Boston Town 100 Club results (regular
prizes of £25, bonuses as listed):
******************* JUNE NEWS Sunday June 18: Boston Town have had their
application to enter a team into the Lincolnshire League for the 2006-2007
season accepted. The Poachers’ second string will be among 12 sides involved in
the competition — the others being fellow newcomers Keelby
United plus existing members Skegness Town, CGB Humbertherm, Horncastle Town,
Caistor Rovers, Hykeham Town, Ruston Sports, Lincoln United Juniors, LSS
Lucarly’s, Grimsby Borough and Louth United. Champions of two seasons ago,
Wyberton have not renewed their application.
******************* MAY NEWS Sunday May 21: Boston Town manager Bob
Don-Duncan has confirmed that 16 players have already pledged their future to
the Poachers for the 2006-2007 UCL season. Last season’s leading scorer Gary
Bull plus fellow strikers Micky Nuttell and Danny Matson (now close to full fitness
after a serious knee injury) have led the way. Others having signed forms are
Shaun Baker, Nathan Collins, Paul Goodhand, Matt Stares, Carl Basker, Matt
Price, James Brader, Ben Harris, Ross Don-Duncan, Nick Maddison and Liam
Parker while Jon Rowan, Jamie Lawrence and Nick Reeson have confirmed their
intention to rejoin the fold. In addition, the Poachers have signed
31-year-old goalkeeper Mick Hurst, previously with St Neots and Bourne, and
defender Neal Spafford from Bourne. Saturday May 20: Boston Town connections have
pencilled in four matches for the club’s pre-season programme in the build-up
to the 2006-2007 United Counties League season that begins on August 12.
Friendly matches already lined up are: Boston United (Saturday July 15), Stamford
(Thursday July 20), Lincoln United (Saturday August 5) and King’s Lynn
(Tuesday August 8). Further games against Spalding, Lincoln City and Grimsby
Town are still to be confirmed. Sunday May 7: Striker Jon Rowan has had his
appeal upheld against a sending off at Yaxley on March 21. The Town front man
had been under threat of a potential 35–day suspension under Lincs FA
disciplinary regulations. However, manager Bob Don-Duncan successfully
lobbied his player’s cause at a personal hearing — the end result being that
Rowan will be free to kick-off Town’s next United Counties League campaign in
August. April news: Saturday April 22: Boston Town completed
their UCL season with a fine 2-1 home victory over Stotfold. The victory
guaranteed the Poachers a sixth placed finish in the 2005-2006 Premier
Division table. Goals came courtesy of Gary Bull and Micky Nuttell.
Post-match, Town officials handed out their two principal end-of-season
accolades. Supporters’ player of the season award went to Matt Price. Players’
player of the year nomination was midfielder Paul Goodhand. Monday April 17: Goals from defender Carl
Basker and hot-shot midfielder Paul Goodhand helped Boston Town to a 2-0 home
win over neighbours Holbeach United—a result which helped avenge a 6-0
Christmas holiday loss in the reverse fixture. Saturday April 15: Boston Town prised out
a hugely creditable away day point against Eagle Bitter United Counties
League leaders Woodford when they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. The
result, highlighted by Paul Goodhand’s 25th goal of the season,
also bolstered the Poachers’ own ambitions of a top six finish — or
better. Saturday April 8: Jon Rowan’s eighth goal
since joining the club secured Boston Town an important 1-0 win over Yaxley
at Tattershall Road. The result further bolsters the Poachers’ top six
position and still keeps open the possibility of a place in the top four.
Town had to draft in 20-year-old Karl Stinchcomb from RAF Coningsby to play
in goal with regular custodian Paul Buttery unavailable and regular stand-in
Nick Maddison suffering a serious hand injury sustained in an accident at
work on Friday. Saturday April 1: Boston Town pocketed a
share of the spoils from their latest Eagle Bitter United Counties League
match — a trip to Stotfold when the sides finished level at 1-1. March news: Thursday March 30: Former Liverpool and Denmark star Jan Molby was the special guest speaker at the latest celebrity sports dinner function organised by Boston Town connections. The event proved another hit at the club’s Poachers Bar facility at their Tattershall Road ground. Saturday March 25: Boston Town got back to winning ways after a brace of away losses when they managed to get the better of a Buckingham side chasing a place in the upper reaches. The Poachers emerged 1-0 winners in the encounter at Tattershall Road. Tuesday March 21: Nine-man Boston Town tumbled to a second successive Eagle Bitter UCL Premier Division defeat. They were beaten 2-0 at Yaxley in a match that had a stormy conclusion with Jon Rowan and Ross Don-Duncan both sent off. See reports archive and results summary sections. Saturday March 18: Defeat by a solitary
goal margin was inflicted on Boston Town when they made the trip to face
Northampton Spencer in a UCL Premier Division fixture. Saturday March 11: Boston Town kept up
their free-scoring form in UCL matches. Their 4-0 victory over St Ives
at Tattershall Road hoisted their goal tally to 13 in their last three Premier
Division outings — following on from the previous week’s epic 4-4 draw at
Cogenhoe and a 5-1 walloping of Northampton Spencer. Saturday March 4: Boston Town figured in an
amazing UCL Premier Division clash away to fellow high-flyers Cogenhoe when
the teams shared the spoils in a remarkable 4-4 draw. Fortunes see-sawed
throughout a dramatic clash which featured five goals in the final 15
minutes. February news: Tuesday February 28: Boston Town bowed out of the Lincolnshire Senior A Cup when losing 3-1 at home to UCL Premier Division rivals Bourne Town on a bitterly cold night at Tattershall Road. See Town results summary 2005-2006 section (above) for full details. Sunday February 26: Boston Town are on course for an April 22 finish to their latest UCL Premier Division season. League officials have now issued the full fixture list for the remainder of the campaign with the Poachers now having five home games and five away matches left to complete, rounding off — postponements permitting — with a Tattershall Road clash against Stotfold. Saturday February 25: A second half goal spree enabled Boston Town to dent the UCL title ambitions of rivals Northampton Spencer. The Poachers powered to a 5-1 victory, a result that also enabled Bob Don-Duncan’s side to keep alive their own high-flying ambitions in the upper reaches of the Premier Division. Thursday February 23: The latest celebrity sports dinner function at the Poachers’ Social Club proved another big success according to Boston Town officials. Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland midfielder Ronnie Whelan was the guest speaker. The function also featured a fund-raising auction of various items of football memorabilia. Saturday February 18: Boston Town secured a home 1-1 draw against an in-form Woodford side who have in recent weeks emerged as the hot favourites to lift the UCL title. The afternoon also saw veteran Town striker Dave Scotney accept an official league award for his feat earlier in the season in scoring 300 career goals in UCL competitions. Saturday February 11: Boston Town suffered
their first defeat of 2006 when tumbling to a 4-1 UCL loss away to St Neots,
a scored exactly reverse from earlier in the campaign when the poachers had
enjoyed success by the same margin at Tattershall Road. The result further
dented Town hopes of having a major say in the Premier Division title issue. Saturday February 4: Boston Town registered
a third straight Eagle Bitter United Counties League victory when crushing
Newport Pagnell 4-1 at Tattershall Road. Gary Bull (2), Jonathan Rowan and
Paul Goodhand were the Poachers’ scorers with all the goals arriving in the
first half. January news: Sunday January 29: Details of Boston Town’s March fixtures in the UCL Premier Division have been announced. They comprise: March 4, Cogenhoe (away); March 11, St Ives (home); March 18, Northampton Spencer (away); March 21, Yaxley (away); March 25, Buckingham Town (home). Saturday January 28: The Poachers maintained
their mini-sequence of unbeaten matches since the dawning of 2006 with a fine
3-1 win away to St Ives. The win followed the previous Saturday’s victory
over Ford Sports and two draws in the opening fortnight of the new year. Friday January 27: Boston Town officials
report a steady sale of tickets for their forthcoming celebrity dinner
function featuring former Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan as guest speaker
(see January 12 news item below). Vice-chairman John Rose said anyone wanting
to make sure of a place at the February 23 function can book one or more of
the limited number of tickets still left by contacting him on Boston 351501
as soon as possible. Saturday January 21: A slender 1-0 home win
over Ford Sports at Tattershall Road enabled Boston Town to force themselves
back into the UCL championship picture. Gary Bull was Town’s man on target. Thursday January 19: Boston Town completed
the signing of former Grimsby Town striker Jonathan Rowan from Gainsborough
Trinity. Rowan had been involved in Grimsby’s epic 2-1 League Cup triumph at
Liverpool a few years ago and had featured in several Championship level
matches with the Mariners. Town boss Bob Don-Duncan described the player’s
recruitment as “something of a coup” for the Tattershall road outfit. Saturday January 14: Boston Town were
without a UCL fixture today, preventing them from catching up in the Premier
Division title race. The Poachers now lie sixth in the table. Their next
action is a home game against Ford Sports on Saturday January 21. Thursday January 12: Boston Town’s next celebrity sports dinner is rapidly approaching. It
comes around on Thursday February 23 when former Liverpool and Republic of
Ireland international midfielder Ronnie Whelan will be guest speaker. Saturday January 7: Boston Town entertained
reigning champions Cogenhoe but had to settle for a share of the spoils for
the second match in a row when battling out a 2-2 draw at Tattershall Road. (see reports archive and results
summary 2005-2006) Monday January 2: A Shaun Baker goal
helped Boston Town to secure a valuable away United Counties League point
against Raunds. The result came as a confidence booster after two Premier
Division defeats over the Christmas holiday. Sunday January 1: The final winning number for
the 2005 running of Boston Town’s 200 Club competition is ticket 62 for a
bumper concluding prize of £500. December news: Tuesday December 27: The latest winning
number in Boston Town’s 100 Club for the final £400 prize of the current
competition was ticket 79. The concluding draw for a special top prize of
£500 will be made on the weekend of December 31/January 1. Monday December 26: It was a case of a
derby-day nightmare for Boston Town as they were hit for six away to Holbeach
United, a contributing part in their 6-0 downfall being the first half
dismissal of keeper Nick Maddison for handing outside his area. Friday December 23: Boston Town lost
further ground in the UCL Premier Division title race when losing 2-1 at home
to Stewart and Lloyds Corby in a controversial clash at Tattershall Road. Thursday December 22: February fixtures have
been added to Boston Town’s United counties League agenda. See Town results
summary 2005-2006 for full match run-down. Monday December 19: Boston Town officials
are hoping to attract extra supporters to their next home match. This
Friday’s (December 23) UCL Premier Division fixture against Stewart and
Lloyds of Corby (kick-off 7.45pm) doesn’t clash with any other senior
sporting event in the area. Poachers’ vice-chairman John Rose said: “Our
match won’t be competing with any other major distractions, so hopefully
anyone at a loose end — or fed up with preparing for Christmas — will come
along and see what football at our level can offer in terms of entertainment.
We are still right up there challenging for the Premier Division title and it
would be nice to think we can attract a few extras through the gate.” Sunday December 18: The latest winning
number in Boston Town’s 100 Club competition is ticket 31. Saturday December 17: A 1-1 home draw was
Boston Town’s reward in their penultimate pre-Christmas United Counties League
fixture, at home to Raunds. The result leaves the Poachers second in the
table, five points behind Potton. Sunday December 11: The latest winning
number in Boston Town’s 100 Club competition is ticket 73. Saturday December 10: Boston Town prised out
a useful UCL point away to table-topping Potton with a 1-1 draw. The share of
the spoils keeps them hot on the tails of pole position and still with every
chance of landing the Premier Division title. Thursday December 8: Confirmation has been
received that Boston Town will play Bourne Town in the semi-final of the
Lincolnshire Senior A Cup. The tie, to be played at Tattershall Road, has
provisionally been pencilled in for March 4. In addition, the January UCL
fixtures have been released. Wednesday December 7: Second half goals by
Dave Scotney and Gary Bull helped Boston Town to secure a 3-2 UCL derby win
away to Blackstones. Town took the lead early on via an own goal, but briefly
fell 2-1 behind before hitting back against opponents who had a man sent off
just before half time. The win lifted Town back to second in the table. Sunday December 4: The latest winning
number in Boston Town’s 100 Club competition is ticket 61. Saturday December 3: Boston Town had no
scheduled fixture today and slipped six points off the UCL Premier Division
pace (albeit with two games in hand) when table-topping Potton recorded a 3-0
win over Desborough. November news: Sunday November 27: The latest winning
ticket in Boston Town’s 100 Club competition was number 61 (£400 special
prize). Saturday November 26: Boston Town remain

next-to-bottom Desborough in their latest UCL Premier Division match. Wednesday November 23: Boston
Town secured three more vital UCL Premier Division points at the expense of
county rivals Bourne with a terrific 4-1 away success, courtesy of goals from

Lincolnshire Senior A Cup. The Poachers won 2-1 away to Lincoln Moorlands.

Saturday November 12: Boston Town made it three home wins in eight days to keep up their bid for UCL Premier Division title honours when defeating St Neots 4-1 at Tattershall Road. Tuesday November 8: Carl Basker’s sixth goal of the season was enough to give Boston Town a slender, but vital, home UCL derby match victory over Bourne. Sunday November 6: The winning ticket in
Boston Town’s latest weekly 100 Club draw is 54. Saturday November 5: Boston Town gave a
debut to new goalkeeper signing Paul Buttery as they got back on track in the
UCL Premier Division title race with a 3-0 home victory over Wootton Blue
Cross, a match in which midfielder Paul Goodhand was a two-goal hero. October news: Sunday October 30: The winning number in
Boston Town’s 100 Club was ticket 84 (for a £400 special prize). Town connections announced a vacancy for
the managerial role of the club’s reserve side that plays in the Premier
Division of the Boston Saturday League. Applications are invited via club
officials. Saturday October 29: A penalty from Gary
Bull and a late goal by Shaun Baker were not enough to avert a 3-2 UCL defeat
at Buckingham, a result that dealt a blow to Boston Town’s Premier Division title
hopes. Tuesday October 25: A goal from midfielder Carl Basker, his fourth in three UCL
games gave Town a 1-0 derby victory over Deeping Rangers. (See reports
2005-2006 link). Sunday October 23: Boston Town 100 Club's latest winning draw number is
74. Saturday October 22: The Poachers bowed out of the UCL Cup in a 3-2 home defeat

guest of honour at Boston Town's regular series of celebrity sports dinners.
Town vice-chairman John Rose described it as a tremendous success in the
company of "one of the funniest guests we have ever had." Sunday October 17: Boston Town 100 Club's latest winning draw number is
53. Saturday October 16: Goals from Paul Goodhand and one from Carl Basker helped Town
secure a 3-0 UCL win away to Newport Pagnell. Tuesday October 11: Two goals apiece from Carl Basker and Gary Bull
earned Boston Town a 4-0 UCL derby victory over Harrowby. Tuesday October 4: There was a double strike boost for Town boss Bob Don-Duncan
with news that Micky Nuttell had now completed a five-match suspension
and Gary Bull was fit after a hamstring strain. Both are expected to figure
in the derby game against Harrowby on October 11, Town's next match. Monday October 3: Defender Kris Jones is back available for Boston Town's next
