachers outfit for whom Tom Ruck salvaged a crumb of consolation with a goal in the 78th minute. But by that time, Buckby had netted five times via Richard Bunting (penalty), Mark Hewitt, Fazel Koriya (two) and Russ Dunkley. And even at 5-1, Buckby kept pressing forward and added two more goals inside the final 10 minutes by Michael Byrne.

Boston: Chris Wright, Shane Clancy, Sam Kirton, Bradie Blankley, Michael Wood, Mark Foster, Ben Reeson (Tom Ruck), Michael Neaverson, Gary Bull. Lorand Borbely, Craig Parker.

Boston Town slipped to a derby day defeat away to county rivals Deeping Rangers—despite seizing the initiative of a goal by Lorand Borbely inside the opening minute. But the home side fought back after the break to claim maximum UCL Premier Division points by virtue of goals from Ciaron Holt (56 minutes) and Ashley Stevens (75 minutes) — although Poachers’ veteran front man Gary Bull missed the chance of putting town back in from midway through the second period when he failed to convert a penalty.

Late goal heroics fired Boston Town to a derby-day success over county rivals Sleaford Town. The Poachers netted three times in the second half to overturn a first period deficit — two of their decisive strikes coming in the final few moments. Sleaford went ahead with a goal on 36 minutes when Ryan Oliver hit the target. And that’s the way things stayed until the 67th minute when Lorand Borbely levelled matters. The home side — who had the distress of seeing defender Damon Tunnicliffe stretchered off with a suspected broken leg (the match being held up for nearly an hour for medical treatment) — slipped to an eighth straight loss when Gary Bull netted in the 9oth minute and then Bradie Blankley added a third deep into stoppage time.

Boston Town suffered a second successive away loss in the United Counties League when they slipped to a 3-2 loss against Daventry United. The Poachers are currently having to field a somewhat experimental squad during the run-in to the end of what has been a disappointing campaign. And here again, their team of mixed strengths took a sixth minute lead through Jammal Shahin only for Daventry to level through Joel Young in the 40th minute. United took a grip on the game with a goal on the hour by Will Briscoe and another by Tom Lorraine six minutes later. Town’s Tom Ruck got on the scoresheet on 72 minutes to revive Boston hopes. But they were unsuccessful in attempts to net a point-saving equaliser.

Boston Town crumbled to a decisive away reverse when they finished on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline at high-flying St Ives. The defeat was the Poachers’ 13th of the UCL season. St Ives went ahead on 15 minutes with a goal by Junior McDougald. Boston hit back with an Adam Abell leveller, but the home side went into the interval with a 3-1 lead courtesy of two strikes by Aaron Last. And two goals by Conor Washington within four minutes of the start of the second half put a seal on things. At 5-1 down with 40 minutes to play, Boston at least took a crumb of consolation from the fact that they conceded no further goals in the game.

Veteran front man Gary Bull was Boston Town’s match-winning hero with the all-important goal that gave them a slender, but deserved, UCL success away to AFC Kempston. And, more impressively, the strike remarkably gave Bull his 200th goal in Poachers’ colours — a truly remarkable feat by the former Nottingham Forest man. His goal came in the 21st minute and was enough to give Boston their first win in eight outings while at the same time sentencing their hosts to a fourth straight Premier Division loss.

Boston Town ended a mini-sequence of three straight defeats — but they will be disappointed to have seen maximum UCL points slip when home midfielder Danny Rogers conjured a last-minute equaliser. Up to that stage, Boston had turned in a solid all-round display and had led via a 31st minute goal from Paul Jones. The final outcome, though, means that Town are now left without a win in their last seven Premier Division matches.

Boston Town slipped to a third straight UCL defeat as a somewhat under-strength line-up tumbled by a 4-1 margin away to Cogenhoe. The result means that the Poachers have now pocketed just three points out of a possible 18 since emerging victorious away to Irchester on February 25 and leaves Town 14th in the table with 41 points from 31 matches.  Here, Town fell behind after just two minutes to a goal by Karl Bales. The same player their doubled the home advantage on 28 minutes before Lorand Borbely halved the deficit three minutes after the break. However, thoughts of a Poachers’ recovery were dashed when Cogenhoe made it 3-1 via a 54th minute penalty by Matt Gearing. The home side sealed the spoils when Robbie Bushell added a fourth on 77 minutes.

Boston Town slipped to a second home defeat in the space of four days when succumbing 2-1 to fellow mid-tablers Wellingborough. Visiting striker Tom Liversedge inflicted a double blow on the Poachers with goals after 12 and 24 minutes. And that’s the way things stayed until the 79th minute when Nick Brown got on the scoresheet to halve the deficit. But it was too late to spark a full recovery.

Three-in-a-row for Boston Town! Draws, that is. The Poachers pocketed another useful point as their end-of-season UCL Premier Division run-in starts to gain momentum. Following hot on the heels of shared rewards against Newport Pagnell and King’s Lynn, Town figured in yet another all-square outcome when they fought out a 1-1 draw away to local derby rivals Spalding United.

Boston Town pocketed an impressive share of the spoils in a replayed UCL Premier Division home fixture against King’s Lynn. Despite having Craig Parker dismissed in the second half for two yellow card offences, the Poachers took a 76th minute lead through Jammal Shahin. Lynn equalised four minutes later via a Danny Beaumont strike. It was only the fourth time this term that a side had taken points from the Linnets who currently sit seven points clear at the top of the table, although main rivals Long Buckby have three matches in hand.

Boston Town kept an important clean sheet in their home UCL Premier Division clash against Newport Pagnell. Boston Town were unable to put a dent in the record of unbeaten UCL Premier Division title-chasers Long Buckby. The Poachers went down to a 3-0 away defeat, a result that meant their hosts had negotiated the first 20 league matches of the season having dropped just four points (two draws). Dan Quigley got the breakthrough goal for Buckby on 37 minutes and the home lead was doubled in first half stoppage time when Koriya Quigley netted from the penalty spot. The result was put beyond doubt on 68 minutes when the latter netted again. Chances were few and far between for the Poachers against their in-form hosts, although both Gary Bull and Rob Foster had near misses.

Boston Town made a flying start to 2012 by rattling up an impressive 3-0 UCL Premier Division success away to Northampton Spencer. Backbone to Town’s triumph was a two-goal burst inside the first 10 minutes with Mark Foster netting on four minutes and then Sam Kirton making it 2-0 five minutes later. And that’s the way things stayed until the 70th minute when an Alex Beck goal put the icing on the cake for Boston

Boston Town’s new caretaker manager Phil Jones got his reign off to a winning start thanks to a gritty last-gasp fightback from his team. The Poachers overcame the challenge of lowly Thrapston to complete a quick-fire league double over their opponents — but only thanks to two goals netted in the closing stages. Up to the 85th minute, Town had trailed to a goal netted six minutes before the interval by Jordan Pendered. But on 85 minutes Craig Parker popped up with the equaliser. Then right on full-time, Gary Bull (back in the Town fold after briefly leaving the club) hit the winner from the penalty spot.

The result deprived the Poachers the chance of moving further up the UCL Premier Division table as the visitors grabbed their first win in 10 outings to bolster their own prospects of avoiding the drop. The only goal of the game came after 62 minutes from Sleaford’s most recent recruit, Alex Popple.

Boston Town — still regrouping after the managerial resignations of boss Martyn Lakin and his assistant Rob Speechley earlier in the week — managed to pocket maximum spoils on the UCL travels to Thrapston. The Poachers got the upper hand on the strength of a 3-2 success, a result which edges them further up the Premier Division table. Caretaker player-boss Lorand Borbely fired Boston ahead on 25 minutes but Korey Morgan levelled on 39 minutes. New recruit Mark Lovelace put Boston back in front after 51 minutes and this lead was extended on 58 minutes when Jack Smith headed in from a Sam Kirton corner. Thrapston scored a late consolation through Chris Jones two minutes from time. But it was too late to prevent Boston from collecting the spoils.

Boston Town tumbled off the FA Vase trail with a disappointing performance that led to defeat by lower status opposition in the guise of Gornal from the West Midlands League. Things got off to a poor start from a Poachers’ perspective with Marvin Nisbet striking for the visitors after just five minutes. And that’s the way things stayed for the bulk of the game. Less than 60 seconds later Boston went 2-0 ahead, Kieran Davies crossing for Bull to head in. The issue was put beyond doubt when Beck netted again 13 minutes from time. Yaxley drew late consolation from a Tom Davey goal a minute from time, but it was too late to alter the overall result.

Lorand Borebly gave Town a 13th minute lead. Alex Beck doubled the advantage a minute before the break but Jack Gillingwater reduced the deficit for the visitors on 51 minutes. Kieran Davies settled home nerves with a third Town goal 10 minutes from time. Then, on 88 minutes a Gary Bull penalty wrapped up the points.

Paul Caswell gave S&L the lead on 20 minutes, but Michael Wood equalised for Boston three minutes later. In the 39th minute Ollie Pinner put Boston ahead and the lead was consolidated further when Billy King netted his team’s third on 70 minutes. It was drama all the way as Boston town clinched their place in the second stage of the Lincolnshire Senior Shield. The Poachers emerged victorious 5-3 on penalties away to Blackstones in their first round tie after the UCL Premier Division rivals had fought out a remarkable 4-4 draw to lead to the shoot-out decider. The Poachers fell a goal behind after just 11 minutes when Danny Barker hit the target. Two minutes into first half stoppage time, the same player made it 2-0. And there was still enough time before the interval for Lorand Borbely to reduce the deficit. Two minutes after the break, Town levelled through Alex Beck and then went in front with a Gary Bull penalty after Borbely had been fouled. But back came Blackstones and Elton Holmes made it 3-3. Boston responded with a Tom James goal on 77 minutes, but the scores were tied again a minute from time when Michael Nelson netted from the penalty spot. In the shoot-out, scorers for Boston were Borbely, James, Kieran Davies, Craig Parker and Bill King. Blackstones failed to score from their third kick, meaning that King’s conversion was enough to earn a 5-3 margin of penalties success.

Boston Town had two players sent off as they succumbed to county rivals Holbeach — and in the process conceded a UCL Premier Division double to their opponents, having already lost the reverse fixture at Tattershall Road (when Town also had a player dismissed). On this occasion, the men to get their marching orders were Kieran Davies (two yellow cards) and Jack Smith (straight red). By the time Town were down to just nine souls on the pitch, Holbeach had built up a 3-0 lead with goals from Ben Brown, Andy Tidswell and Mitch Griffiths. In addition, a penalty by Lewis Brooks was well saved by Poachers’ keeper Chris Wright. But despite all their dismay, Boston refused to throw in the towel and cut the deficit through Alex Beck with nine minutes remaining. And Town made it an anxious conclusion for their hosts when a Lorand Borbely cross was turned into his own net by Brown. But Holbeach saw out the dying throes to take maximum points.

Boston Town crashed to a shock home UCL Premier Division reverse against lowly rivals Yaxley who went into the match lying next to bottom in the table with only one point to their credit from seven outings. But on the night, it was the visitors who held sway, going two goals clear before Alex Beck reduced the deficit for the Poachers. However, there was to be no fairytale fightback as Yaxley clinched the points with an Andy Beech strike on 74 minutes.

Boston: Chris Wright, Eddy Ferreira (Shane Clancy), Jack Smith, Michael Wood, Lorand Borbely, Mark Foster, Ollie Pinner (Billy King), Alex Beck, Tom James (Gary Bull), Danny Matson, Craig Parker.

Boston Town succumbed to a surprise home reverse in the first round of the United Counties League Cup. The Poachers lost out 1-0 to lower status outfit Wootton Blue Cross. Four goals inside the first 16 minutes laid the platform for Boston Town to make a flying start to their FA Vase campaign. The Poachers finally ran out decisive 5-1 winners away to Gedling Miners Welfare. The first qualifying round tie was effectively over when a second minute opener by Tom James was added to by a goal from Alex Beck on six minutes, followed four minutes later when Gary Bull struck. To further boost the Poachers’ progress, Shane Clancy made it 4-0 in the 16th minute. Beck got his second on 56 minutes and at that stage there was no way back for the home side—although they did take a crumb of consolation from a Joel Wilson goal as the final scoring action in the 65th minute.

Boston: Chris Wright, Ed Ferreira, Lorand Borbely, Jack Smith, Michael Wood, Tom James, Ollie Pinner, Alex Beck, Gary Bull (Tom Ruck), Shane Clancy, Craig Parker.

Striker Alex Beck rescued a point for Boston Town with an 85th minute goal. The Poachers’ front man was on target to thwart county rivals Spalding who, at one stage, had led this UCL Premier Division encounter by two goals — new signing Greg Smith scoring in the second and 42nd minutes. But Gary Bull netted for the Poachers on 44 minutes and they battled away after the break until Beck’s leveller arrived.

Boston Town bowed out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage. They suffered a 2-1 reverse to Eastern Combination League outfit Heanor despite taking a 24th minute lead through Tony James. Arguably a big factor in the reverse was an earlier penalty miss by Danny Matson. Arguably, had Boston opened up a 2-0 lead, they may have been no way back for the home side. But as things turned out, Heanor levelled on 63 minutes through Nathan Benger and then clinched cup progress via an Ashley Grayson strike 13 minutes from time.

Late goals from Danny Matson and Craig Parker helped Boston Town to maximum UCL Premier Division spoils at home to Desborough Town. The 2-1 success enabled the Poachers to edge up to ninth spot in the table — but their maximum haul came only by virtue of a last-gasp fightback after they had trailed to a third minute goal by Jamie Gilsenan. For a long time it looked as if that would have been the only goal of the game. But the Poachers rallied in the dying stages and equalised on 79 minutes via a Danny Matson penalty after Lorand Borbely had been fouled. Then, in the final minute, Craig Parker got the winner when converting in a goalmouth scramble.

Two goals in the final 16 minutes put paid to Boston Town’s hopes of prising any sort of reward from their trip to face one of the UCL’s title favourites King’s Lynn. The Poachers put up a terrific fight throughout the encounter and looked on course to share the spoils until Robbie Harris struck on 74 minutes. Lynn’s victory was sealed when Stephen Spriggs made it 2-0 in stoppage time.

Boston Town grabbed an excellent victory on their travels in this FA Cup extra preliminary round tie. The Poachers won through on the strength of a fightback 4-2 success, having trailed to a ninth minute goal from Glossop’s John Hill. Town levelled on 26 minutes through Tom James and took an interval lead through Alex Beck in the 44th minute. Gary Bull made it 3-1 on 72 minutes before James hit the target against with six minutes to go. Glossop claimed a late consolation through Jamie Gordon but it was too late to affect the overall outcome.

Boston Town tumbled to a 2-1 home UCL derby night reverse against county rivals Holbeach (a side containing five ex-Poachers) in a fractious encounter at Tattershall Road. The Poachers hit problems as early as the second minute when Ashley Stevens converted a Paul Goodhand pass to put the visitors 1-0 ahead. But Town rallied and drew level in the 13th minute when Tom James headed in from a driven effort by Alex Beck. But home woes resurfaced when, on 18 minutes, striker Danny Matson was sent off for allegedly elbowing Jamie Stevens in an edge-of-the-area skirmish. After that, some more robust tackles heightened the tension. Boston fought hard to make a further scoring impact and Jack Smith went close with a header. But it was the visitors who grabbed maximum points when, on 65 minutes, Jamie Stevens crossed for Ben Brown to drill high into the home net.

Boston Town made a flying start to the new season of competitive action in the UCL Premier division with a fine three-goal triumph away to Newport Pagnell. Danny Matson broke the deadlock in favour of the visitors with a 34th minute strike following good build-up work by Alex Beck and Lorand Borbely. Twenty minutes after the interval Tony James was the provider for Shane Clancy to make it 2-0. Then three minutes from time Matson netted his second when converting a penalty after Borbely had been fouled.
