Round-up for week ending May 9 Lincs Racing Championship The final week for the Lincs Racing Championship produced
some exciting and nervy matches leaving players watching and waiting to play
very anxious. The opening game was between Kev Dickinson and Dennis Turner.
Kev, in fourth place, needed a win to try to claim third position. It was a close
match but Kev had the upper hand and found the doubles just in time to secure
a 3-0 win. Long time leader Mick Flynn was up next, facing a toughie against
Pedro Silva. Mick needed two points to seal the title. But he had to wait and
sweat until a later match as Pedro pushed him all the way and beat him 3-1. Next
up was Bob Birtwhistle and Rick Woods. Bob raced in too a 2-0 lead. Rick
pulled one back, but Bob secured the win in leg four for a 3-1 win. The fourth
match saw Dick Taylor finish strongly against Rob Scrupps and take a good 3-0
win. The next match was a big occasion. Redvers Dickinson had
to play Pete Johnson. Redvers knew what he had to do but Pete had other ideas,
though, and produced one of his best games against Redvers. He put the
pressure on, which worked as Redvers missed his double in leg one and Pete
took out 24 to lead. Pete’s form was still there in leg two and as Redvers
left his finish, Pete saw off the double again. Another good leg from followed
from both but it was Pete who was on a roll and sealed a 3-0 win to put
Redvers’ chance of the title out of sight. But did take second with Mick
getting the title. Congratulations go to both players in a long fought out
league. So that just left third place to be decided. Elaine
Corke was looking for that spot but had to take care of Jimmy Birtwistle. A
cracking first leg saw Jimmy leave 48 but Elaine was on song and saw off 69
to lead 1-0. Jimmy levelled, then Elaine upped her form and eased through to
go 2-1 ahead. A close fourth leg saw Jimmy having his chances to level it. But
he missed and Elaine held on well to take three points to seal third spot. A
cracking effort for first time in the league. Well done. To the oche for
their final game of the season were Pete Johnson and Rick Woods in an up and
down game. But it was Pete who checked out well and rounded off his season
with back-to-back wins. Pete taking a 3-1 win. Rick finish fifth just a few
points out of the prizes. The final game of the night and the season was
battled out between Rob Scrupps and Pedro Silva. This match saw doubles
tucked away well to finish on a high. With a 3-1 win, Rob finished 10th and Pedro
sixth. If Pedro had enjoyed a better start to the season, maybe he would have
been knocking on the shoulders of the top four. John Smiths Challenge League The John Smiths Challenge League was on its penultimate
week. Not a lot between the top four, so this week’s matches could have seen
lots of changes. The same applied in the ladies’ section. Getting the night’s
action under way were Emma Grant and Daniel Flynn. Emma was fairly steady in
leg one but Dan was too consistent and eased to a 1-0 lead. Dan was sailing
to a 2-0 lead but some costly misses allowed Emma to close up. But Emma could
not find the required double and Dan saw off his checkout to go 2-0 up. Dan
upped his form and Emma scored well but Dan was too strong and with one dart
sealed the victory 3-0 to go two points ahead of the leader Lee Dickinson.
The pressure was on as Lee was next to the oche, taking on Richard Wakefield.
Leg one was close., Richard left 76 but Lee held on well and picked off tops
in one dart. A better leg from both followed. Richard had the edge and picked
off 48 to level that set up a decider. Lee obviously feeling the nerves more
as it came to finish time with Richard closing in and leaving 60 but Lee, as
champs do, held on to his nerve and saw off his double for a 2-1 win to leap
one point ahead of Dan. The third game was between Chris Limb and Adam Kemp. This
was a close game which Adam took 3-0. The final game was between George
Harness and Richard Wakefield. George, in third, was still well within
striking distance of the top two and a win would have put the pressure on. George
was in good form, and needed to be as Richard pressured him all the way. But
George’s finishing was strong and he took the match 3-0. So it would be a
tense last night with all to play for. And duly a full night’s fixtures was contested for the
men’s and ladies’ section,. Who was going to take the spoils in the big games
to come? The league’s final week was started off by Louise Charalambou and
Chris Limb. All three legs were played with the advantage going to Louise who
won 2-1. Game two was a big game for
Suzy Watson, currently top of the ladies’ section after a good run-in. Suzy took
on Richard Attwell. A ding-dong game hinged on the doubles. But it will be
Suzy taking the gong as she hit them to seal the ladies’ title with a 3-0
win. Well done, Suzy. Next up was Di Jenkins. Di took on Louise Charalambou, Di
was in steady form in leg one and was soon 1-0 up. Leg two was not the pair’s
best and the doubles could not be found for several shots. But it was Lou who
levelled the match. A much-improved decider until the doubles as Di was
missing them and this let Lou back in. Lou had one shot but missed and this
time Di sealed the win 2-1. To the oche next were Darren Bierley and Richard
Wakefield. This was close but it was Darren who just edged 2-1. Back to the oche for their final games were Richard
Attwell and Di Jenkins. Di needed a good result to pressure the other lady
challengers battling for the second place. The first two legs were even but
both went against the arrows, which set up a decider. The best leg of the
match saw both score well and were soon on the doubles. Di left 32 and
watched Richard just miss his 81 finish. Next throw Di took out 32 to take a
2-1 win. Di had to wait to see where she would finish. Next Emma Grant needed a win to secure second place but
a tough opponent awaited her in George Harness who also needed a positive result.
George started strongly and more consistent than Emma and he sealed the first
leg with an 85 checkout. George was strong again in leg two but Emma was
battling well and as George was missing doubles Emma closed in and had a
couple of shots to level. But she missed her chance and George went 2-0 up. A
good leg from both followed. Emma soon left 91 but George was on 95 and took
it out for the win. Emma finished fourth a good effort. Third spot went to
Angie Upsall, a good effort too. George finished second. Another match followed with Daniel Flynn needing a big
result. Dan faced Adam Kemp The first leg was good from both, but it was Adam
who found the double first. Dan responded well in leg two and left tops. Adam
hit back with 80 to leave tops too. Dan was solid and levelled the match. So to
a decider. Here Dan started well with Adam just a few points behind. Dan left
62 as Adam left 66. Dan could only leave 24 as Adam saw off tops in one for
the 2-1 win. A good season for Dan that missed double meant second place as Lee
Dickinson and Dan were level on 66 but Lee had the better leg difference. So he could relax for his final game and
was next on. Lee had to play Bryan Robson who had finished fourth. So could
Lee finish off in style? Bryan had other ideas and was first to the finish
but missed his double and Lee was on his way. Bryan hit back in leg two to
level. Bryan was on a roll and eased to a 2-1 win. Nice to beat the champ, so
congratulations to Lee on his first title at his first attempt. So on to the final game of the season was between Chris
Limb and Darren Bierley. Both were not at their usual best, but still entertained
all on doubles. And it was Darren who finished with a 3-0 win. |

Round-up
for week ended April 25
Boston Standard Premier League The final week of the Premier Division took place last week.
The opening game saw Debra Royal take on Jamie Robson. Jamie started the
better and soon opened up a 3-1 lead. Jamie had the chance to seal victory
but missed his double that let Deb in who soon took advantage and levelled
the match. The decider could have gone either way, but it went to Deb 4-3.
That win secured third place a very good season for Debs. Kev Lenton then
played Harry Lee. Harry was in good form hitting a 180 and saw of finishes of
108 and 88 to secure a 4-0 win. Later in the evening Kev Lenton played Derek
Johnson. A good seven-leg battle between Monday night team colleagues, the
match eventually going Kev’s way 4-3. Lincs Racing Championship Mick Flynn maintained top slot after picking a good 3-1
win over Dennis Turner winning with legs of 31, 26 and 22 in the opening game
of the night. Next up were Kev Dickinson and Bob Birtwistle. A good close
match. Kev Dickinson stays fourth but closes up on the top three after a good
3-0 win which included a 98 checkout. After a break Bob was back to the oche to play Redvers
Dickinson. A tight battle, but Redvers checked out very well to take a 3-0
win. Third placed Elaine Corke was next to the oche taking on Dick Taylor.
Dick found the doubles first to take a 2-0 lead and looked set for victory but
costly misses on 60, 20 and 10 let Elaine in. Elaine then upped her game and
soon levelled. The decider was going Elaine’s way with steadier scoring and
Elaine sealed the win with one dart at 32 for a big 3-2 win leaving Dick
thinking about those missed doubles for victory. The final game of the night
saw Redvers Dickinson back to play Jimmy Birtwhistle. Redvers took an easy
opener. Jimmy had shots to level in leg two but it was Redvers leg. Jimmy hit
back in the third with an 18-darter and levelled it in the next leg with a
19-darter to set up a decider. Redvers got his form back and steadier than
Jimmy’s and took his finish first time with jimmy sat on 72. That 3-2 win for
Redvers moves him just two points behind leader Mick Flynn. John Smiths Challenge League Getting the action under way were Suzy Watson and Adam
Kemp. Suzy was just the more consistent and was checking well which gave Suzy
a big 3-0 win. The second game saw Daniel Flynn take on Richard Attwell. Dan
was in good steady form just too steady for Richard as Dan took the match 3-0
with legs of 24, 23 and 31 darts. Dan also hit a 180 on his way in leg two
and it was the top average of night with 19.26. Game three was between Angie
Upsall and Darren Bierley. A tight match having shots in each leg but Darren
picked ’em off to take the match 2-1. Louise Charalambou picked up her 11th
win of the season. Louise was in good steady form and checked out well
against Adam Kemp and took a great 3-0 win. Daniel Flynn was back into
action, this time facing a toughie, Di Jenkins. Di matched Dan all the way in
leg one and left 38 but Dan was solid and checked out in one dart. Dan upped
his form in leg two and eased ahead 2-0. Di had a couple of shots in the last
leg but not to be as Dan wrapped up another 3-0 win to move to second place
two points behind Lee Dickinson. Richard Wakefield was next up, playing Suzy
Watson. An even first leg saw doubles go astray for both. It eventually went
Richard’s way. Suzy found them in leg two and levelled. The decider was a
repeat of leg one both messing up on the finish but it was Richard who held
to pick up his sixth win. That vital leg put Suzy ahead in the ladies section
as Emma Grant was next up facing a tough match against league leader Lee
Dickinson. Lee was in good form in the first two legs picking of 64 in both
legs. Emma battled hard in leg three and hit a 140 to leave 91 but Emma could
not pick of the double to take a vital point and lee stepped in for a 3-0
win. The final game of the night was between fourth placed Bryan Robson
playing Di Jenkins. Bryan was a lot steadier this week even on his feet, but
Di was matching him all the way. Bryan was checking out well and wrapped up a
3-0 win. So, still very tight in this league and still all to play for in the
ladies’ section. |

Round-up
for week ended April 18
Boston Standard Premier League Congratulations go to Tony Holland on becoming the
Boston Standard Premier Division individual champion. Tony secured the title after
picking up his 18th win out of 21 games. In his last game against Graham
Sharp, both players scored well. Graham missed doubles and Tony took full
advantage. It has been a good, solid consistent season for Tony — which is
what’s always required to take the title. Dave Hasnip also takes applause as
he finished second to Tony. Dave beat Jamie Robson in his last match in good
form picking off two 180s and an average of 25.74 for a 4-1 win. That was
Dave’s 16th win for the season, which left him two points behind the winner.
Third place is yet to be decided. Martyn Palmer holds that spot at the
moment. But Debra Royal can leapfrog him. Deb needs to win her last match
next week. Earlier she played Tony Holland in a close seven-legger. Deb
picked off a super 158 finish, but Tony took the match 4-3. The final game of
the night saw Tony Hillyard and Graham Sharp battle out their last games of
the season. Graham started the better and soon led 2-0. Tony hit back to
level. But Graham took the fifth leg and missed his chance in the sixth to
win. Tony held on to set up a decider. Tony kicked off with a 180 and
followed up with ton, ton. Graham responded with scores of 100. 121, 100 for
his finish and Tony picked off his double to win 4-3. Tony finished fifth and
Graham sixth. Next week is the final week for the Premier Division with just
three matches. Debra Royal takes on Jamie Robson and Kev Lenton faces Harry
Lee and Derek Johnson. Lincs Racing Championship Things are still very tight at the top after this week’s
results. Second placed Redvers Dickinson took on third placed Elaine Corke.
The latter took the opener with a super 91 checkout for a 21 darter. Redvers
levelled things up in a close second leg. Elaine then hit a cracking 18
darter with a 94 finish. Leg 4 was very close but a costly bust on 91 for
Redvers gave Elaine the chance to leave 92. Redvers had another go at 91 but
only left 39 and Elaine wrapped up a great win with another super 92 checkout
for a 3-1 win with an average of 20.10. Dennis Turner played Jimmy
Birtwhistle. The latter was finishing well as both were scoring steadily, and
Jimmy took the win 3-0. Dick Taylor then played Pete Johnson. Pete started
very well and a 140 set up 99 with Dick well back. But Pete could not finish
off the game and Dick nipped in to lead. Dick, in leg two, picked off a
lovely 101 finish to go 2-0 up. Leg three was close but Dick was first to the
finish sealed the win 3-0. Rick Woods picked up his 19th win of the season.
Rick took on and beat Rob Scrupps in a fairly close match 3-1. Bob Birtwistle
then played Pedro Silva. Pedro was having the edge in the first three legs
and checked well to lead 2-1. Bob hit back in leg four, hitting a ton then
seeing off 85 in two to level. That just gave Bob the momentum and Bob held
well on 52 to take the win 3-2. Another big game in the top four followed,
league leader Mick Flynn against Kev Dickinson. The match was well balanced
and started well for both. Kev, though, found the doubles to lead 2-1. Mick
hit back well in leg four picking off 79 for an 18-darter to level. The
decider was close and nervously fought Mick having the first shot to seal the
win but missed a couple of times and Kev held on his second shot to take a
big win by 3-2. The final game of the night saw a re-arranged fixture for
Pete Johnson and Bob Birtwhistle. Both were not at their usual best,
especially on the doubles which led to a deciding fifth leg. Another up and
down leg, but it was Pete who found his double to pick up his eight win of
the season 3-2. So Mick Flynn, leader on 77 points, Redvers Dickinson second
on 72 with a game in hand. Elaine Corke third on 69, Kev Dickinson fourth on
69, Rick Woods fifth on 67. It’s still all to play for. John Smiths Challenge League The tightest league of them is still very close in both
the men’s and ladies’ sections especially the ladies with three weeks to go.
This weeks action got under way with Di Jenkins taking on Adam Kemp. This was
very close all on the doubles which Di proved the stronger and took a good 2-1
win. Game two was between Bryan Robson and Daniel Flynn. third and fourth
placed. The first two legs saw Dan the more consistent and checked well to
lead 2-0. The third leg was a lot closer, Bryan raising his game but who he
had his chance to pull one back. The doubles were amiss and Dan nipped into
take a big 3-0 win. To the oche next were Tina Willicombe and Richard
Wakefield. First two legs were shared deservedly. The decider could have gone
either way. It was Tina’s night, though, and she picked up her seventh win
with a 2-1 and has now finished her season. League leader Lee Dickinson then
played Richard Attwell. Both were not at the races in leg one but Lee just
eased it. Things got better for Lee who picked off his first 180 of the
season inn leg two which just saw him home to lead 2-0. Lee started leg three
with a 140 but Richard hit back with steadier scoring and missed his chance
to take leg 3 and Lee wrapped up a vital 3-0 win. The battle of the ladies’
section followed. Emma Grant, current leader, faced Susie Watson. Suzy was in
better form in first two legs and checked out well to lead 2-0. Emma
responded well in leg three and hit a 140 but Emma’s finishing was not there
which let Suzy in to take a big 3-0 win. Two re-arranged games followed. First,
Bryan Robson took on Louise Charalambou. It was a good steady leg from both
in the opener. Louise left 68 but Bryan saw off 32 in two to go one up.
Another good leg followed but both saw their finishing let them down. And it
was Louise who held on to level. Louise then found some good steady darts and
took out 26 in one dart to take the win 2-1. the last game was between Suzy
Watson and Di Jenkins. Suzy started very well and finish strongly with ton,
ton and out in one dart on double four for a 22 darter. Di hit back in leg
two and pushed Suzy to the double Suzy had first pop but missed but so did Di
which cost her as Suzy nailed it next time to lead 2-0. Another good leg from
both in the third. Di first to the finish but another miss and Suzy no
mistake and took another big 3-0 win with an average of 14.17. So after this
week’s results, Lee Dickinson remains top on 61 points, George Harness second
on 58, Daniel Flynn third on 56 and Bryan Robson fourth on 53. In the ladies’
section Emma Grant stays top on 41 points, Angie Upsall is second also on 41
points. Suzy Watson moved up to third on 40 and Di Jenkins slips to fourth on
39. But it’s still very tight and too close to call. |

Round-up
for week ended April 4
Boston Standard Premier League Things have really hotted up after last week’s big
games. Getting things under way were league favourite Tony Holland up against
Tony Hillyard. The former hit a 180 in the opener but nearly let the leg
slip. However, Tony missed his chance. An even closer second leg followed,
again Tony Hillyard having a shot to level. But a miss was costly and Tony
Holland went 2-0 up. Leg three was a cracker. Hillyard hit scores of 92, 140,
125 and 105 against the darts and left tops. Tony responded with two 140s and
left 36. Here Tony missed his tops and 10s and Mr Holland stepped in to go
3-0 up. Tony Hillyard responded again by hitting 180, 60, 140 and 95 to leave
26 and pulled one back with a 13-darter. Leg five was another close leg. Tony
Hillyard left 52 after 12 darts but Tony had left 52 and picked it off for a
big 4-1 win. The second game saw Bob Mountain and Kev Lenton battle it out.
Kev was on good steady form and found his doubles well. All Bob could do was
set them up, but Kev was at his best on the doubles and took a good 4-0 win
with an average of 24.43. Tony Hillyard was back to the oche when taking on
Martyn Palmer. It was a tight first leg, but Tony had the edge and checked
out well to go one up. Martyn hit straight back with an 18-darter. Tony
missed a big chance to go ahead again and Martyn gratefully took his shot to
lead 2-1. Both were picking off the trebles but both were missing the doubles
in leg four. It was Tony, though, who held on to level the match. Another
good leg followed but a 70 finish under pressure from Martyn put Tony 3-2 up.
The sixth leg the worst leg of the match a real nervy one. But it was Tony
who held on the better and saw of double 10 in one for a big 4-2 win for
Tony. Graham Sharp and Jamie Robson then faced each other it was Graham who
was the more consistent and was checking out the better and soon raced into a
3-0 lead. Graham looked to be on his way to a 4-0 win but some loose darts at
the end of leg four were costly and Jamie hit back solidly and checked out to
pull one back. Jamie then found his more recent high calibre form and soon
pulled another one back. A 180 first throw from Graham gave him the edge in
the sixth leg, Jamie hit back with a 140 and 78 but missed his shot when
Graham missed 56. Graham sealed the win 4-2 with the next throw. The last
game of the night was a big match. Tony Holland faced Martyn Palmer. Both
matched each other. Tony hit 71 to leave 32 and then Martyn missed on the
wire of double 15 for a 150 finish.Tony, with his last dart, took the double
out to go ahead. Leg two was another good leg from both players. Martyn edged
it but a big miss a 51 finish gave Tony a shot from 74 and he held on well
and took it out to go 2-0 up. The high standard continued and the pivotal
point was a super 85 finish on the bull from Tony as Martyn left 32. So, it
was 3-0 to Tony. Martyn hit back in leg four but the doubles were not there
and Tony sealed a massive win of 4-0 with a 62 finish. So that now puts Tony
on top on 74 points. Dave Hasnip has one game left and sits second on 72.
Martyn has now finished and is third on 69 and Debra Royal is fourth on 64
with two games left. So with just a couple of weeks to go it’s still not yet
decided. The top two both have tough games to play, so it could go either
way. Lincs Racing Championship Dennis Turner and Elaine Corke got the night’s action
under way in this section. Elaine was the steadier in leg one and eased to a
1-0 lead. Dennis hit back in leg two with a 140 and a ton but missed 58 and
Elaine, who was very consistent in leg three, checked out well to take the
match 3-0. The second match was between Jimmy Birtwhistle and Pete Johnson.
It was Pete who held on the better in the nervy opener. A 180 from Jimmy in
the next eased him to a big lead, but the doubles were elusive for a few
chucks which let Pete catch up. But Pete could not get close enough and it
was all square. Jimmy was the more consistent in the next two and finished
well to take the match 3-1. Next up were Redvers Dickinson and Rob Scrupps.
Both hit scores of 140 in the opener but Redvers was steadier and held on
well on the doubles to lead. A very good leg from both in leg two. Here Rob hit
a 101 to leave 52 but Redvers picked off a superb 122 finish to go 2-0 up.
Leg three was just as tight but a steady end to the leg from Redvers gave him
the edge and 52 in three gave Redvers the victory 3-0. Bob Birtwistle then
took on Dick Taylor. This was another good close match which was all on the
finishing. Bob was checking and wrapped it up 3-1. To the oche next were Rick
Woods and Mick Flynn. A very good open leg eventually went Rick’s way. Mick
upped his game and soon levelled. Rick responded again and was soon ahead
again. It was all too close to call in leg four. Mick missed his shot on 64
and Rick sealed a big win on 57 for a 3-1 win. The final game of the
division’s action was between Pedro Silva and Kev Dickinson. It was the only
five-legger of the night. The last leg was a good leg from both. Pedro,
though, was the stronger but his finishing let him down and Kev held on when
he got his chance and took it by a 3-2 margin. John Smiths Challenge League Things are still pretty tight as Lee Dickinson, George
Harness and Daniel Flynn all won. Lee Dickinson got the night’s play going
taking on Adam Kemp. A close match saw Lee finish the stronger and he took it
2-1. Game two saw Angie Upsall finish the better in the first two legs
against Richard Wakefield. Angie was in cracking form in leg three, picking
off scores of 94, 81 and 80 which set up 100. And Angie took it out for a
great finish and a big 3-0 win with an 18-darter. Suzy Watson then played
Bryan Robson. Suzy took the opener, but Bryan responded with two good steady
legs to take the match 2-1. George Harness then played Richard Attwell.
George started the better and held on well when required to go one up. The
next two legs were quite close but George picked off the doubles as Richard
missed, so a good 3-0 win for George. The fifth game was very close between
Chris Limb and Di Jenkins but Di’s finishing was on form when required and
ran out a 3-0 winner. The final game of night was between Daniel Flynn and
Louise Charalmbou. Daniel was too strong in the first two legs and soon led
2-0. Dan looked to be coasting to 3-0 but double trouble struck for Dan and
Louise had her chance again and again but could not find the double 18 and
Dan eventually sealed the victory 3-0. IMPORTANT: Will all players note this week’s fixtures (April 11) have been called off to avoid clashing with the Old Leake finals night. These fixtures will be added onto the end of the season. Also the following week, April 18, there will be a committee meeting at 7pm prompt. |

Round-up
for double week ended March 28
Boston Standard Premier League Bank holiday weekend in the Boston Standard Premier
Division witnessed four matches. Getting things under way were Kev Lenton and
Debra Royal. Deb took a comfortable opener after a good start from Kev. In
leg two Kev hit a 119 to leave 32 but deb took out 48 to go 2-0 up. In the
next leg Kev got going and eased to pull one back. Leg four was very close
but it was Deb who held on to check out on 24 to go 3-1 up. Kev upped his
game by scoring 81, 121, 140, 121 and left 38. But he kept no-scoring and Deb
nipped in to take it 4-1. The next game saw the headlines of the season made
between Bob Mountain and Derek Johnson. A very good game. Derek took the
opening leg and Bob responded well and levelled. Leg three saw Derek finding
the treble bed well and he checked out well on 48 to lead again. Derek had a
chance to go 3-1 up but hit double trouble again and Bob levelled again. Both
matched each other again. This time Derek killed off the double to go 3-2
ahead. Bob responded in style with scores of 85, 140, 125, 60 and 91 in two
darts for a 14-darter. So all on a decider. A nervy leg from both, Derek
eventually set up 32. Bob was looking to settle the match on 41 but a miss
was costly. But could Derek hold on to take his first long overdue win of the
season? Yes he could, nailing tops in two darts. Well done, Derek. Next up
was Graham Sharp and Harry Lee. Harry took the nervy opener. The next four
legs were fairly even Graham was just the more consistent and checked out
when he needed to take a 4-1 win. Later in the evening Graham was back to
take on Kev Lenton. Graham had the arrows and eased to the doubles and after
three of four goes, Kev had closed in but missed a couple of times which gave
Gray another go which he took to lead 2-0. A 58 finish in leg three gave
Graham an 18-darter and a 3-0 lead. Kev hit back in the next, just missing
double 16 for a 152 finish, but first dart next time pulled one back for Kev.
“Fergal” upped his game in the next, a 133 set up tops which he took for the
4-1 win. Last Friday’s action got off with a bang as Martyn Palmer and Jamie
Robson battled out a cracking seven-legger, both averages being 26-plus.
Jamie started superbly with a 17-darter followed by a 15-darter and Martyn
missed 24 for a 13-darter. A costly miss, as it became 2-0 for Jamie. A
steadier leg three followed but Jamie was checking out and soon was 3-0 up.
Jamie was still on fire but Martyn was now in inferno form and as Jamie left
doubles Martyn took them out with 19, 18, 19 dart legs and it was all level.
So to a decider, Jamie “won the bull.” After 12 darts apiece Jamie left 160
to Martyn’s 177. Jamie left 79 as Martyn left 99. Jamie then missed 9 and
left 20 but Martyn could only leave 60 (bounce out). Could Jamie hold on? He
did for a big win of 4-3, something that really tightens up the league at the
top. To follow that cracker was Harry Lee against Derek Johnson. They had
their own cracking seven-legger. Nip-and-tuck and missed doubles eventually
set up a decider. Harry “won the bull” and struck of with a 140 but could not
find the treble bed again Derek found one or two and edged away to lead and
his second win back to back victory in a 4-3 scoreline. The third game was
between Dave Hasnip and Kev Lenton. An up-and-down game both not at their
consistent best and doubles were astray and another seven-legger. Dave “won
the bull”. Both were scored well. Dave left 40 as Kev left 124. Dave hit 38
to leave double 1, Kev picked off 72 to leave 52, and Dave with his last dart
saw of double one for a vital 4-3 win. Dave also hit a 180 in the opening
leg. The final game of the night saw Martyn Palmer take on Derek Johnson.
Derek was the sharper on the doubles and took the opener. Martyn hit back
with a 19-darter to level. In leg three Derek kicked off with a 180 and
followed with a couple if steadier scores as Martyn hit back with a 140.
Derek found the treble again and eased to 59. Martyn hit a ton to leave 100
and Derek missed double 10 and Martyn picked off 100 to go 2-1 up. Martyn was
the more consistent in the next leg and wrapped it up with a great 103
finish. Derek found his form again in leg five and pressured Martyn into
missing his doubles and Derek took his out to make it 3-2. Martyn responded well
and sealed the important win of 4-2 with an 18-darter. So after those two
weeks’ results, Dave Hasnip is top on 72 points with one game left. Martyn is
now second on 98 points with two games left — these being against Tony
Holland and Tony Hillyard. Tony Holland is in third place on 66 with three
tough games left. So a tense couple of weeks are coming up. Who’s going to
hold on and take the title and the top four slots. The big games will sort
the big boys out. Lincs Racing Championship First up on the Easter weekend were Dennis Turner and
Pete Johnson which Dennis duly won 3-1 leaving Pete 11 points adrift at the
bottom of the table. Elaine Corke beat Rob Scrupps 3-2 in a close game with
Elaine recording the highest average of the night. Brothers Jimmy and Bob
Birtwhistle were next up with Jimmy waling away with the spoils in a 3-1 win.
Top of the table clash between Redvers Dickinson and Mick Flynn meant that
Redvers closed a point in the table with a 3-2 win over Mick and a top checkout
of the night, a 108. Other results saw Kev Dickinson beat Dick Taylor 3-2 and
Pete Silva beat Rick Woods 3-2 also. The first game of this week’s action was
between Pedro Silva and Dennis Turner. Dennis had the better first leg
hitting a couple of tons and checking out on 8 after four goes. Pedro upped
his form both struggled with doubles but Pedro held to level. Pedro then
upped his form and even though Dennis had shots at doubles pedro took the
next two legs to win 3-1. But all was not lost for Dennis as later on in the
night he took on Rob Scrupps and even though Rob took the opener Dennis upped
his form and checked well to take the next three legs to come out the winner
3-1. Kev Dickinson was looking to keep with the top flight when he played
Rick Woods even though both were scoring well. Kev’s doubles let him down and
Rick took the opener. Rick started the better in leg 2 opening with a ton
scoring well and even though Kev hit 90 to leave 32 Kev checked on 54 in
three to go 2-0 up. Leg three a little slower scoring average scores from
both and as in leg two Kev hit 43 to leave 32 Rick checked out on 30 in two
darts to take a good win of 3-0. The next game saw top of the league Mick
Flynn take on Dick Taylor. Both were scoring well in the first leg Mick scoring
a couple of tons while Dick hit a 140 and a couple of 60-pluses but Mick hit
73 to leave 20 and next chuck he hit 20 in two darts to lead. Dick in the
next leg upped his form scored a ton to start then halfway through the leg
hit a 180 and checked out on 20 first time of asking to level. Both scored
well in leg three but as Dick hit 45 to leave tops. Mick checked out on 79 in
two darts to lead. Leg four saw Dick leave Mick standing back on 105 when he
checked out on 32 to level the match. Dick once again left Mick standing when
he checked out on 65 to take a 15 darter to win the match 3-2. Dick averaged
23.55. Rick Woods then took on Elaine Corke, both took a while to get going
and Rick left 67 and no scored Elaine took out 32 in three darts to lead. Rick
upped his game with a ton in the next leg and left Elaine standing back on
102 when he checked out on 35 in two darts to level. Rick upped his form
again hitting three 80-pluses and a 121 to take the lead. the fourth leg was
anybody’s as Elaine had her chances but Rick held on to check on tops to make
it two wins for him in the night. and closing up to the leading pack. It
didn’t seem to be Rob Scrupps night as he went 2-0 down to Jimmy Birtwhistle
he managed to scrap a point of Jimmy but Jimmy came back to take the match
3-1. Elaine Corke was back for double helpings as she took on Pete Johnson.
Elaine struggled on doubles in the first leg and Pete finished on 16 to take
the opener. Elaine then upped her form to take the next three legs to keep
her in fourth but only just, as Rick Woods is close on her tail with the same
points. John Smiths Challenge League First game of last week’s games saw Bryan Robson beat Tina Willicombe 2-1 with neither improving there league position. Angie Upsall beat Richard Atwell 2-1 keeping her at the top of the ladies. Susie Watson beat Loiuse Charalambou 3-0 in a game where doubles were the deciding factor. George Harness beat Adam Kemp 2-1 to keep him at the top of the league but the chasing pack has games in hand. Lee Dickinson beat Di Jenkins 3-0 which put Lee firmly in second spot but slowed Di’s pace in the challenge for top lady. Emma Grant also slipped up to bottom placed Darren Bierley losing 2-1. First game of the this week’s action was between Tina Willicombe and Richard Attwell. Richard seemed to have the upper hand in leg one with good scoring and finishing on 76 in two for the lead. The next 2 legs were both scrappy both struggling to finish but Tina walked away with a consolation point as Richard won 2-1. Game two saw Daniel Flynn play Chris Limb. They both had an even scoring game both struggling on doubles but Daniel took the three points to move up to third position. It wasn’t Angie Upsall’s night as she played two games. First game she played second placed lady Emma Grant. Emma started well in leg one by scoring a ton to start while Angie took a while to get going then Emma checked out on 65 in three darts to take the lead. Again Emma started the better in leg two and kept up her consistency and checked out in three while Angie was still on 129. Leg three was a bit slower Angie had her chance to steal a point but Emma holed out on 14 to take a good 3-0 win. Angie’s second game was against Bryan Robson. They were both scoring well with Angie the more consistent. But doubles was the problem and Bryan snuck in to take the lead. Bryan was the more consistent in the second leg but both struggled on doubles but Bryan held to go 2-0 up. The last leg was a bit scrappy both having shots at doubles but Bryan got it eventually to take a 3-0 win. Game four saw Chris Limb back for his second game against Lee Dickinson. Both took a while to get going. Lee struggled on his doubles and Chris nipped in to take the lead. Lee upped his form a little in legs 2 and 3 and no problems in the finishing taking a 2-1 win. Emma Grant was back to the oche for her second turn as well as Tina Willicombe. Emma lost some of her form from the earlier game and struggled to finish resulting in Tina taking the first leg. Emma then upped her form in leg two but still struggled on finishing but held her form to level. Leg three was a marathon of darts on the double both ending up in the “mad house” but it was Emma who finish to take the win 2-1. With five points on the night, the rewards have put her on top of the ladies’ section with two games in hand over Angie Upsall. Lee Dickinson then had his second game, this time facing Louise Charalambou. Lee started off the better with scoring but floundered at the doubles and nearly let Louise in as she sat on 24. But Lee took one dart at double two to lead. Lee started well again in leg two but again he was having double trouble and much as the first leg Louise could have had the leg but Lee held on to go 2-0 up. Leg three saw both a little slow. Lee hit a 146 to leave 98 but took another 12 darts to finish the leg to take the 3-0 win. These two wins have knocked long time leader George Harness off the top and put Lee one point ahead. The seventh game of the night was between George Harness and Bryan Robson. Both had steady scoring. Both could have had the first leg, but it was Bryan who hit 32 in one dart to lead. In the second leg George set off with a ton while Bryan just had steady scoring throughout the leg. Bryan hit a 95 to leave 16 but could not hit the double while George was back on 83. Bryan then took 8 out in two darts to take the second leg. Bryan then upped his form and left George standing on 149 when Bryan took out 82 in two darts to take a good win 3-0. Bryan’s average was 17.68. So as we are nearing the end with only a handful of games left, it has all tightened up at the top — the closest it has been for ages. Places first to fourth are still left all open. It is still anybody’s league. |

Round-up
for week ending March 14
Boston Standard Premier League Bob Mountain and Harry Lee got the night’s action going,
both matching each other very well. But it was Bob’s finishing that was good
and consistent which gave him a 4-1 victory. League leader Tony Holland then
played Jamie Robson who is on good form. Tony started the stronger and soon
eased to a 1-0 lead. Jamie levelled with a 17-darter. In leg three, Tony hit
three tons, but 140s from Jamie set up 61 and he duly checked out for a great
15-darter. Tony responded well and left 76 after 12 darts but missed his
chance to pull one back and Jamie hit double eight in one for a 16-darter.
Tony hit back well again but his doubles eluded him and Jamie nipped in to
take the match 4-1 with an average of 26.77. Dave Hasnip saw a chance to
close in on Tony and faced Derek Johnson. A close first leg just went Dave’s
way. Leg two saw Dave up his form and picked of an 18-darter to go 2-0 up.
Derek hit back well in leg three and replied with a super 17-darter. Derek
kept his form going again and left 170 after 12 darts but “Snip’s” perfect
timing yielded a maximum 180 to leave 99. Derek left 110 and “Snip” made it
3-1 with a great 99 for a 15-darter. Leg five was a little steadier from
both. Derek missed his shot to pull another leg back and Dave picked off 20 to
pick up a good 4-1 win. That win moved Dave to top slot, two points ahead of
Tony. Lincs Racing Championship The first game of the night’s action saw Rick Woods face
Dennis Turner. A really close match, all on the doubles, and it was Dennis
who held the better and took a win of 3-1. Dick Taylor then played Pedro
Silva. Dick was very steady through the match and checked out well to pick up
a good 3-0 win. A big game then followed, second versus third, Redvers
Dickinson against Kev Dickinson. A very good match from both, each finishing
well, which set up a fifth leg decider which Redvers took very well to take
the 3-2 win. Next up to the oche was the league leader Mick Flynn against
Jimmy Birtwhistle. Jimmy pushed Mick all the way, but Mick was rock solid and
when he got tot he finish. Mick took them out well for a 3-0 win to keep him
five points clear. Bob Birtwhistle had a toughie, facing Elaine Corke. A real
tussle of a match that led to a deciding leg. A steady final leg saw both
under pressure as they both could not hit the doubles. After six or seven
throws apiece at double one it was Bob who finally held to take the win 3-2.
The final game of the night’s action was between Rob Scrupps and Pete
Johnson. Pete set off well in leg one and made no mistake on the double and
led 1-0. Leg two was a lot closer and looked like being one-all but Rob could
not hit the double and Pete held on to take a 2-0 lead. Pete picked off
scores of 121, 82 and 80 to set up 40 with Rob well back. And just three
darts saw him take out 40 and give Pete a big 3-0 win. John Smiths Challenge League Adam Kemp and Tina Willicombe were first to the oche. A
good first leg from both and it was a good first dart at double 16 for Adam
as Tina left 31. So one up to Adam, Tina battled on and left 89 but Adam left
tops and saw it off for a 2-0. Another good leg from both just marred by the
finishing this time, Tina having a chance but Adam held to take it 3-0.
George harness then took on Lou Charalambou. Louise played quite well but
George was the steadier and checked very well to take a good 3-0 win. Adam
Kemp was back for a second match this time facing Darren Bierley. Darren
pushed Adam all the way and Darren finished well to take a 2-1 victory. A
family match followed. Mum against daughter, Tina Willicombe and Louise
Charalambou. It was Louise who showed mum how to finish and took a 3-0 win.
Richard Attwell then played Darren Bierley. A 59 finish set Richard on his
way. Darren missed his chance to level in a close second leg, so Richard made
it 2-0 after one dart on double eight. A tight third leg followed but Richard
was hitting the doubles and wrapped up a 3-0 win. The final game of the night
saw a big match between second and third — Lee Dickinson and Daniel Flynn.
This was a good match. Lee dominated the first leg but Dan responded in leg
two to level. So to a decider. Both were picking off the tons and soon both
were on a finish. It was tense as both missed a couple of chucks for the win,
but it was Lee’s night as he found the double to take the match 2-1, to stay
second, five points behind George Harness |

Round-up
for week ending March 7
Boston Standard Premier League Dave Hasnip, in second place, took on Harry Lee in the first
game of the night. Dave eased to a 1-0 lead. Harry upped his game and as Dave
missed his double, Harry stepped in to level. Dave responded and retook the
lead 2-1. Dave had a nightmare on the doubles in leg four. He was well in
control but could not pick off the doubles, Harry clawed back but they both
got stuck on double one and it was Harry who took it in an unheard of
46-darter. Dave hit straight back and led again 3-2. Harry was very steady in
the next leg and some costly bounce-outs cost Dave. It all allowed Harry to
level the match. He also produced his best leg in the decider. Again, a
couple of bounces of the 20 wire were costly again for Dave. He was left on
left 148 but Harry saw off tops in two darts for a big win. Three points for
Dave, though, gave him an important consolation reward. The second game saw
Debra Royal take on Derek Johnson. Deb was the more consistent in leg one and
eased through to lead 1-0. Derek was a lot stronger in leg two and a couple
of misses on 36 let Deb in to go 2-0 up. Leg three was basically a repeat of
leg two as again Derek squandered darts on double wires and again Deb picked
off the finish to go 3-0 clear. A similar leg followed again, Deb missing 88
then Derek missed tops. Deb then saw off 40 to take a 4-0 win. Next up to the
oche were Martyn Palmer and Kev Lenton. Martyn was fairly steady and took the
first two legs. Kev kicked in with a 180 on leg three and soon left 48 but
Martyn had a more consistent leg and picked off 20 to go 3-0 up. Kev could
not find the treble bed in leg four as Martyn was “tonning it” and eased to
take the match 4-0. The fourth match was a good match between Tony Hillyard
and Jamie Robson. Both were scoring very highly and consistently but it was
Jamie who could not kill off the doubles when he got to them. No problem for
Tony Hillyard, though, and he was soon 3-0 up. Both continued the form in the
next three legs. This time Jamie found the doubles and levelled the match.
The decider was very close, both picking oFf the ton pluses. Tony left 96,
Jamie hit a 135 to leave 80 and picked off 80 in three darts for a big 4-3
win. Jamie’s average was 24.36 against Tony’s average of 24.03. The final
game of the night saw Debra Royal face Graham Sharp. A good opening leg from
both, Graham hit 135 to leave 84 as Deb hit a ton to leave 106. Graham was on
the wire of the bull to go one up but Deb picked of 106 to take it. Graham
kept his form and eased to level the match. Leg three was the best leg and
saw Deb pick off 60, 66, 140, 121 to leave 114 and Graham responded with 83,
121, 121, 46 to leave 130. But Deb was in top finishing form and picked off
114 to go 2-1 up. Graham responded very well with a 16-darter to level again.
Leg five was close again Graham had the edge but missed his chance of 60 and
Deb picked off 64 to go 3-2 up. Graham was the more consistent in leg six and
found the double 4 to level as Deb left tops. So to a decider. A fairly good
leg, Graham with the arrows left 149 after 15 darts as Deb left 174. Graham
had a loose dart and only left 106 and Deb left 114. Graham set up a double
but once again Deb’s finishing was on fire and picked off 114 again to take
the match 4-3. After those fixtures Tony Holland is top on 65 points after 17
games, Dave Hasnip is second on 64 playing 18, Martyn Palmer is third on 61
with 17 games. Debra Royal is fourth on 60 points with 18 games. Tony
Hillyard is fifth on 54 on 17 games
still all to play for with just six weeks to go. Lincs Racing Championship The night’s action began with a close five-legger
between Elaine Corke and Pedro Silva. A tight opening leg for both. Pedro
finished the stronger to go 1-0 up. A similar leg followed, this time Elaine
checking out to level. A good leg from both in the third but Pedro edged it
to go 2-1. Elaine raised her form a ton and a 140 eased her to 56 and checked
out first time to level. That set up the decider. It was close all the way,
Elaine hit a great 125 to leave 71 and Pedro hit 60 to leave 100. Elaine was
buzzing as she picked off the 71 for a great 3-1 win that moves her up fifth.
Next up for action were Redvers Dickinson and Dennis Turner. A close game,
Redvers the more consistent, though, and finished the better and Redvers
wrapped up a 3-0 win. A good win keeps him second and closing in on Mick Flynn.
The leader Mick Flynn was on next, facing a tough match against in form
Elaine Corke. And it was close as expected both scoring steadily but it was
all about the finishing and Mick was having no problems as Elaine left
doubles. Mick coolly finished and picked up a big 3-1 win to keep top and
lead by five points. The fourth game of the night saw Jimmy Birtwhistle 11th
place take on third place Kev Dickinson. Jimmy was in good steady form in the
opener and made no mistake on the doubles and led 1-0. Jimmy got going even
better in leg two, Kev was pushing hard but a couple of 140s and solid
finishing gave Jimmy a 2-0 lead. Kev responded in leg three and pulled one
back. The fourth leg was very close. Kev hit steady 60s and 80s but Jimmy
found a ton and a 140 and left 16. Kev was on 32 after hitting 79 but he
no-scored and Jimmy stepped in to pick off his double in one dart and picked
up a big 3-1 win. Kev stays fourth on 58 points. Pedro Silva and Redvers
Dickinson were both back to their second games of the night. This was a good
contest. both playing very steadily. Redvers took the opener, but Pedro hit
back straight away hitting 120, 100 at the start and ended the leg with a 70
checkout. A tight third leg saw Redvers leave tops but Pedro was solid on his
doubles and picked off 16 to go 2-1 up. Redvers responded well with steady
scoring and a 60 finish to hold at the finish to claim a 3-2 win. A good win
for Pedro who goes up to fourth. The final game of the night was battled out
by Dick Taylor and Rick Woods. Both were matching each other score for score
hitting and missing doubles, which set up a five-legger. The decider saw Dick
pick off a couple of tons and hit 97 to leave 34. Rick was back on 162 hoping
for another go to set up a finish but Dick made no mistake on 34 and checked
in two darts to take the win 3-2. John Smiths Challenge League Darren Bierley and Bryan Robson got the night’s action
under way. Bryan settled in better and soon eased to the double with Darren
adrift. But Bryan was struggling on the doubles and nearly let Darren in. So
one to Bryan. Leg two saw Bryan pick off 140 and 100 and eased to a 2-0 lead.
Leg three was a lot closer. Darren had his chances but to no avail and Bryan
wrapped it up eventually 3-0. Game two was between Adam Kemp and Angie
Upsall. Adam got going well in leg one but Angie battled on and Adam kept
missing the finish. One more miss from Adam was costly as Angie checked out
to go one up. Angie then got going and soon eased into a lead and made no
mistake on the double and made it 2-0. Angie took the third leg, in equally
consistent style and soon wrapped up a 3-0 win with a fifty finish. To the
oche next were Di Jenkins and George Harness. It was a very close game which
either could have won but it was George who found the doubles and took it 3-0
to remain clear at the top. A player looking to close in on George is third
placed Dan Flynn. But Dan had a toughie against Suzy Watson, and it was Suzy
who had Dan under pressure by hitting scores of 121, 80, 62, and 75, which
eased her to a 32 finish. And she saw off 32 to lead. The second leg was very
close both had a few misses on the doubles and to his relief Dan hit double
10 to level. Dan upped his form in leg three by hitting 100, 123. Suzy just
couldn’t find the treble which eased Dan to 56 and checked in three darts to
take a big 2-1 win. Dan stays third on level points with Lee Dickinson on 46
both four behind George but both with games in hand. The final game saw Angie
Upsall and Suzy Watson take on each other in their second games. A tight
match and all on the doubles, Angie was checking out the better and picked up
a 3-0 win. That win moves Angie up to fifth place overall and now leads the
ladies’ section by one point over Emma Grant. NOTE: Will all players note that
Alison Royal is no longer playing in the league. Her scheduled fixtures will
now be byes. |

Round-up
for week ending February 29
Boston Standard Premier League Dave Hasnip and Bob Mountain fought out a tough tight opening
match that rested all on the doubles, and it was Dave who found them the
better to pick up a good valuable 4-0 win that moves him to second place.
League leader Tony Holland was next into action, taking on Kev Lenton. Kev
was short of match games and was well below par, which left Tony just to plug
away and wrap up the doubles, which he did to pick up a 4-0 win to stay top
and four points clear of Dave. Debra Royal then played Harry Lee. Deb was in
fine form and checked out very well. Harry left shots but never got a sniff,
as Deb picked ’em off for a good 4-0 win to move her to fourth with an
average of 23.30. The final game saw in form Tony Hillyard take on Kev
Lenton. Kev was playing a lot batter this time round and pushed Tony. Tony
picked off a great second leg. Scores of 180, 140, 145 saw him leave 36 after
nine darts but could he not get the 10-darter. It took 19 in the end. That
leg set up a 4-0 win as Kev left shots out but never got a poke. That keeps
Tony in fifth spot, not far off the pace. Tony’s average was 23.86. Lincs Racing Championship Getting the nights action under way were Dick Taylor and
Dennis Turner. A good close match saw Dick take the first two legs but Dennis
rallied back to level. Dick had the edge in leg five and sealed the win with
a cracking 82 finish for a 3-2 win. Second placed Redvers Dickinson took on
Rob Scrupps in match two. A very close match, but it was Rick who was spot-on
with his finishing and wrapped things up for a 3-0 win, slightly denting
Redvers’ title challenge. But there’s still a long way to go though. Next up
were Pedro Silva and Jimmy Birtwhistle. Nineteen and Bull saw Jimmy take the
opening leg. The next three legs were well balanced but Pedro’s finishing was
on form and rattled them off to pull back for a 4-3 win and move up to fifth.
Kev Dickinson faced a tough battle against the consistent Elaine Corke.
Elaine did not get going in leg one and Kev eased to a 1-0 lead. A good
second leg from both saw Elaine missing a couple of shots at 74 and Kev nipped
in to lead 2-0. Elaine nailed the double in leg three, and a super 79 finish
in leg four put her back to 2-2. It was Elaine who was easing down ahead of
Kev to the double and hit 93 to leave 60 with Kev back on 182, but Elaine
could not end the doubles and Kev clawed back and hit 36 in one dart for a
close call win 3-2. Kev is now third level points with Redvers, seven points
off Mick Flynn the leader with a match in hand. Leader Mick Flynn followed
that match taking on Pete Johnson. Mick eased to a 1-0 lead only to see Pete
battle back to lead 2-1. Pete battled hard in leg four and missed his doubles
to take the match and Mick sealed the leg one dart to level. Mick upped his
form in the decider a couple of 60 pluses and a 140, and a ton eased him to double
four with Pete back on 185 and no messing from the leader in one for victory
3-2. The final game of the night saw Rob Scrupps take on former long time
leader Bob Birtwistle. A steady opening leg from both but Rob picked off a
superb 109 finish to lead. Bob raised his game in leg two and levelled.
Another good leg followed and Robs finishing was on fire, 68 in three darts
to lead 2-1. Bob rallied back again and hit 85 to leave 61 as Rob had
previously hit 97 to leave 74, and Rob stepped up to keep his finishing touch
going and picked of the 74 for a super 3-1 win. Cracking finishing from Rob
gave him the night’s top average of 19.25. John Smiths Challenge League A very close game got the night’s action of to a good
start, between league leader George harness and third place Dan Flynn. Some
solid scoring from Dan in leg one eased him to the double with George well
adrift. But the doubles got smaller and smaller as Dan kept missing and
George crept in to lead 1-0. George raised his game in leg two but Dan matched
him and saw off 60 to level. Dan was just the more consistent in the decider
and checked out straight away on 74 for a big 2-1 win over the leader. Next
to the oche was second place Lee Dickinson against Suzy Watson. A good close
match saw Suzy missing shots to win but Lee held on well to take the match
3-0. That win keeps Lee second, just one point behind long time leader
George, and he has two games in hand. He looks favourite, but George looks
sure to have something to say about that. Up to the oche next were Angie
Upsall and Louise Chralambou. Louise took the opener as Angie missed her
doubles. The next two legs were very close but Louise was on the ball on her
doubles and picked them off to take a big 3-0 win. Next up for action were Suzy Watson and Darren Bierley. Suzy was in good steady form in leg one and nearly let Darren in to sneak as Suzy missed several times. But eventually she hit 16 to lead. A good close second leg, Darren missing as well and Suzy held to lead 2-0. Darren made no mistake in leg three to pull one back but a good 2-1 win for Suzy. The fourth game of the night’s action saw Emma Grant take on Chris Limb. Chris had the edge in leg one and eased to a 1-0 lead. Chris nearly let leg two slip as he missed a couple of times but hit double 10 to go 2-0 up. Emma pulled one back in leg three with a better leg and finished better this time. But a 2-1 win for Chris. Di Jenkins moved up to fifth place overall and now leads the ladies section by one as Di just held on to beat Tina Willicombe 2-1 in a really close game. The final game of the night saw Chris Limb back for another match, this time facing Richard Wakefield. Richard was more consistent in leg one and picked off eight to lead 1-0. Chris got going in leg two and missed a couple of chances to level, but Richard took his chance and made it 2-0. Both matched each other in leg three. This time it was Chris who found the double first to pull one back. But it was Richard’s win 2-1. |

Round-up
for week ending February 22
Boston Standard Premier League With several byes and postponements this week, only one
match was played in the Boston Standard Premier Division. This was battled
out between Debra Royal and Bob Mountain. Deb started well with Bob just
behind. But a couple of no scores from Deb gave Bob the chance to lead, which
he took to go 1-0 up. Deb levelled in the next leg. Bob went ahead in the
next leg with an 18-darter. But a 19-darter from Deb levelled the match
again. A steady fifth leg from both, but it was Bob who held on at the finish
to lead 3-2. A good leg from both followed, this time Deb finding a 79 finish
to level. So to scores of a decider. Bob started well with 100, 140, Deb
replied with 100 and 123. A few loose throws then came from both. Bob missed
a 100 checkout and left 20. Deb missed a 96 checkout and Bob picked off 20 to
take a good 4-3 win. Will all players note that Daley Richardson has had to
withdraw and all points have been deducted and adjusted accordingly. Lincs Racing Championship Fourth placed Bob Birtwistle took on Dennis Turner in
the opening game. Bob was the steadier and eased to a 1-0 lead. A much closer
second leg saw both having shots at doubles. This time Dennis held on to
level things up. Bob upped his form in leg three and picked off 32 comfortably
to lead again. Dennis was trying hard in the next, too hard though and loose
darts took the pressure of Bob who was very steady and eased to a 3-1 win
with an average of 17.61. The current league leader was into action next,
Mick Flynn facing Rob Scrupps. Rob was finishing the better and soon found
himself 2-0 up. It was an uphill battle for the leader and Rob wasn’t letting
up. But Mick was now picking off the doubles and levelled the match to a
decider. A good close last leg ensured a tight finish. Rob picked of 76 to
leave 29 but Mick was in title mode and picked of a 76 finish to win the
match 3-2. Kev Dickinson then played Pete Johnson. A real ding-dong battle
with lots of ups and downs from both which led to a five-legger which
eventually went Kev’s way for a 3-2 win, to keep Kev in third place. The fourth game was between Rick Woods and Jimmy
Birtwistle. A close match all on the finish. Rick was first to the finish and
checked dwell each time to pick up a 3-0 win. Jimmy not getting a shot at the doubles he left. The final game
of the division’s fixtures saw Redvers Dickinson take on Dick Taylor. A nervy
scrappy opener. Dick was first down to the doubles but his usual finishing
touch was not at hand and Redvers nipped in to lead. A much better leg from
both followed. With good scoring, Dick left tops after 15 darts. Redvers had
earlier picked off a great 137 to leave 32 and picked it off in one to go 2-0
up. Dick battled on in leg three and was on hand this time to pick off a good
70 finish to pull one back. Redvers really found his form in the next picking
of 84 and hit four consecutive tons to leave 32 and Dick was way back.
Redvers sealed a 3-1 win by picking off 32 in one dart. That win keeps
Redvers second, four points behind the leader with a game in hand. John Smiths Challenge League A full night’s fixtures this week. Getting the evening’s
action under way were Lee Dickinson and George Harness in a top of the table
clash. Lee just edged leg one and George hit 81 to leave 97 as Lee missed 95
and left 17. George stepped in to check out on 97 in three darts, showing why
he is at the top. Another good close leg followed. George was first to act at
the finish and missed 70, Lee then left 64 and George missed 20, Lee stepped
in to show why he is second and picked off 64 to level. That set up a decider
and it was at on the doubles again George missed a couple of shots then Lee
finished on 40. George, to Lee’s surprise, missed again and Lee took his
chance this time to pick up a big win 2-1 to close the gap to six but Lee had
three games in hand setting up a tight finish with only seven games to go.
Lou Charalambou then played Darren Bierley. The first two legs were evenly
shared, the decider saw Louise find some great darts picking off three
80-plus scores. Darren left 166 as Lou went up to face an 80 finish that she
achieved in three darts to pick up a great 2-1 win. Emma grant took on Richard Wakefield in the third match
an evenly fought game but it was Emma who had the finishing touch and picked
up a good 3-0 win. The fourth game was between Dan Flynn and Tina Willicombe.
Dan was in top form in leg one, picking off scores of 100, 100, 60, 91, 70,
78 and 2 in two darts for a 20-darter. Tina was up and down in leg two but
Dan’s form dipped. However, he just held on to go 2-0 up. Tina got going in
leg three and was way ahead. Tina nearly let Dan in after a couple of misses
but Tina finally picked off 36 to pull one back. Two of the top four ladies
in the section then faced each other. Di Jenkins, who currently heads the
female section faced Angie Upsall in third. Both were not at there best in
the opener both having shots to take it eventually Di found double ten to
lead. A similar leg followed this time it was Angie who picked of 32 in one
to level. That set up a nervy decider again all on who held to take the win
and close the gap on Di. Game six saw Chris Limb and Suzy Watson battle out a
close match Chris held on 36 to lead. Chris made it 2-0 with a steadier leg.
But Suzy pulled one back, a 140, 70 and 68 easing her to the winning leg. But
it was still a 2-1 win for Chris. Di Jenkins was back to the oche facing
third placed Alison Royal. A good close match only spoiled by the finishing
as both struggled to pick of the winning doubles. It was Di who held the
better to take a 2-1 win. A vital win for Di to keep her top of the ladies
section on leg difference from Emma Grant. Also back to the oche for there
second games of the night were Angie Upsall and Daniel Flynn. Angie pushed
Dan all the way on a close opener. Angie left 148, but a super 114 checkout
from Dan gave him the lead. A good leg from both followed. Angie was in great
form picking off 81, 100 and a 138 to leave 40 with Dan back on 153. But
Angie just could not find that double bed and Dan nipped in to take it after
a few throws at the doubles to ho 2-up. The third leg was very close, Angie
again having several shots to take it but Darren finally held to pick up a
3-0 win to move up to third place. The final game of the night saw Suzy
Watson take on Chris Limb. The first leg was close but Suzy picked off tops
in one just as Chris left tops so a good hold from Suzy to go one up. Leg two
was another close contest both having a few goes at the doubles and it was
Suzy who held on again to make it 2-0. The third leg saw a repeat of leg two
with Suzy finishing the best to pick up a good 3-0 win. |

Round-up
for week ending February 15
Boston Standard Premier League In a shortened evening for the Premier section, only three
games took place. But it all contributed to Tony Holland regaining top spot.
First up were Tony Holland and Dave Hasnip in a first versus second
shoot-out. Tony took the lead only for Dave to come back to lead 2-1. Leg
four saw some great scoring from Tony to level at 2-2. The next two legs
could have gone either way, both players having chances at doubles. But it
was Tony who ran out a 4-3 win. After a short interval Tony was back to the
oche, this time against Bob Mountain. The first two legs were both close with
Bob scoring a 180 in leg two but this didn’t help him as he went 2-0 down. In
the next two legs, Tony upped his pace by polishing off 18 and 19 dart legs
to take the win 4-0. The last game saw third placed Martyn Palmer move to
second as he took on Harry Lee. Martyn showed some of his form that won him
the Premier title last year with 18 and 16-darters in the first two legs.
Legs three and four were closer with Harry missing several chances in both
legs but couldn’t hit the doubles. Martyn, being the more consistent, walked
away with a 4-0 win and another two 180s added to his growing tally. Martyn
also had the highest average of the night with a 26.00 statistic. Lincs Racing Championship Getting the night’s action under way for Championship was
a re-arranged match between Mick Flynn and Dennis Turner. It was a three-leg
game all going to the wire. It was Mick who stole through to win 3-0. Next up ere Dick Taylor and Jimmy Birtwhistle. First two
legs saw each player take it in turn to command their own legs. The next legs
were scrappy but it was Jimmy who took the 3-1 win. Third match saw Bob
Birtwhistle take on Kev Dickinson. It was Kev who took a 2-0 lead, and it
took a 96 checkout in leg three for Bob to pull one back. But in an even
fourth leg with Bob sat on seven, it was Kev who checked out on 60 to take a
3-1 win. Next to the oche was a long-winded game between Pedro Silva and Pete
Johnson, in a leg-for-leg contest it was Pete who won through a 3-2 winner in
the end. Kev Dickinson returned to the oche when taking on Rob Scrupps. Kev
took the opening leg for Rob to take the next two to lead. Kev then came back
to level, so to a decider, that Rob took in a close final leg. Final game saw
a second outing for both Mick Flynn and Bob Birtwhistle. Bob took an early
lead, which fired up Mick to take the next three legs leaving Bob trailing in
his wake. A good 3-1 win for Mick which moves him to top of the table. John Smiths Challenge League In a topsy-turvy night in the Challenge League, form books were torn up and thrown away as long time leader George Harness was beaten 2-1 by Susie Watson who in turn lost 3-0 to Alison Royal who was also beaten 2-1 by Louise Charalambou earlier in the night. The main points winner of the night was Lee Dickinson who beat Tina Willicombe 2-1 for starters then moved on to a main meal by beating Darren Bierley 3-0. His dessert was the five points that moved him up to second spot, seven points behind George Harness with three games in hand. The main unfortunate of the night was Richard Wakefield who lost 2-1 to Richard Attwell and then went on to a repeat performance losing 2-1 to Bryan Robson in a re-arranged match. |

Round-up
for week ending February 8
Boston
Standard Premier League
The first game saw Martyn Palmer pick off two 180s on
his way to victory over Bob Mountain. Bob had a few shots to take legs, but
Martyn saw it out 4-0. Dave Hasnip has moved to the top of the league. Dave
took on Graham Sharp. After four legs it was all level. Then Dave upped his
game just enough to see out the match 4-2. Dave later took on Debra Royal. A
very good match saw Deb pulling back to level at 2-2. Deb picked off her
double to lead 3-2 in a loose leg. Dave looked to be on his way to level
things, but a couple of misses let Deb have a go at 153 which she duly picked
off brilliantly to take the match 4-2. Tony Holland played Derek Johnson.
Derek is well on form and picked off two maximums but the doubles remain
elusive for him at the moment, which gave Tony the chances he needed to take
a 4-1 win. That puts Tony second behind Dave but with a match in hand. Martyn
Palmer was back to the oche facing Graham Sharp. A close match saw both
probably not at their best, which saw them go to a decider in which Martyn
had the edge and finished first dart for a 4-3 victory to move to third. Lincs Racing Championship Rick Woods took the opening match 3-2 against Kev
Dickinson. Pedro Silva was made to work hard for another win as he battled
hard to beat Rob Scrupps 3-2. It was not Kev’s night as he returned to take
on the inform Elaine Corke. The latter took the match 3-1. Pete Johnson’s
form on the doubles continues as he won in the decider to beat Rick Woods
3-2. Elaine Corke was back this time up against Dick Taylor it was Elaine who
was in good form again, finishing the match 3-0 ahead. The final game saw
Redvers Dickinson take on Jimmy Birtwhistle. It was a close game but Redvers
edged it 3-0. That win puts Redvers on top. Kev Dickinson hit a 180 and the
top average came from Elaine Corke with a 17.59 John Smiths Challenge League Richard Attwell took the opening match against Emma ‘Two Step’ Grant. It was Richard who was moving in time and took a 3-0 win. Suzy Watson, nice to see back after her injury was playing well and took a 2-1 win over Tina Willicombe. Lee Dickinson was steady against Angie Upsall and picked up a good 3-0 win. Dan Flynn got back to winning ways. He picked up two good victories, the first a 3-0 win over Darren Bierley. The final game saw George Harness move even further ahead after picking up a 3-0 win over Chris Limb. The night’s top average came from Lee Dickinson with a figure of 17.68. The night’s highest finish came from George with 68. |

Round-up
for week ending February 1
Boston Standard Premier League Jamie Robson played Kev Lenton in the opening game of the night. Jamie was finishing well and soon led 2-0. Kev was battling back, but a cracking 136 finish put Jamie 3-0 up. Kev pulled one back in the fourth but Jamie sealed the match in leg five to pick up a 4-1 win. Tony Hillyard then faced Derek Johnson. A close first leg saw Tony just edging it. Tony picked off scores of 60, 140, 100, 180 and picked off 21 for a great 15-darter to go 2-0 up. Derek battled on and rushed Tony into leg three but Tony was checking out well, 40 in one dart for a 3-0 lead. Derek replied again but Tony was on form and wrapped up the match 4-0. That win moves Tony to third place. Two of the title challengers then met, Dave Hasnip and Martyn Palmer. Martyn had the better start and son was one up. Martyn was scoring well again but Dave was on form and finished on 56 for an 18 darter. Dave upped his game again rattling off 85, 80, 81, 140 and a lovely 115 finish for a 15-darter, as Martyn left 123. Leg four was really close. Martyn left 76 but Dave hit a super 137 to leave tops and Martyn, under pressure, left 32 and Dave held to go 3-1 up. Leg five was a little scrappy possibly the nerves for both but as Martyn missed 50 Dave held his nerve to seal a big 4-1 win to go second in the Premier Division. Lincs Racing Championship Mick Flynn moved to the top of the league after picking
up two good wins. His first victory was in the opening game of the night,
taking on Dick Taylor. A close fought game. Mick had the upper hand for a
change, beating Dick 3-1 with an average of 19.78. Mick’s other match was at
the end of the night’s play against fourth placed Kev Dickinson. A big match
for both. Kev took the opening leg a 62 finish just at the right time
levelled it for Mick. Mick then hit a couple of 140s to set up an 18 darter
to lead 2-1. A scrappy fourth leg after some good early scoring from both but
it was Mick who took it for a 3-1 win with an average of 18.66. Redvers
Dickinson is only a point behind after picking up a win in a really hard
fought battle with Elaine Corke, which went all the way to a decider just
edging was Redvers 3-2. Pedro Silva continued his great run of form. The new
darts are really working well. Pedro faced long-time leader Bob Birtwhistle.
Both were scoring very steady in leg one but it was Bob first on the double,
a costly miss though and Pedro saw of 42 to lead. Pedro then picked off three
tons on his way to a 66 finish and it was 2-0. Leg three saw Pedro pick of 3
more tons but a few loose darts let bob catch up and leave 50 but Pedro held
on the third attempt and picked up a big 3-0 win with an average of 20.04.
Bob now drops to third. Dennis Turner picked up a 3-2 win over the battling
Jimmy Birtwhsitle. A game that could have gone either way by the looks of it.
There was another five-leg battle between Rick Woods and Rob Scrupps. Rick
took the doubles in he first two legs. Rob hit back in the third and levelled
in the fourth after picking of a great 171 and finishing quick too. That set
up a close decider, which Rob took for a 3-2 win. Pete Johnson finally realised
his board does have doubles on it that he can hit as well. Pete also was
hitting the tons to in a good close match with Dick Taylor. Pete picking of
doubles to his enjoyment and took the match 3-1. John Smiths Challenge League George Harness extended his lead and hold on the
challenge league. George took on Tina Willicombe. George was in good form in
leg one a 135 and a 108 set up 32 and picked it of to lead. Tina kept with
George in leg two and hit 92 to leave 77 but George was in the mood and
picked off his 49 in two darts. The last leg was close again Tina had a
couple of shots to pull one back but George held to take the match 3-0. Game
two was between second place Bryan Robson and Emma Grant. The rhythm and the
beat was with Emma in the opener and she soon led 1-0. Another good leg from
both followed, this time Bryan was quick on his feet and levelled the match.
So it was a dance off, well with last weeks dancing and this weeks disco what
else. Anyway a close leg Bryan was first to the finish but a costly miss and
Emma waltzed in to take the match on double four in one. At the oche next
were Richard Wakefield and Adam Kemp. Adam was in good form in leg one aided
by a ton and 134 Adam eased to a 1-0 lead. A good second leg from Adam
followed but some poor finishing nearly let Richard nick it. But Adam held
with his next throw to lead 2-0. Richard found his form in leg three but his
finishing was just not there and that let Adam catch up and take the match
3-0. Match four was between Darren Bierley and Di Jenkins. A good close match
but it was Di who was checking very well which gave her the 3-0 win. That
keeps Di top of the ladies section too, ahead of Emma on the same points but
Di a game in hand. Next up were Daniel Flynn and Alison Royal. A tight first
leg Ali left 140 but Dan picked off 56 to lead. Ali replied instantly picking
of 81,100 and sealing the leg with a cracking 102 finish. That set up a tense
decider both had a couple of chucks at the finish but Ali found the winning
one to take a good 2-1 win, and early birthday pressy. The final game of the
night was between Richard Atwell and Chris Limb. Both had several chucks to
take the opener, which eventually went to Chris. Richard should have
levelled, in the second but there’s no “should” in darts only doubles hit and
it was Chris that hit his to lead 2-0. The third was a good leg from Richard
more like his form. A good start and a ton and a couple of 60 pluses set up
51 and picked it off in three darts to pull one back but it was a 2-1 win for
Chris. |

Round-up
for week ending January 25
Boston Standard Premier League The opening game saw Bob Mountain play Graham Sharp. Graham was first down to the double, but he failed to finish and Bob took the first leg. Same happened in leg two and Bob led 2-0. Bob had the edge in leg three. Graham left a double but Bob couldn’t miss and it was 3-0. Graham really upped his game and left 161 after 12 darts and picked off 137 to leave 64 but the doubles was his troubles and Bob came down and wrapped up a 4-0 win. To the oche next was Tony Hillyard who took on Harry Lee. A close game saw Harry having his shots, but Tony was picking off the doubles and soon led 3-0. Harry responded and this time hit the doubles and soon pulled it back to 3-3. Tony started really well but the doubles were not there and Harry clawed his way back. Harry got one shot but missed and Tony picked of 16 to take the win 4-3. Graham Sharp was back to the oche to take on Derek Johnson. Derek took control of leg one but could not find the double and Graham found his double at last to lead. A close second leg followed before Graham took to lead 2-0. Graham then found top form, picking off 121, 180, 82, 58 and 60 (game shot) for a 15-darter to lead 3-0. Derek responded well in the next leg and held well to pull one back, but Graham was back in the groove and hit 98, 100, 180, 24 and finished the match of with a 99 checkout for a 4-1 win. The last game of the night was a real good battle between Dave Hasnip and Tony Hillyard. Both were banging in the scores and it was all on the doubles the match was swinging to and fro and as both were hitting and missing doubles it ended up 3-3 going to a decider. As the leg unfolded Dave had the advantage but could not push the advantage home and a couple of lose shots let Tony close in. Dave left 40 but the wires were holding the dart of and Tony took his chance to pick up a good 4-3 win. Lincs Racing Championship Getting the night’s action under way were Elaine Corke
and Mick Flynn. Elaine started very well and strongly but Mick powered back
and nipped into the lead. Mick battled on with Elaine in hot pursuit but Mick
did not miss his first shot at the finish and went 2 up. Elaine hit back well
but again her finishing was not as sharp as it usually is and Mick took it
3-0. Kev Dickinson then played Dennis Turner. A very good match. Dennis took
the opener finishing on 80, but Kev responded well to level. Dennis had a
couple of throws to re-take the lead but Kev took his to lead. Dennis battled
hard to set up a decider but Kev held well to take the match 3-1. Pedro Silva was just starting to get his form very
steady took on Mick Flynn, and as expected the match lived up to i9its
billing both matching scores for scores. Mick held well in the first, as did
Pedro in leg two. Leg three saw Pedro pick off three tons and an 85 to ease
to 2-1 up. Mick started well and was on course to level but Pedro picked of a
max 180 to leave 56, Mick then missed 47 finish and Pedro took his chance to
wrap up a big 3-1 win. Bob Birtwhistle got back to winning ways but it was a
game that Rick Woods had his chances to win 3-0 also. Next to the oche was
Rob Scrupps and Dick Taylor. A close opener Rob was the quicker and took the
opening leg. Dick was handier at the doubles in the next and it was 1-1. A
scrappy finish to a good leg in the next saw Rob take the lead again. Back
came Dick to level in another tight leg, so a decider. A good steady leg from
both as Rob left 80 Dick was looking at 60 for the match, which Dick held
well and picked of 60 to take the win 3-2. Next up were Pete Johnson and
Redvers Dickinson. The first leg was who could hit the double first as both
had chances, several infact but double one came to Redvers and to lead 1-0. A
good leg from both again Pete left 137 but Redvers was on the ball and picked
picked of a super 104 to lead 2-0. Pete must be thinking what has he got to
do to hit a double as he just cant seem to find them lately. Another chance
in leg three went by and Redvers wrapped it up 3-0. Jimmy Birtwhistle then
played Elaine Corke, Jimmy was in good steady form and a 56 finish,
eventually, gave Jimmy the first leg. Leg 2 was closer but double trouble for
both in the end Jimmy had a 2-0 lead. Leg three saw Jimmy the more consistent
and eased to pick up a good 3-0 win over Elaine. The final game of the night
was a family affair. Redvers Dickinson played Kev Dickinson, and it was Kev
who was scoring very highly and finishing strongly to take a big 3-0 win. John Smiths Challenge League Getting the night’s action under way were Bryan Robson
and Richard Attwell. Two close legs saw it all level. Their third game was
the best leg. Bryan was just the more consistent and a 48 finish gave him the
2-1 win. Game two was between Angie Upsall and league leader George Harness. Angie was not at her best and George was too steady and soon led 1-0. Angie was a lot better in leg two but so was George. But a miss from George gave Angie a chance but just missed and George took it to go 2-0 up. Leg three should have been Angie’s but finishing was the problem. However, George has the doubles just when he needs them and took the match 3-0. Bryan Robson was back to the oche to play Chris Limb. Bryan was in good steady form again and was checking well, just too good for Chris on the night and Bryan had his second win of the night this time 3-0. Richard Attwell then faced Daniel Flynn. Nothing but the doubles separated both of them as one missed the other hit, which led to a 2-1 win for Richard. Match five was between Adam Kemp and Emma Grant. The first leg was Emma’s as Emma was very steady and checked in one dart to lead. Leg two was for the taking for Emma again but Emma could not pick of and Adam levelled. A close leg followed Emma the steadier again but nearly let Adam in as 40 became elusive, but so did 20 for Adam, this time Emma nailed it for a 2-1 win. Tina Willicombe was up next taking on Angie Upsall. The first two legs could have gone to either of them. Angie was the one who found the doubles to lead 2-0. Angie then played a good leg just like her form and finish straight away. Angie wrapped up a good 3-0 win. Richard Wakefield toed the oche, facing the battling louise Charalambou. A battle it was and after several throws and several missed shots it ended up 2-1 to Louise. The final game of the night was between Tina Willicombe and the lobbing Chris Limb. Both were leading each a merry dance at the oche but there darts were on a waltz. Tina was the one who lead the dance and soon led 2-0. Chris finally got his lob on fire and managed to get up to the double one to pull one back but it was a 2-1 win for Tina. |

Round-up
for week ending January 18
Boston Standard Premier League Harry Lee took on Daley Richardson for the opening game
of the night. Daley took the first leg with a super 100 in two darts. Harry
bit back with his own 90 finish in leg two to level. Three tons from Daley
eased him to a 2-1 lead. Daley had a chance to go further ahead but missed
doubles let Harry level the match. Harry picked up his form and soon went
ahead for the first time. In the sixth leg Harry just had the edge and picked
off 16 to take a 4-2 victory. Match two was between two team-mates Kev Lenton
and Derek Johnson. A close match ensued with not a lot separating them. But Kev
finished well and took a 4-0 win. Jamie Robson then played Harry Lee, the
latter back for his second visit to the oche. Jamie was the more consistent
and finished the legs off as Harry sat waiting for a shot. Jamie took the win
4-0. A nip and tuck match followed between Tony Hillyard and Bob Mountain.
Both scored fairly steadily but it was Tony who was checking best and picked
up a 4-1 win. The best game of the night was then played. Martyn Palmer faced
the in-form Debra Royal. Deb outscored Martyn in leg one but six missed darts
at doubles let Martyn in and he checked out on 70 to lead. Another good leg
followed. Deb left 20 after 18 darts but Martyn picked off 12 in one for a
16-darter to lead 2-0. Leg three saw Deb score well again but the doubles were
elusive again and Martyn held again to lead 3-0. Three 60s and two 140s set
up Deb to take the leg and this time picked it off for a 17-darter. The fifth
leg was just Martyn’s as he left 40 with Deb a bit back and Martyn sealed the
win 4-1. The final game of the night and re-arranged fixture between Jamie
Robson and Derek Johnson. Derek started the leg well and kept his form and
held well on the finish to take the lead. Derek kept his form in leg two but
Jamie raised his game and levelled with a super 110 finish in three darts.
The third leg was another good leg from both, Derek hit a ton to leave 98 but
Jamie was hitting the doubles and 61 in three darts put him 2-1 up. Jamie had
momentum now, Derek pushing him all the way through and Derek left a finish again.
But Jamie was holding well on and took out 37 to lead 3-1. Derek upped his
game with scores of 125, 140, 100 to set up a 68 finish which Derek checked
off to pull back to 3-2. That seemed to spur Jamie on as he rattled off 125,
140, 100 and one dart at tops sealed the win 4-2 with an average of 23.28. Lincs Racing Championship Getting the night’s action under way were Rob Scrupps
and Pete Johnson. A close opener in which, for a change, Pete Johnson found
his doubles. Pete picked off 68 to take the lead. Pete had a chance to go
two-up as Rob couldn’t find the doubles. But so did Pete, and next chuck Rob
levelled. Rob went 2-1 up holding on well on 34 in one dart. Another close
leg Rob was to the double first a couple of early misses gave Pete a chance
to level but Pete missed again and next shot Rob made no mistake and wrapped
up a 3-1 win. Into action next were Elaine Corke and Dennis Turner. Dennis
took the first leg. Dennis then bust on 69 and another miss let Elaine in and
she took her chance, finishing on 32 to level. The third leg was a good leg
from both. Dennis picking off three tons and left 54. Elaine replied with
100, 85, 84, 114 to leave eight and she took the lead 2-1. Another good leg
followed. Dennis picked off a couple of tons but Elaine was well in form with
81, 85, 100, 100 and checked out on a superb 88 to seal a good 3-1 victory.
Pete Johnson was back to the oche, this time against Jimmy Birtwhistle. An
evenly matched first leg, Pete left 36 but Jimmy took the opener by picking
off 18. Pete battled hard in leg two and left tops thinking he would level as
Jimmy sat on 111. But Jimmy was on the mark and checked it out in three darts
to lead 2-0. Leg three was tight again. Pete had a pop at 36 but missed and
Jimmy nipped in on 39 to pick up a good 3-1 win. Rob Scrupps returned to the
oche to face second placed Redvers Dickinson. Redvers just edged the first
two legs. Rob hit back in leg three. Redvers upped his game in leg four,
picking off 140, 100 and left 49. Rob left 80 but Redvers, the in form player
at the moment, picked off 49 to take the match 3-1. Game five saw league
leader Bob Birtwhistle take on Dick Taylor. A good first leg, Dick was the
first to pick of the double to take the lead. Bob hit back, just, in leg two
to level. Another close leg again in the third and it was Dick who was
finding the double again and led 2-1. The fourth leg was the best from both,
but it was Dick who had the upper hand and picked off a couple of tons. Dick
left 32 and Rob left 79 but it was Dick that was on hand at the doubles and
picked off 32 in one to pick up a big win over the leader 3-1, leaving Bob
looking over his shoulder. Mick Flynn looking another danger to the leader
took on Rick Woods. Mick was the better in leg one and soon led. Rick had a
chance to level in leg two but missed tops letting Mick in to lead 2-0. A
close third leg again, Rick had a shot to pull one back but Mick cool under
pressure hit double 10 to take a good 3-0 win. The seventh game of the night
was between Pedro and Kev Dickinson. Kev started very steadily in leg one but
a strong finish from Pedro of 100, 99 and out on 54 in two darts gave him the
lead. Both had a couple of goes at the doubles in leg two but it was Pedro
who hit the winning one to take a 2-0 lead. Kev hit back in the next hitting
ton, ton, 140. Pedro hit back with a maximum 180, but a couple of loose
throws followed and Kev set his double up and took it to pull one back. Leg
four was close but it was Pedro who always had the edge and a good finish of
68 sealed the win for Pedro 3-1. The final game of the night saw Redvers Dickinson take
on Mick Flynn a clash at the top end of the table. Redvers picked off an 80
finish as Mick left 74. So one up to Redvers. Mick responded well in leg two,
his lowest score being 59 to set up tops and he hit it in two darts to level.
Mick was on fire in leg three picking off 85, 81, 100, 121 and rounded of a
brilliant leg of 15 darts with a 114 finish. Redvers was not fazed and
battled hard and forced Mick into missing his doubles and Redvers levelled
the match. A good close tense decider saw Redvers picking off a couple of
tons to keep the pressure on Mick. The latter hit back with a ton to leave 85
but Redvers was on 32 and finished it off in two darts to pick up a big
result of 3-2 and moved to the top of the league held for along time by Bob,
but it’s very tight at the top with many games to go. John Smiths Challenge League First game of the night’s play was battled out between
Alison Royal and Chris Limb. First leg was long and could have gone either
way Eventually it went to Chris. Another long leg that started well but the
doubles not their for both players again went to Chris. A better leg from
both but Chris just had the edge and checked out a bit quicker this time to pick
up a 3-0 win. Game two was between Adam Kemp and Richard Attwell. Adam hit
117 to leave tops and Richard hit 81 to leave 51. Adam made no mistake when
picking off tops in one dart. A tight second leg followed, both missing the
doubles and it was Adam who hit double 11 to lead 2-0. Richard had a good
third leg picking of 98, 100 and 99 and saw off 10 to pull one back, so a
good 2-1 win for Adam. Current leader George Harness was next into action,
George taking on Darren Bierley. It was Darren who started and finished the
better in leg one and took the lead 1-0. Darren started very well in leg two
but faltered at the end and a couple of missed doubles let George in to
level. George had the momentum now and scored better and George hit 83 to
leave 74 as Darren could only leave 149. George stepped up and as the top
dogs do checked of 74 to take a good 2-1 win. Di Jenkins played Richard
Wakefield. Di was in good steady form and eased to a 1-0 lead. Richard
replied well but a costly bust on 65 let Di back in which pressured Richard
and missed his double and Di made it 2-0. Leg three was very close, Richard
first down to the finish but could not capitalise on it and as Richard kept
missing, Di edged nearer. Di could not find the doubles either. After a few
chucks apiece it was Richard’s turn to find the double to pull a point back
but another good 2-1 win for Di. A re-arranged fixture followed as Chris Limb took on Darren Bierley. A long fought out first leg ensued eventually by Darren. A better leg from both followed this time Chris checked first time. So on to a decider. A good leg from both only the finishing spoiling it and after several chances for both the match was sealed by Darren hitting 14 for a 2-1 victory. The final game of the night was between Louise Charalambou and Emma Grant. Both matched each other score for score but it was Emma who took the leg finishing on 20. Emma was edging leg two but some loose darts let Louise close in and missed her chance and Emma this time hit 4 to take a 2-0 lead. Another evenly matched leg again for the last leg and both were struggling to finish this time it was Louise’s turn to take the leg but it was Emma’s win of 2-1. |

Boston Standard Premier Division The second half of the campaign got under way this week. The opening match was a re-arranged fixture between Harry Lee and Tony Holland. Harry had the edge in the opener. A close second leg followed, Harry missed 74 to go 2-0 up and Tony levelled with a 76 finish. Tony went ahead with a 17-darter. Leg 4 was scrappy but Tony went 3-1 up. Harry then missed a 170 finish for a 15-darter, but pulled one back with a 25 finish in two darts. The sixth leg was a cracker from both players. Harry hit a 180 and a 140 to leave 32. Tony had picked off scores of 100, 85, 81, 140 and 93 to leave 32 also, Harry missed his chance and Tony picked his of to take the win 4-2. To the oche for match two were Graham Sharp and Tony Hillyard. A tight opener saw Tony just miss the bull for what would have been a great 161 finish and Graham picked off tops in one to lead. Tony levelled with a 66 in leg two. In a close third leg Tony missed his first shot and that let Graham in to take a 2-1 lead. Scrappy legs followed which Tony took to have a 3-2 lead. In the sixth leg Graham had the edge and hit a ton to leave 76 but Tony rose to the challenge and picked of a great 106 to take the match 4-2. Bob Mountain then took on Jamie Robson, the first three legs were very close all on the doubles, Jamie was the sharper and soon led 3-0. Bob sparked into life in the next picking off 60, 140, 60, 120 followed by a bull finish on 121 for a 15-darter. Bob missed his shot at 96 in leg five and Jamie pounced and picked off 16 to take the match 4-1. A cracking match followed between Debra Royal and Toby Holland. A tight tense opener that Deb took. Tony levelled with an 18-darter with a 121 finish. Tony had the chance to go 2-1 up but missed his double and Deb stepped in with a 113 finish to lead 2-1. Leg four was top notch, Deb picked off 140, 100, 45, 80 to leave 36. Tony replied with 140, 140, 100, 85 and missed 36 then Deb in one dart finished on 36 to lead 3-1. Tony responded immediately in leg five with scores of 100, 100, 140, 96 to leave tops. Deb had hit 100, 140, 100 and left 110 but Tony picked off 40 in two darts to make it 3-2. Leg six was close, Tony just edging to level the match to set up a decider. Tony arrowed nearest to the bull to take first throw and after 9 darts apiece, Tony left 241 and Deb left 181 scoring 55, 125 and 140. Tony hit 60, 59,and 91 to leave 31. Deb replied with 95 to leave 86 but missed and left 14. Deb missed 6 and double 4 and Tony stepped in on 31 in three darts to pick up a big win, in a great match between them again. A little later Debra was back in action up against Jamie Robson. Jamie missed double eight in the opener and Deb left tops. One dart was enough to lead 1-0. Deb was in steady form and was checking out brilliantly. In the next three legs Deb’s lowest scores were 45, 45, 46, 55 which left Jamie well back hoping Deb would slip up. But Deb was cheeky and picked up a big 40 win with an average of 24.43. The night’s highest average was 24.47, set by Tony Holland. So after those results Tony Holland goes top on 49 points, Dave Hasnip second on 42 points, Martyn Palmer third with 40 points as well as Debra Royal who is also on 40 points. Lincs Racing Championship Pedro Silva and Dennis Turner got the night’s action
under way. An even opening leg in terms of scoring and missing doubles saw
Pedro find double 16 in one dart to take the lead. Pedro was the steadier in
leg two and one dart at 36 put him 2-0 up. Dennis upped his game in the next
leg and took the leg to pull one back. Pedro responded and just kept ahead,
and as Dennis edged close Pedro picked of 64 in three darts to wrap up the
match 3-1. The second match saw Redvers Dickinson take on Rob Scrupps.
Redvers was the stonger in leg one and eased into a 1-0 lead. Redvers kept
his form going in leg two and nearly tripped up as Rob stormed back but
Redvers held well to lead 2-0. It was soon 3-0 win for Redvers a 24-dart leg
wrapped up the match with an average of 19.51. Elaine Corke played Pete
Johnson. Elaine eased to a double but Pete missed a 126 finish, but Elaine
held to take the opener. This time Pete had the edge but his finishing let
him down and Elaine nipped in to lead 2-0. That spurned Elaine into action
and took the match 3-0 with a 23 darter with an average of 17.07. Redvers
Dickinson was back to the oche, taking on the league leader Bob Birtwhsitle.
Redvers was in the mode as previoulsy
and soon had Bob under pressure and eased to a 1-0 lead. Redvers was
on a roll a lowest score of 60 after 18 darts left 24 with Bob way back and
one dart gave him a 19-darter and a 2-0 lead. Bob battled back in leg 3, but
Redvers matched him and took out tops in one dart for a big 3-0 win that
moved him to second place with an average of 20.58. Jimmy Birtwhistle took on
Rob Scrupps. A close first leg saw Rob just the more consistent but Jimmy
missed a shot to take the opener but Bob came back and held on 20. Jimmy had
another chance in leg 2 but missed doubles got him and Rob picked of 68 to
lead 2-0. Jimmy kept his form going in leg 3 and this time picked off a great
99 finish to pull one back. Rob bounced back with a good leg and sealed the
win 3-1 with a 42 finish. Despite the defeat Bob Birtwhistle remains top on
43 points as Redvers closes in in second place on 39 points with two matches
in hand Mick Flynn third on 37 points with three games in hand. Elaine Corke
moves up to fourth place on 36 points with two in hand and Rick Woods fifth
on 36 points and also one game in hand. John Smiths Challenge League First game of the night was between Louise Charalambou
and Chris Limb. Louise started the stronger but slowed up as the finish
loomed. Chris caught up, both had double trouble, Chris coming out on top to
lead 1-0. A much better leg followed from both no messing on the doubles this
time Chris first there and checked straight away to lead 2-0. Leg three just
like leg one and could have gone either way but it was Chris who found the
double to win 3-0. Next up were Bryan Robson and Adam Kemp. Bryan hit a
couple of tons that eased him to the opener. Adam replied well in leg two but
Bryan was with him and Adam missed his double to level and Bryan stepped in
to take a 2-0 lead. A tight 3rd leg followed. Adam had his chances again but
missing again. Brayn wasn’t and coolly picked off double 18 for a good 3-0
win. Tina Willicombe then took on Darren Bierley. This was an up and down
game and all on the doubles. Tina took the first leg, Darren levelled to set
up a decider that Darren had his shots at but missed and Tina came back and
finished first time on 27 to win the match 2-1. Louise Charalambou was back,
this time facing Richard Attwell. Louise was the steadier in leg one and
first dart at 30 gave her the lead. Richard levelled the match finishing on
47 as Lou left 30. So a tense decider followed. Richard started with a 121
and steady darts followed to leave 40 after 21 darts with Louise well back.
But the old double trouble kicked in for Richard and slow but surely Louise
caught up and eventually took the leg to take the match 2-1. The top of the
pack was up next George Harness taking on Alison Royal. Ali had a shot in leg
one but just missed and George held to lead. Both scored very steady in leg
two Ali hit 98 to leave 76 to pressure George but the old boy’s nerves held
for a great 116 finish. George kept the momentum going in leg three. Ali was
not far behind. George left 56 in his next throw saw it off for a 3-0 win.
The following match saw Adam Kemp back to the oche to face Di Jenkins. Both
stared well but struggled to finish of the leg, and after a few chucks apiece
at the doubles, Di was first to pick off double one. Adam got leg two off to
a better start but his shots at the doubles cost him again and as Di caught
him up Di picked of double 12 to take a 2-0 lead. Di was the more consistent
in the last leg and picked of double three for a good 3-0 win. The
penultimate match was between Angie Upsall and Chris Limb. Angie started well
with a cracking leg scoring 70, 60, 40, 92, 85, 85 and a 69 finish for a
great 20-darter with Chris well back. Undeterred Chris got back on track with
Angie in hot pursuit, Chris held well and picked of 38 as Angie left tops, so
all level. The final leg was close. Angie was scoring the better and should
have wrapped it up but those elusive doubles appeared and Chris nipped in at
the end to take the win 2-1. The final game of the night saw Emma Grant take
on Di Jenkins. An evenly fought first leg only marred by the poor finishing
but it was Di who found double three to lead. Em upped her game in the next
and was comfortable in the lead all the way to the finish, a couple of near
misses nearly cost Emma but Di had one shot, but Emma made no mistake next
throw and levelled the game. So in the decider both scored quite well and
consistently. the pressure must have been on as Di and Emma could not nail
the doubles, it was Emma’s night though as Emma picked off 16 to take the
match 2-1. So no change at the top of the table. George still leads on 36
points. Lee Dickinson stays second on 38 with a game in hand. Daniel Flynn
stays in third on 31 points and two games in hand, and Bryan Robson remains
in fourth on 31 points. The highest placed lady at the moment is Diane
Jenkins who is on 26 with Emma Grant and Angie Upsall on the same points of
25. Alison Royal is fourth on 22 points. |

Round-up
for week ending January 4
Boston Standard Premier Division No fixtures this week Lincs Racing Championship Getting 2008 fixtures under way were Dennis Turner and Pete Johnson. Pete was looking to start the new year as he saw out the old as he had beaten the long time leader Bob Birtwhistle. But Dennis had other ideas. A 60 finish saw Dennis take the opener, both had several shots to take leg 2 but it was Dennis who held on to lead. Pete missed his chance in leg 3 and that set Dennis up for the 3-0 picking off 48 for a 3-0 victory. Next into action were Elaine Corke and Rob Scrupps. Rob
came from behind to take the first legs Elaine missed her doubles. Leg 2 was
another good leg Rob picking of shots of 100, 81, 99, 114 but Elaine matched
them with a 140 and a 139 and finished on 32 to level the match. Elaine kept
her form just the more consistent in the next and one dart at 20 gave her a
2-1 lead. Rob battled on but Elaine was steady and picked of a great 106
finish for a good 3-1 win with an average of 20.04 the nights top average. Match 3 saw the Birtwhistle boys battle it out. Jimmy
taking on elder brother Bob. A close match but it was Bob league leader take
the first 2 legs. Jimmy found some good form in leg 3 with 81, 140, 60, 83
and 48 in two to pull one back. Bob hit back well in leg 4 and soon finished
of the match 3-1 after final whistle. A re-arranged fixture then followed
between Dennis Turner and Rob Scrupps. A steady opening leg from both, but
Dennis just the sharper at the finish and led one-nil. Both picked of a 140
and a ton in leg 2 but Rob had the edge and levelled finishing on 40. A tight
leg 3, Rob again showing the better and took the lead. Leg 4 again close and
poor finishing from both but Rob took his chance to pick up a good 3-1 win. Kev Dickinson then faced Dick Taylor. Both steady but a
great 62 finish gave Kev the lead. Dick responded well in leg 2 and soon
levelled. Leg 3 was another tight battle, Kev first to the double and one
dart at tops saw Kev go back in front. Dick missed a 110 finish then Kev
missed 36. Back came Dick but missed double 4 to level. This time Kev found
double 9 for a 3-1 win. The final game saw Rick Woods take on Pedro Silva. A
very close match just the finishing was letting them both down but not so
much for Rick as he took his chances to pick up a 3-1 win. So after 17
matches Bob Birtwhistle leads on 43 points. Mick Flynn is second on 37 with a
couple of games in hand. Rick Woods moves up to third place, Kev Dickinson
stays fourth, Dick drops to fifth, Redvers goes to sixth and Elaine’s win
moves her up to seventh. John Smiths Challenge League Emma Grant and Daniel Flynn got the night’s play going.
Daniel won the bull and was the more consistent and soon eased to a 1-0 lead.
Emma got going in leg 2 and tops in 1 levelled the match. Leg 3 the best
scoring from both soon fizzled out as both of their finishing was not so
clever and after both had several chances for victory it was Daniel that held
eventually to take the match 2-1. Tina Willicombe then took on Alison Royal.
A steady start from both but both had double trouble. After a few more chucks
it was Tina who came out on top to lead 1-0. Again the scoring was good but
just as in the first leg doubles were elusive again. This time Ali found it and
levelled. Leg 3 a repeat of leg 1 and 2, scores on but not there best night
for finishing, could have gone either way this time it went Tinas to take a
2-1 win. Emma Grant was back to the oche for a re-arranged match
against third placed Lee Dickinson. Emma pushed Lee all the way but Lee was
finishing well and had to which gave Lee a big 3-0 win. Game 4 was between
Richard Attwell and Di Jenkins. Di started the better but some loose
finishing nearly let Richard back in, but Richard missed his doubles to but
Di found double 3 to take the lead. Richard upped his game and eased down to
the double but Richard could not kill it off and Di took her chance and led
2-0. Both matched each other in leg 3, Richard left 82 but he busted on it
and that gave Di a chance to finish the match off which she did to take a
good 3-0 win. To the oche next were Darren Bierley and Angie Upsall. A
140 from Angie at the end of the first leg put the pressure on Darren but
Angie could not find the doubles and Darren nipped in to take it. Angie hit
back in leg 2 picked of another 140 at the right time and this time finished
it off to level the game. Darren could not find his form in the decider,
Angie was steady but some loose finishing nearly let Darren in but Angie
finally picked of double 1 for a 2-1 win. Next into action was Richard Wakefield taking on Lee
Dickinson. This was a good close match, Lee took the opener with a 59 finish.
Richard levelled with a 50 finish as Lee had missed his shot on 40. That set
up a good decider, Richard was the steadier but a couple of misses on the
doubles let Lee in who made no mistake this time and took the win 2-1 with an
average of 17.04 the night’s highest. Bryan Robson then played Louise
Charalambou. A close first leg, Bryan just edging it. Louise fought back in
leg 2 and levelled the match on 20. The last leg was very good scoring from
Bryan who hit 3 tons on the trot that just edged Bryan in front and picked of
20, as Louise left 65, that just gave Bryan the 2-1 win. The last game of the night saw league leader George
Harness take on Richard Wakefield. Richard had the upper hand in leg 1 but
could not find the elusive double, and George took his chance to take the
opener. George got going in leg 2 this time it was George who could not find
the doubles and Richard held well to level. So to a decider Richard hit a 70
and 92, but George was in better form hitting 140 and 92 and left 14 and as
Richard left 90 George picked of 14 in 2 to take the match 2-1. So at the halfway stage it’s very close. George is top on 33 points with Lee in second also on 33 points, Daniel Flynn third on 31 points with a game in hand. Bryan Robson is now fourth on 28 points. The highest lady is Angie Upsall on 24 points in second Emma Grant on 23 pts, Alison Royal 3rd on 22 points , Di Jenkins also on 22 points and Suzy Watson on 19 points. Still along way to go for all the players. The going now gets tough, but who’s tough enough to keep going? We shall see. |

Round-up
for week ending December 14
Boston Standard Premier League
Tony Holland took on Graham Sharp in the first match of
the night. It was a cracking opener from both players. Tony was first to the
finish and found the wire. Graham, though hit the bull to finish on 82. A
17-darter from Tony then levelled the match. Leg three was a loose affair
from both, but Graham checked out to lead again. Both then upped their form
in the next leg. Graham finished well and led 3-1. Tony rallied back in the
fifth leg, picking off double 11 with his last dart for an 84 finish as
Graham sat on 60 waiting to pounce. So it was 3-2. A tense leg then followed,
Graham having the edge. But doubles went astray, which cost him as Tony
pulled back to level. The last leg was a cracker. Tony had the darts and threw
45, 180, 140 and Graham replied with a 121, 140, 100. Tony hit 60 to leave 76
and Graham hit 82 to leave 58. Tony missed and Graham found the wire, Tony
made no mistake and wrapped up a good win of 4-3, which moved him to second
place. The second match was between Jamie Robson and Dave Hasnip. Jamie threw
first and was edging things, but missed his doubles and Dave stepped in to
lead. Jamie responded well with a super 16-dart leg to level. Leg three saw
Jamie kick off with a 180 and left 50 after 12 darts. Dave was banging back
and left 86, Jamie missed his shot and an 86 followed from Dave to go 2-1 up.
Dave just had the edge in leg four and picked off 32 to lead 3-1. Both were
banging the 60 bed in the fifth lrg. This time Dave missed his shot at the
leg victory and Jamie held to pull one back in 17 darts. Another cracking leg
followed and 17 darts again from Jamie and it was all-square. Dave, against
the arrows, started the better but Jamie was hanging on in there. A slip-up
from Dave gave Jamie a shot at 103 but a poor score of 49 followed. However,
“Snip” missed again but Jamie missed his chance and this time Dave held on
and took the match 4-3, a win that moved him to the top of the league. To the
oche next were Tony Hillyard and Debra Royal. It was another seven-legger in
which both scored well. After several tight legs it was Deb who led 3-1. Tony
replied well in the fifth and checked out on 34 for a 16-darter. Tony hit
back with a leg of 81, 180, 140, 52 and 48 in three darts for a 15-darter. So
to a decider. Here Tony maintained his form with scores of 140, 121, 121, set
up a 17-darter for Tony and a 4-3 win with an average of 24.88. The final
game of the night saw two players back to the oche for a re-arranged match.
Jamie Robson took on Graham Sharp. Both were matching each other score for
score but it was Graham who was the sharper on the finishing and soon led
3-0. Graham left a ton in leg four as Jamie left 44. But Graham’s finishing
touch was amiss and he missed tops and 10 for the win. Jamie held on well to
pull one back. Jamie, in leg five, hit a 140 to leave tops as Graham left 80
after 15 darts. But Jamie’s finishing was not on song and a big miss cost him
as Graham picked off tops to take a good 4-1 win with an average of 24.60. Lincs Racing Championship
First into action this week was Redvers Dickinson and
Dick Taylor. A good close match but it was Dick who had the upper hand and
checked well to pick up a good 3-0 win. Second placed Mick Flynn then took on
Rob Scrupps. Rob had the arrows and took the opener. Mick responded well by
picking off scores of 80, 85, 100 and 100 to set up a levelling leg of 20
darts. Rob rallied in the next leg but missed his chance on tops to retake
the lead and Mick polished off double five to lead 2-1. Mick was well in
control in the next leg a few shaky darts at the end but just enough to lead
to finish of next throw to take the win 3-1. The third match saw Kev
Dickinson battle away with Jimmy Birtwhistle. A good tense battle all on the
doubles but it was Kev who held on the better to take a 3-0 win. Pedro Silva
then had a good tussle with Redvers Dickinson. Redvers took the opener with a
lovely 101 checkout. Pedro threw the more consistent n leg two and soon
levelled the match. But it was soon 2-1 to Redvers this time for consistency.
A tight fourth leg Redvers first to act at the doubles but missed and Pedro
could not find the 60 bed but Redvers did and eased to a 3-2 win finishing on
52 for victory with a top average for the night of 19.38. The last game of the
night’s action saw Dick Taylor back in action against Rick Woods. Rick was a
bit slow to get going and Dick being really steady was soon 1-0 up. Rick was
well warmed up in leg two and started with 125, 100, 81. But Rick was not so
hot on the doubles and really let Dick off. The latter, though, took his
chance to lead 2-0. That spurred Dick on and caught Rick cold again. A couple
of tons from Dick soon put him on a handy double to take the match 3-0. John Smiths Challenge League Getting the night’s action under way were Bryan Robson
and Daniel Flynn. A couple of tons at the start of leg one was just enough to
edge Daniel to the opening leg, picking of 58 in two darts. Daniel kicked off
with a 140 in the next followed by 95 and with a few steady scores Daniel
edged to 2-0 up as Bryan was just not firing. Leg three saw Bryan up his game
and he found some consistency and eased his way to pull back a valuable
point, but a good 2-1 win for Daniel who stays in second place level points
with league leader George Harness. Third placed Lee Dickinson faced a tough
match. Lee playing sixth place Richard Attwell. A good level opener Richard
having the edge but not on the doubles and Lee nipped in to take the lead.
Lee had the edge in leg two a 140, easing him to 51 and picking it off in two
to lead 2-0. Richard battled back but Lee was just the stronger and finished
well on 48 to take a big 3-0 win. Match three was an all-girl match. Suzy
Watson took on Emma Grant. Suzy dominated the opener and finished well to
lead. Leg two was even but there was double trouble for both. But Suzy held
on first on double one to lead 2-0. Again another close leg followed, Suzy
just the better and finished well on 52 to take the win 3-0. Next into action
was Richard Wakefield facing Chris Limb. Both struggled with their
consistency. Richard had the lead and first to the finish and in two darts on
36 took the lead. Leg two saw Chris find some form and was down to 111 after
21 darts with Richard well behind but the wheels fell off and Chris could not
finish, Richard caught up but also could not finish. After seven darts at
doubles Chris finally levelled. Leg three was a lot better Richard took it to
take the win but Chris had his chances though. After a respite, Richard was
back to the oche taking on Richard Attwell. Finishing on 70 in three darts,
Richard Attwell took on the opener and soon it was 2-0. Leg three was very
close Richard Wakefield missed his chance for a point and Richard Attwell
stepped in for a good 3-0 win. ***** There is a darts night open at the oche on Friday

Round-up
for week ending December 7
Boston Standard Premier League First to the oche for the night’s action were Harry Lee
and Kev Lenton. The latter took an early 2-1 lead with checkouts of 60 and
90. Both were not at their best on the doubles, but it was Harry who came
back to lead 3-2. Kev missed his shots to level and Harry sealed a 4-2 win.
Second took on third in a crucial match next. Tony Holland faced Martyn
Palmer and the match lived up to its expectations. Both players were on top
form. Tony was the more in-form and neat finishing put him 3-1 up. Tony
maintained the pressure but Martyn was up for a battle and levelled things at
3-3, which set up an exciting decider. Martyn threw nearest the bull to earn
first throw and left himself 123 after 12 darts with Tony on 171. Martyn hit
a good 91 to leave 32. Tony left 112 and Martyn held on in three darts to
pick up a big win 4-3. Tony got three vital points in defeat, though to keep
his challenge alive. Martyn also hit two scores of 180 with an average of
25.68 against Tony’s average of 25.26. The final game saw another
seven-legger unfold. Bob Mountain battled with Daley Richardson. A good tight
match saw both score well and hitting the doubles when needed. It all led to
a deciding leg that went Bob’s way for a 4-3 success. Daley also hit a 180. Lincs Racing Championship Dick Taylor and Dennis Turner got things under way. A
single one, a 25 and a bull for a 76 finish from Dick took the opener. Dennis
held on nicely with a 48 checkout to level. Dick was the steadier in the next
leg and went ahead again 2-1. A close fourth leg unfolded but a good pick off
from Dennis (treble 18 and tops for 94) levelled the match. Dennis had the
darts in the decider but it was Dick who was throwing the handy darts — ton,
83, 140, 83 and 20 in one dart gave Dick a 3-2 win. Another good five-legger
followed, involving Redvers Dickinson and Rick Woods. Redvers just edged it
with the stronger finishing for a 3-2 win. Pedro Silva was next up when he
faced Jimmy Birtwhistle. Both matched each other all the way to the doubles,
but both missed at times, too. This led to a decider, which went Pedro’s way
for a 3-2 win. Pete Johnson then faced a tough match against Mick Flynn. A
cracking start from Mick, but it was Pete who hit the double to lead 1-0.
Mick kept his form in leg two and didn’t mess up this time and levelled. Pete
upped his game and left a finish. But Mick didn’t give him a shot at a double
and led 2-1. Pete battle hard in the next leg but Mick was too consistent and
sealed the win, 3-1. League leader Bob Birtwhistle was next up. He took on
Rob Scrupps. Rob played steadily but the long-time leader checked out well
and ran out a 3-1 winner. The final game saw Mick Flynn back in action when
taking on Jimmy Birtwhistle. Jimmy started well, but Mick was on top form and
picked off a 20-darter to lead. The next leg saw neither player at their best
in a scrappy leg that went Mick’s way too. Jimmy was the better in leg three
and a 94 checkout in three darts saw him pull one back. The fourth leg was
close, but Mick held on well with double 19 to take the match 3-1. John Smiths Challenge League Setting things under way were Tina Willicombe and Richard Wakefield. In leg one Richard was far the more consistent and a 60 checkout in three darts saw him take the lead. Tina was a lot better in the next leg and missed her doubles. This allowed Richard to lead 2-0. The last leg was just as close and could have gone to either of them, but it was Richard who checked out first to pick up a 3-0 win. The next match was between Suzy Watson and Richard Attwell. Richard started well but soon found double trouble and that nearly let Suzy in. But she no-scored on 35 twice and Richard finally checked out on 20 to lead. Suzy picked off scores of 86, 100 and 108 but loose finishing let her down and let Richard in to lead 2-0. The third leg was close and this time Suzy found the double to pull a leg back as Richard won 2-1. An all-ladies took to the oche match next with Di Jenkins facing Louise Charalambou. A good even first leg from both. Di picked off 32 to take the lead. Leg two saw both in steady form but it was their finishing that let them down. Louise eventually hit eight to level. That set up a tight decider. Again, it was all down to who could hit the double first and it was Louise who hit double one to pick up a good 2-1 win. To the oche for the next fixture were Daniel Flynn and Adam Kemp. The first leg saw a good start from both, each picking off 140 at the start. It was even-stevens all the way to the finish. Daniel, with the darts, picked off 44 to lead. Adam was the more consistent in the next leg but a few shaky darts at the doubles nearly cost him. However, Dan missed his chance and Adam held on to level. So that set up a tense tight decider. Daniel was just the steadier and despite a few missed doubles, checked out on double one to pick up a good 2-1 win. The final game of the night saw Lee Dickinson take on Bryan Robson. Both were a little shaky at the start and it took a while to get going. Lee was first to the finish and missed. Bryan hit a ton to pressure Lee and it worked. Lee missed, but so did Bryan and Lee took his chance this time to take the leg. The second leg was more like the darts they usually play. And better, steady scoring followed. Lee was first to the double this time and didn’t miss 20 in two darts to lead 2-0. Inspired, Lee started well in the third leg and soon had a good lead and left 76 after 18 darts. But loose darts at the finish gave Bryan the chance to hit back, picking off 81 and 83 to leave 58. Lee missed his chance again, and Bryan finally hit double one to pick up a valuable point. But it was still a good win for Lee, 2-1. All players should note that Ben Porter has unfortunately had to pull out of the league. All points have been adjusted accordingly. |

Round-up
for week ending November 30
Boston Standard Premier League Bob Mountain took on Kev Lenton. Bob was the steadier and
checked out well to win 4-0 in the opening match. Next into action were Dave
Hasnip and Daley Richardson. Daley started better than Dave and by checking
out well, he soon led to 3-0. Dave then found his form at the doubles and was
quickly level. This set up a good deciding leg. Daley, with the arrows, was
very steady. Dave was picking off the tons. Daley left 131 after 15 darts but
Dave was right on form and picked off a brilliant 167 for a 15-darter to wrap
up a 4-3 win. Dave also registered a 180. The last game on the top division
schedule was between Martyn Palmer and Tony Hillyard. Both were banging the
60 bed and hitting their doubles which set up another deciding leg. Their
form was still consistent but Tony was first to the finish, as Martyn left 20.
Tony missed his chance and Martyn moved in for the kill and picked off 20 to
take the good 4-3 win. Martyn also registered tow maximum 180s during the
match and also picked up the night’s top average of 25.05. So after this
week’s games, Dave Hasnip moves to the top on 38 points. Martyn goes second
on 36 and Tony Holland is third with 34 points, but with a game in hand. Lincs Racing Championship Rick Woods and Pete Johnson opened the night’s
proceedings. The first two legs were very close and could have gone either
way. But it was Rick who hit the doubles and led 2-0. The third leg also went
Rick’s way as he picked off a 90 finish to take the win of 3-0. The second
match was between current and long-time leader Bob Birtwhistle and Dennis
Turner. The first two legs were evenly shared. Leg three saw Bob in control
and he checked out at the first attempt to lead 2-1. Leg four was close.
Dennis left 73 but Bob, in gear, finished on 32 to take a good win 3-1. Into
action next was Pedro Silva and Jimmy Birtwhistle. Both scored well in the
first two legs but both went a bit astray on the doubles. But Pedro came out
on top to lead 2-0. A good 71 checkout saw Jimmy pull one leg back in the
next game. And as Pedro missed his shot on double six, Jimmy picked off tops
to level. The good scoring continued, Jimmy busting on 96 which let Pedro in
who then missed himself. But Jimmy missed his second chance and Pedro was
back to winning ways as he took out tops to win 3-2. Match number four was
another close contest between Pete Johnson and Kev Dickinson. Kev just
finished the better and picked off a good 3-1 win. To the oche next were
Elaine Corke and Pedro Silva, the latter back for another match. Both matched
each other with consistently good scoring but Elaine was on form on the
doubles and soon led 2-0. Pedro upped a gear in leg three and soon pulled one
back. Both hit tons in the next leg. Elaine hit 87 to leave 70 and Pedro
messed up his 82 finish. This let Elaine in and a good 70 finish took the leg
and the match 3-1. The final game of the night in this section saw two
players back for another game apiece. Rick Woods faced Jimmy Birtwhistle. A
good game from both, but it was Rick who was on the ball at the business end.
Some good checking out from Rick gave him a 3-1 victory with highest average
of the night, 21.93. John Smiths Challenge League Alison Royal took on Darren Bierley in the opening
match. Ali was the steadier of the two and finished very well, not giving
Darren a shot at the doubles. As such, Ali took her first 3-0 win of the
season. A score of 160 and steady darts after saw Adam Kemp take the opening
leg in his match against Lee Dickinson. Lee replied well in the next leg and
checked out first attempt to level. Leg three was close but a 139 just at the
right time from Adam eased him to the double first and he finished first to
take the win of 2-1 and with the night’s highest average of 16.18 as an added
bonus. Match two was between Angie Upsall and Richard Wakefield. Everything
rested on the doubles, Angie checking out best, which gave her the 2-1
victory. Next up was Tom Nuttall. He faced the in-form Ali Royal. And it was
Ali’s form in consistent scoring and accurate finishing that enable her to
pick up another 3-0 win. This moved her up into fourth with an average of
14.73. Suzy Watson then played Bryan Robson. This could have gone either way,
but it went Bryan’s way in the decider to collect a solid 2-1 win. The leader
of the pack was next into action. George Harness battled it out with Richard
Attwell. A good battle, too, just the finishing separating them. George was
the one holding out best and took the match 2-1. Game seven was between Di
Jenkins and Chris Limb. The latter left 92, but a super 94 checkout from Di
put her one up. Chris had a chance to level but Di didn’t miss and it soon
became 2-0. Chris fought hard in leg three and pulled back a consolation
point in what was a good 2-1 win for Di. Up to the oche next were Daniel
Flynn and Louise Charalambou. Things were very close, the match going to a
decider. Louise was in command but the doubles let her down. Daniel caught up
and checked out well to take the match 2-1. Emma Grant then played Tina Willicombe, a fixture that
went all the way. Tina missed her shots on 36 but Emma held on well and checked
out on 24 to take the win 2-1. Chris Limb played Richard Attwell, both
returning to the oche. Richard picked off 32 to take the opener. Richard
could have gone two up but missed the doubles and Chris took his opportunity
to level. The decider was another close battle, both missing their chances
for victory. But honours eventually went to Chris, 2-1. The last game of the
night saw Emma Grant take on the leader George Harness. In an up-and-down
opening leg, George hading to call on his experience to take it. Emma called
on hers to level in leg two, thus setting up a decider. This was the best leg
of the match. Emma edged it to the doubles and checked out first time on 20
to pick up a big win over the leader by a 2-1 margin. |

Round-up
for week ending November 23
Boston Standard Premier League Battling out the first game of the night were Jamie Robson and Martyn Palmer. Jamie took the opener. Three tons then eased Martyn to level the match. Jamie missed double eight in the next and Martyn picked off double two to lead. Martyn just edged leg four, again Jamie battled back but failed to pick off 56 and Martyn nipped in to take the win 4-1. The win moved Martyn up to third. The second match was a seven-leg battle between Harry Lee and Derek Johnson. Both matching score for score and both hit and missed vital doubles which set up a decider which Harry just took to deny Derek’s first win that will not be long coming. Next into action were Debra Royal and Daley Richardson. This was a cracking match and a good one to watch. Both were scoring well and checking out well, which led also to a seventh leg decider. Again both matched each other score for score, Daley left 38 waiting to pounce, but Deb found the bull with her last dart for an 84 checkout to take the 4-3 win. The final game of the night saw Dave Hasnip take on Kev Lenton. Kev took the first leg in a tight opener. A 180 from set Kev on his way, but scores of 100, 92, 95, 140 followed by a 74 checkout from Dave and a 15-darter levelled the match. Dave was in control in leg three, some slack finishing nearly let Kev in but Dave held on to lead. Dave was in great form again in leg four, three tons and a 101 eased Dave to a 3-1 lead. Kev responded in leg five but Dave was just too good and tops in one dart secured the leg and a 4-1 win. Dave stays second but only on leg difference from Tony Holland. Lincs Racing Championship Second placed Mick Flynn took on seventh placed Rick
Woods in the opening match. Mick started well, picking off a couple of tons but
“steady Eddy” was Rick who was plugging away. And as Mick faltered at the
finish, Rick stepped in to take the lead. That inspired Rick and he was
always in control in the next leg and picked off 60 in three darts to lead
2-0. Mick got back to his form but Rick was fresh as a new forest and scores
of 121 and a couple of tons eased Rick to a great 3-0 win and moved up to
sixth. Redvers Dickinson then played Dennis Turner. Dennis took the opener as
Redvers could not find the double. Redvers made no mistake in leg two and was
level. A good third leg from both, but Dennis was just the better and
regained the lead. Undeterred, Redvers bounced back to level again. The best
leg of the match followed both banging the scores in. Redvers hit a ton to
leave 89 and Dennis left 92, but a great 89 finish in two darts gave Redvers
the win of 3-2. That match was followed by the long-awaited clash of the top
two. Mick Flynn was back to take on league leader Bob Birtwhistle. And as
expected, it was tight and tense which inevitably set up a fifth deciding
leg. Mick started the stronger and picked off 36 in two darts to pick up a
big win to gain on the leader but Bob still has a four-point lead. Fourth
game of the night saw Rick Woods back to the oche facing the hard task of Elaine
Corke who is on good form. And it was tough for Rick. He played steadily but
Elaine was in great form, starting well with scores of 75, 100, 100, 60 and
81 and duly eased to a 1-0 lead. Elaine kept the pressure on Rick with more
tons and Rick was replying with his own. Rick was first to the finish but
missed under pressure as they say and Elaine picked off 20 in three darts to
lead 2-0. The last leg was the best of all, Rick hit of with scores of 85,
55, 100, 55, 140 to leave 66. Elaine scored 72 to leave 50 but Rick missed
his chance and coolly Elaine took out 50 in two darts to take a great win 3-0
with the night’s top average of 20.58. To the oche for the next match were
Pedro Silva and Pete Johnson. Pete started steadily but Pedro was more gold then
Silva. A 140 and a ton set up a 96 finish, which Pedro picked off in style in
two darts to lead. Pete was trying to hard in leg two and Pedro was still on
song and eased to a 2-0 lead. A scrappy third leg saw Pete miss his chance to
extend the match, missing doubles. Double one came to Pedro’s rescue to earn
him a good 3-0 win. The final game saw Rob Scrupps and Kev Dickinson battle.
A good close match saw both picking off good steady scores and both checked
out well when needed. This set up a decider. Close all the way and it was
Rob’s night as one dart found double nine for a good win over Kev. But Kev’s
two points keeps him fourth and Rob moves up to eighth. John Smiths Challenge League Kicking of the night’s action were Angie Upsall and Emma Grant. An untidy end of the leg after a good start from both as neither could not kill off the leg. Eventually it went to Angie. The second leg was more like the form they both play. Angie just got the better of things and no trouble at the double this time and Angie led 2-0. The third leg saw Angie pick off a 100 to start, later followed by a 140. Emma responded with an 85, 100 and closed in on Angie. And as Angie missed double 10, Emma held on well on double eight in one to pull a leg back but overall it was a good 2-1 win for Angie. Game two saw Chris Limb take on Tom Nuttall. Tom took the nervy first leg and Chris levelled in another edgy leg. The decider was a much better game. but Tom was the more consistent and eased to a 2-1 win. Alison Royal then faced Ben Porter. Ali started the better but it was Ben who finished the stronger as Ali failed a few times at 14 and Ben finished on 40 at the first attempt to lead. Ali kept going, though, and was more consistent. And a good 140 just at the end of the leg eased Ali to level. That set up a good up-and-down decider. Ali was just the stronger at the end of the leg and checked out well to pick up her ninth win on the trot. Match four was between Darren Bierley and Richard Wakefield. Leg one could have gone either way as double trouble affected both. But Richard finally held out to lead. Leg two was a repeat of leg one, this time not so many arrows for both at the doubles. But again Richard held to lead 2-0. The final leg was the best from both. Good steady scoring, Darren left 12 but 40 in two darts from Richard secured the 3-0 win. Into action next were Tina Willicombe and Richard Attwell. A close first leg ensued. Tina left 76 but Richard had 32 left and one dart set him on his way. Scrappy play from both in leg two and Tina missed her chance to level and Richard again one dart at a double for finally gave him a 2-0 lead. Tina still battled on in leg three and had one pop to pull one back as Richard missed. But a miss from Tina let Richard back to seal a 3-0 win. Onto match six between Lee Dickinson and Louise Charalambou. Louise started the stronger and it was she who reached a finish first with Lee just behind. Louise missed her 67 finish and Lee stepped in to the leg on 26. Another close leg followed. Lee missed 40 and Louise just missed 38 but no mistake from Lee next chuck of tops in one to lead 2-0. Louise was steady in leg three but Lee was too strong this time and eased to a 3-0 win to keep him in third position. Long- time leader George Harness then faced fourth placed Bryan Robson. Both looked steady, but a good 60 checkout from George separated them and George led 1-0. Bryan replied in cracking style in leg two with a ton and 140, which soon left 57 with George back on 197. And 57 in three darts from Bryan levelled the match. So that set up an exciting finale. Both scored well, matching each other all the way down. Bryan left 95 as George left 112. Bryan then left 40 as George left 52. Bryan missed and George nipped in to take a big win 2-1. Tom Nuttall was back to the oche in match eight facing Daniel Flynn. Daniel was of to a flyer and left 100 after 18 darts with Tom behind, but Dan then bust on 100 that gave Tom the chance to close in and picked of 41 to lead. Daniel was soon picking off the scores again 85, 100, 120 and again soon eased him to the double and first time checked out to level. Leg three was very good from both. Tom left 90 and Dan hit 125 to leave 24 and picked off double one to take the win 2-1 with an average of 19.45, top average of the night so far. Game nine was between Suzy Watson and Adam Kemp. Suzy just couldn’t get going as Adam was in 60 mode. Adam hit 80 to leave 4 with Suzy way back, but as Adam was in double trouble mode Suzy battled on and caught Adam to sneak the leg with 32 in two darts at the first attempt. Suzy started a lot better in leg two but Adam was in good form and soon left 32 and no mistake this time first dart to level. Both were playing well in leg three, Suzy was edging it though. This time it was Suzy who couldn’t find the elusive double but neither could Adam when he caught up. Tense at the end but Suzy was the cooler under the pressure and took the match 2-1. Two players were back into action next, Richard Attwell and Emma Grant. Emma started the better and maintained her steady scoring as Richard was struggling and Emma checked out well to lead. Both seemed to be trying too hard in leg two and both struggled to finish but Richard held on and levelled. Both were better in the decider but both struggled to kill of the match. But Richard dug deep and found the double for the 2-1 win. So it was the last game of the night. Di Jenkins faced Daniel Flynn. A good opener, but it was Di who checked to take the lead. That kicked Daniel into gear and started leg two with a 100, 140 and a 85 soon followed. Di battled hard but Daniel, well in front, picked off 8 to level. Di started well and soon led but a good reply of 98, 100, 108 set up 30 with Di a hundred and odd behind. Here Dan made no mistake, 30 in two darts for a 23-darter, setting up the night’s top average of 19.75 and a 2-1 win that moved Daniel to one point behind the leader on level games. |

Round-up
for week ending November 16
Boston Standard Premier League Kev Lenton took an easy opening first leg in the first match
against Graham Sharp. A 180 from Graham in leg two just edged him to level.
Kev was more the consistent in legs three and four and soon led 3-1. Fergal
upped his game in leg five and pulled it back to 3-2. Both players matched
each other in the next, Graham missing bull for a 118 checkout to level, then
Kev sealed the win 4-2 to pick up his first victory of the season. Second
match of the night saw Bob Mountain battle with Derek Johnson. Bob picked off
a brilliant 177 to leave 16, Derek missed his chance at 71 and Bob sealed it
in one dart. Bob was in good form while Derek just wasn’t clicking and Bob
eased two up. Derek did click in leg three but missed his doubles and Bob
stepped in to lead 3-0. Steady arrows from Bob followed and was it was just the
edge he needed to wrap up a 4-0 win. Second placed Tony Holland then took on
Kev Lenton back for his second match. And Kev was in great form, taking the
opener in 17 darts. Tony responded in cracking style with a 15-darter. Tony
continued the high quality of darts with Kev only a few behind. Tony left 25
after 12 darts. Some slack finishing nearly let Kev back in, but Tony picked
off the double to lead 2-1. Kev hit back with a couple of tons in the
following leg but some loose darts soon gave Tony the edge and solid scoring
and finishing produced a 16 darter to lead 3-1. Kev battled in leg 5 and
matched Tony throw for throw but Tony just edged it to seal a good 4-1 win
with an average of 27.22, the top average for the season so far. Graham Sharp
was back to the oche to face Daley Richardson. A 180 from Daley put him in a
good lead but a few loose chucks at the double nearly let Graham in but a
costly miss for Graham on tops gave Daley the chance to take the opener. The
match was close and all on the doubles, Daley taking his chances and led
3-2,Graham hit back with a 16 darter to set up a decider, very tight Graham
missed tops for a 100 checkout and Daley stepped in to take a good 4-3 win.
Tony Holland was back for action facing a tough opponent Tony Hillyard. A
cracking opening leg saw Tony Hillyard miss 32 for a 108 finish and Tony
Holland stepped in for a 70 finish to lead 1-0. That lifted Mr Holland and he
raced into a 2-0 lead with a 17 darter. Mr Hillyard just could not find the
60 bed like Tony four tons followed from Tony and that set up a 3-0 lead.
Tony responded in great style and left 50 after 15 darts but missed his
chance and Tony Holland picked off a great 76 finish to take a big win of 4-0
to lift him to top of the league with an average of 26.37, the man on form at
the moment. The final game of the night saw Daley Richardson and Martyn
Palmer play an outstanding fixture. A close first leg but Daley checked first
to take the lead. Martyn checked well in the next finishing on 92 to level it
up. A couple of 140s and a ton eased Martyn to tops and one dart was back to
2-2 as the previous leg was a good leg for Daley as followed by 3 tons.
Martyn missed 96 and Daley held to lead again. Martyn was just the more
consistent and went 3-2 up. Daley hit back but Martyn held to take the win
4-2. Lincs Racing Championship Second took on sixth in the opener when Dennis Turner
faced Mick Flynn. Mick started the stronger and took the first leg. Dennis
was the more consistent in leg two but missed doubles cost Dennis the leg and
Mick lead 2-0. Dennis found the double in leg 3 and pulled one back. Another
close leg followed both missing the doubles this time, but it was Mick’s
night and took the win 3-1. The league leader Bob Birtwhistle was next into
action, facing third place Kev Dickinson. As expected it was a good, tight,
tense battle. It was even in the first two legs. Leg three showed why Bob’s
the leader, solid scoring and 40 in one put him ahead. Kev upped his game and
picked of a 180 to set up a good lead. Bob was picking off scores of 80 plus
regularly, which caught Kev up as the pressure built up. Kev missed his
doubles and that let the leader in to wrap up a 3-1 win. Match three was
between Pedro Silva and Rob Scrupps. Rob was at turbo speed and fast scoring
and quick finishing which included an 87 in leg 1, and a 84 in leg 2 surged
Rob into a 2-0 lead. Pedro fought back hard but failed to pick of the double
which let Rob in for a good 3-0 win. A catch up game followed between Redvers
Dickinson and Bob Birtwhistle. A good battle , the match toing and froing
both having chances, but it was 2-2. The decider being the best leg both
scoring well, but Bob was first to the double and first attempt picked up the
win 3-2 to remain 5 points clear at the top. Into action next were Elaine
Cork and Dick Taylor. Elaine maintained the high scores 89, 100, 80 and 80
and checked out on 31 to take the opener. Elaine kept her form going, Dick
battling hard to keep in touch. A couple of misses at the end nearly cost
Elaine as Dick missed a 98 finish, but Elaine picked of the finish to lead
2-0. A tight last leg Dick edging ahead but Dick could not find the double 13
and Elaine nipped in to finish on 40 to take a good win 3-0. The sixth game
saw Jimmy Birtwhistle take on Redvers Dickinson. Jimmy had the arrows and was
first to the finish but just missed and Redvers took out 36 to take the lead.
Another good leg followed this time Jimmy held with a 59 checkout to make it
all square. Some steady scoring from Redvers and it was needed as Jimmy was
steady too but Redvers was the stronger and coolly finished to lead 2-1.
Redvers strong form continued and soon eased to a 3-1 win and up to third
place, with an average of 19.84 highest for the night. The last game of the
night was a really good battle between Mick Flynn and Kev Dickinson. Mick
started the better and eased to a 1-0 lead. The next two legs were really
close both missing at the doubles, but Kev come out the better and led 2-1.
Mick upped his game and it was soon 2-2. Momentum was with Mick now and put
in a strong leg to steal the match 3-2, a win that lifted Mick up to second
place. John Smiths Challenge League The opening match was between Alison Royal and Richard Wakefield. A couple of tons and an 85 eased Ali into a 1-0 lead. Richard improved his game in the next and did enough to level the game. Richard kept his form going in the third leg, Ali battled back to catch him up. And after he missed, Ali nipped in to take a good 2-1 win to stay eighth and also hit the night’s highest average of 15.18. Di Jenkins then played Tom Nuttall. Di playing the more consistent and checked better to wrap up a 3-0 win. Bryan Robson then stepped up to play Tina Willicombe, Bryan was playing the better but the finishing was not quite there and almost let Tina in but Bryan eventually picked of double five. Leg two was a much better game both scoring a lot better this time Bryan was right on the double and picked of 40 to lead 2-0. The last leg was another good leg but the finishing let them both down and Bryan just scrapped home the winner 2-1. .The fifth match saw Richard Attwell face Angie Upsall. A fair scoring game that went Richard’s way but could have easily gone Angie’s way, Richard took the win 2-1. Louise Charalambou was up against Suzy Watson. Suzy took the opening scrappy leg. A no score on 60 for Louise cost her the second as Suzy picked off 40. Both players played much better in leg three but their finishing let the game down and after several goes at double it was Louise who come out on top to pull one back still a good 2-1 win for Suzy. Long time leader George Harness into action he faced the improving Adam Kemp, and it was Adam who was in the groove first and held well at the double and to lead. The leader responded in leading style and cruised to level the match. The decider was quite close but Adam seemed to have the edge and checked first time to pick up a big win of 2-1 and moved up to fifth. A couple of tons in the opening leg for Lee Dickinson was enough to set up the first leg against Di Jenkins. Lee picked of a 140 in leg 2 but Di responded with scores of 85, 65, 83, 81 and that set up a 92 finish which Di picked off brilliantly in three darts. Both were scoring well in leg three but Di could not pick of the finish after Lee let her off a few times but Lee finally nailed the double to take the 2-1 win. Both Emma Grant and Darren Bierley were not at their best in the opener but Emma was the one who hit the double 14 in one to lead. Emma was in better form in leg 2 and eased to a 2-0 lead. Leg 3 was just like the first neither could find the winning double but after a few more attempts Emma found the “mad house” to pick up a 3-0 win to go seventh. Daniel Flynn faced Chris Limb. third against last and it was only the finishing that separated them. Chris had his chances but could not pick off 28 and Daniel stepped in to lead. A 125 from Daniel just gave him the edge in leg two and a good quick finish saw Daniel lead 2-0. Chris battled hard in the third leg and as Daniel was missing his doubles, Chris again had a pop at pulling one back but like Daniel Chris couldn’t kill it off and Daniel held to take a 3-0 win a win that allowed him to move to second position. The last game was between Louise Charalambou and Darren Bierley. Louise had the better start and took the opening leg. Leg two was close and both struggled to finish, Darren took it though to level. The decider was just as the previous one and it was Darren’s night and he took out double 10 to take victory 2-1. |

Round-up
for week ending November 9
Boston Standard Premier League First game of the night’s action saw Bob Mountain take on Harry Lee. Bob, against the arrows in the opening leg, was far the steadier and one dart at 32 saw him lead. Bob kept his rock steady form going in leg two and one dart at double six saw him go 2-0 up. Harry upped his form and matched Bob and just that little pressure made Bob miss the double and Harry cleaned up 54 to pull one back. Harry missed his chances to level and Bob went 3-1 up. Harry then battled back and checked out well in the next two legs to level the match. The deciding leg was the best both banging in the scores and Harry was first to the finish and hit it first time to pick up his first win of the season 4-3. Dave Hasnip then faced Derek Johnson both matching each other but it was Dave who was hitting the doubles as Derek missed his shots, which gave Dave a 4-1 win and at the top of the table. The final game of a quiet night’s action this week was between Debra Royal and Kev Lenton. A tight match which just went Debs way 4-2 which moves her up to third position Lincs Racing Championship Rob Scrupps eased a 1-0 lead in the opening leg against
Pete Johnson in the first match of the night. Pete battled back hard but
could not find the doubles and Rob eased to take the match 3-1. Dennis Turner
and Jimmy Birtwhistle had a good close contest all going to the fifth leg
decider which saw Jimmy the more consistent and checked well to pick up
another good 3-2 win. Match threesaw Redvers Dickinson face a tough match
against Elaine Corke, and hard it was as Elaine was matching Redvers score
for score. But it was Redvers who was checking out well and wrapped up a good
3-0 win. Pete Johnson was back into the action this time facing Dick Taylor ,
the match was very close and after 4 legs it was all square, Dick picking of
a great 17 darter on the way, and the last leg went Dicks way, Pete had his
chances though so a 3-2 win for Dick. Also back to the oche for a second game
was Rob Scrupps. Rob took on Rick Woods. Rick was just the more steadier in
leg one and picked off 55 to seal the leg. Rob missed his shot on 85 in leg
two darts and Rick sorted out his 32 finish. Leg three was the better leg and
could have gone either way both missing the doubles but Rick rounded off
double two to take a good 3-0 win. Sixth match of the night involved a duo
from the top end off the table. Pedro Silva and Bob Birtwhistle. Pedro
started the leg with some heavy scoring but light finishing let him down and
Bob coolly picked of double one to lead. Pedro again edged the second leg but
good pressure darts from Bob seem to do the trick and Pete missed again and
Bob made it 2-0. No giving up from Pedro and outscored Bob again but Bob
picked of a good score at the right time again causing Pedro to miss and in
stepped Bob to finish the match 3-0. The final game of the night saw Rick
Woods play Dennis Turner. Dennis was in good steady form just the stronger of
the two and Dennis finishing was in good shape and wrapped up a good 3-0
victory with the help of an 80 checkout that moves him up to second position. John Smiths Challenge League In a lack-lustre night of darts the opening game saw unbeaten league leader
George Harness face Louise Charalambou. Despite a strong finish from Louise
at the end of leg one, picking off 60 and 83 to leave double 8, the pressure
didn’t bother George and coolly picked off double 10 in one dart to lead.
Louise battled gamely on in leg two and matched George all the way. This time
George could not find double 10 and spit it down to double two and Louise
finally got the double to level the match. George was back to good form in
leg three with scores of 83 and 134 but some steady scoring from Louise kept
Louise well in touch. George missed his shot of 76 and missed double five
with the next throw as Louise picked of 76 and 52 and with Louises next throw
picked of a great 50 finish to end Georges fantastic run iof wins and take a
great 2-1 victory. The second game saw Adam Kemp play Tina Willicombe with
Adam taking the only 3-0 win in the division although both had low averages.
Adams 2nd leg being the best with his first four throws being 60 pluses
although both had chances to claim legs one and three which Adam finally
claiming these also. Third game of the night saw Tom Nuttall take on Richard
Wakefield, the game could have gone either way as all legs went to the wire.
Tom went into a 2-0 lead and could have made it 3 but with a long third leg
which no one seemed to want to win, Richard popped in a double one to take a
consolation point, and Tom walking away with a 2-1 win. Next up were Angie
Upsall and Bryan Robson. Form would dictate that Bryan would have the upper
hand due to previous matches this was not the case with Angie taking a 2-1
win and Bryan slipping form third to fourth place in the league standings and
Angie now tying with three other ladies for top lady. Fifth game of the night
saw Richard Attwell take on Darren Bierley with Richard taking the upper hand
and moving into a 2-0 lead. It seemed
finishing was no problem but getting there proved a bit of a struggle. Leg 3
both had lose darts and Richard reached the double first but stray darts
meant Darren crept back into to take the leg for a consolidation point. A mid
evening clash of sisters Alison Royal and Emma Grant produced the longest
game of the night. In legs one and two it seemed that neither wanted to
finish and a leg went each way. Leg three was much shorter and a finish of 60
from Ali let her walk away with a 2-1 win which left them on equal points in
the league tying in top ladies spot with 2 other ladies. Next up was another
all-ladies clash with Di Jenkins taking Suzy Watsoon. Again it could have
gone either way as both struggled to finish, although as both took one leg each
both still struggling to finish in leg three it was Di who finlly finished to
take the win 2-1 and the points she claimed now ties her in top ladies spot
with Emma, Angie and Alison although Emma does have games in hand.
Penultimate game was a clash of the lads as Daniel Flynn take on Lee
Dickinson. The game proved to be the best of the night in this league and
although Lee’s average was higher, it was Daniel who took the win 2-1 and now
leaves only one point between them in the league. Lee lies in second and
Daniel in third. Both scored well in all legs and it was only final darts in
all legs that separated them. The final game of the night was a lower league
clash between Chris Limb and Ben Porter with Ben taking 2-1, which could have
been 3-0 but for some off target finishing in the third leg of the game. The
best leg of the game was the second with Ben hitting 100 plus scores and a
double 10 checkout. |

Round-up
for week ending November 2
Boston Standard Premier League Week nine got under way with Tony Holland taking on
Jamie Robson. Both players were on good form going into this match. Tony had
the edge in the first leg and a superb 101 finish stamped his authority on
the match. With Jamie a little nervous, Tony eased to a 2-0 lead. In the
third leg, Jamie settled and produced some good darts but Tony out-scored
him, taking the leg in 16 darts. And it was just the same in leg four as Tony
eased to a very good 4-0 win and an average of 24.74. To the oche next was
Dave Hasnip (league leader) who faced the unpredictable Harry Lee. In a
fairly even opening leg, Dave was first to the finish and checked out to
lead. Dave upped his game, taking a 2-0 lead with an 18-darter. Dave’s
consistent form in leg three saw him ease to a 3-0 lead. It was then that
Harry started to play, and soon pulled one back. But the form dropped in the
fifth leg and Dave eased to a 4-1 victory. Tony Holland was then back in
action, this time against Daley Richardson. Daley took the arrows off Tony
with his opening 140 and held on well to take the lead. A cracking leg
followed from both, Daley being first to the finish. But slack finishing let
Tony back in and it was all-square. Tony upped his form in leg three as Daley
could not find the “lipstick” (as they say) and an 86 finish saw Tony lead
2-1. Daley battled back in the fourth leg and pressured Tony in to a miss on
60 and Daley stepped in to level again. The fifth leg saw some cracking
scoring from both, battering the 60 bed with ease. Tony hit 140 to leave 80
and Daley responded with a 180 to leave 10. Tony missed tops but Daley failed
to pick off double five and Tony held on well to lead 3-2. It was Tony’s turn
to pick up a maximum score and with solid follow-up darts Tony eased to
secure a good 4-2 win with an average of 25.03, that win has also lifted him
to top slot on leg difference from Dave Hasnip. The next match was between
Graham Sharp and Derek Johnson. Derek was in the better form at the start and
a brilliant 122 finish secured the opening leg for Derek. That finish did
something to Derek as he could not get going after that and could not find
the red bit, not like Graham who found it consistently and finished well in
the next three legs to lead 3-1. The fifth leg was close and Derek missed his
chance on 57 twice to pull one back, that let Graham nip in to seal a 4-1
victory and move up on the leading pack. Martyn Palmer and Kev Lenton had an
up-and-down match, Martyn however had the more us and was checking out the
better and ran out a 4-1 winner moving to third spot. The final game of the
night saw Tony Hillyard take on Jamie Robson. A good steady leg from both in
the opener but it was Tony who held on first to lead. Both players continued
the good steady form nothing really separating them just the odd double but a
cracking 14-darter from Jamie eased Jamie to a good 4-3 victory and up to
fourth slot. Lincs Racing Championship Kicking off proceedings were Redvers Dickinson and Pedro
Silva. A good balanced match was all down to the finishing and in top form
here was Redvers who picked up a good 3-0 victory. League leader Kev
Dickinson was up next. Kev faced third placed Dennis Turner in a crunch game
for both, and it looks like the nerves kicked into both in the opener. But it
eventually went to Kev who settled the better in leg two and eased to a 2-0
lead. Dennis eventually got things going in leg three and a 121 followed by
132 saw Dennis to the doubles first. But he struggled to kill off the leg and
Kev battled back. But Dennis finally picked off double one to pull one back,
relief at last! Kev raised his game in leg four and Dennis pushed all the
way. But Kev checked out first time to pick up a fine 3-1 win. Pete Silva was
then back in to action. Pete’s opponent was second placed Mick Flynn. The
first leg both scoring steadily but nerves seemed to kick in at the finish.
But it was Mick who held on first to lead. Another close contest in leg two,
this time it was Pedro who checked and levelled. Mick upped his form in leg
three and eased to a 2-1 lead. The best leg from both followed both picking
of the red bit, Pete had the first chance to seal the leg but a costly miss
followed ad Mick stepped in to steal a good 3-1 victory. Sixth placed Bob
Birtwhistle was back into action this week. Bob took on Rick Woods. A 140
from Bob at the off in the opening leg made the difference in the outcome and
26 in two darts from Bob saw him just ease to the lead. A steadier leg
followed. Rick had his chance to take it but a miss let Bob take the leg for
a 2-0 lead. Rick upped his game and raced down to the double after 18 darts,
maybe too quick, as he failed to kill it off and that let Bob into seal a 3-0
win. Game five saw Dick Taylor take on Rob Scrupps. A good scoring game from
both in the opener saw Dick with the arrows having the first go taking the
leg. But he just missed. Rob, though, made no mistake and took the leg to
lead 1-0. Leg two was very close. This time Rob missed 76 and Dick stepped in
for a 54 finish. Both matched each other in leg three. This time it was Rob
who missed the first chance, and Dick didn’t and led 2-1. Dick started in
great form in the next picking off 140, 100. Rob battled on and as Dick
started to flail Rob caught up but a costly miss for Rob let Dick seal
victory 3-1. Redvers Dickinson was then back to the oche, taking on Pete
Johnson. A tight match especially the first two legs saw both sharing the
spoils. In leg three, Redvers sat on 209, Pete hit a great 140 to leave 94.
Redvers responded with a lovely 133 to leave 76. Somehow Pete no scored on 94
and Dick took his opportunity and checked out on 76 in two darts to lead 2-1.
Leg four was another good tight contest but it was Redverss who just had the
edge and took it for a 3-1 win and an average of 19.44. Rick Woods and Dick
Taylor returned to the oche for their seconds games of the night. Both hit
and missed at times but it was Rick who finished the stronger and picked up a
good 3-0 win. The final game of the night saw Bob Birtwhistle play Rob
Scrupps, the first four legs were fairly shared which set up a good tense
decider, and it was Bob who was the steadier and edged the victory 3-2 and
move to the top of the league. John Smiths Challenge League Getting things under way here were Richard Wakefield and Ben Porter. Richard took the opening leg as both struggled to finish. A far more consistent leg followed which Ben took finishing on 40, and it looked like Ben was on his way to victory as he missed 89 but left double 19, but Richard found his form at the right time and picked of a great 101 for victory 2-1. The next match was between bottom place Darren Bierley and second placed Bryan Robson. It was plain to see why Bryan is up at the top. Good and consistent scoring eased him away from Darren, but Bryan failed to pick off his first attempt to clinch the leg and ended up on a mad house double one before Darren found his double to lead. Bryan let that affect him and he had another miss at the double as Darren checked to seal his first win of the season, Bryan avoided the white wash though as Darren missed his chance so 2-1 win to Darren a big win and maybe a vital point for Bryan. The third game saw Adam Kemp face his mother Angie Upsall. Adam was in great form and rattled off an 80 finish for a 18 darter. Angie was battling but could not find the 20 bed as regularly as she normally does. But Adam did and 24 darts later he was 2-0 up. The third leg saw Angie back to her better form and she kept up the pressure on Adam, which seemed to tell as Adam missed tops. But Angie also failed to pick off double seven and this time Adam held on to take a good 3-0 win with an average of 17.89. So it was time for the league leader to step up to the oche. George Harness facing a tough test against Di Jenkins, and tough it was a Di battled George all they way and if Di could have hit the doubles first as she had her chance, Di could have been 2-up but the young old boy rode his luck and was 2-up. The third leg saw George back to his steady best and eased to take the leg and pick up his ninth straight win — but only just, as he said. Next on was Louise Chralambou who took on her mum Tina Willicombe. A good old battle in leg one. Tina was first to the finish but missed and Louise was up for it and checked out in one dart on double four. Better scoring from both came in leg two. This time Tina finished to level. Louise started the better in the decider and soon had a good lead, but let it slip and Tina fought back as Louise missed again, Tina had a shot for victory but just missed the double, but Louise didn’t miss the next time and sealed the match to win 2-1. Into battle next were Daniel Flynn and Suzy Watson. Suzy was the stronger in the first leg but she could not pick off the elusive double and Daniel was the more consistent and a 140 eased him to the double and checked out first time to lead 2-0. Suzy fought back in leg three but just couldn’t find the trebles to match Dan’s steady scoring and Daniel picked off eight to take the win 3-0. Match seven was a good encounter with Alison Royal taking on Richard Attwell. Ali was steady but a maximum from Richard and a 46 finish eased him to a 1-0 lead. Ali responded well and was picking off the 20s consistently and a ton followed by 73 set up a 32 finish that Ali hit in two darts to level. That set up for a tense decider and it was, but Ali settled quicker and eased down so with Richard back on 144, Ali was a little amiss and missed a couple of chances to wrap up a good win, but Richard missed as well and Ali made no mistake next time and picked up a good 2-1 win. The final game of the night’s play was between Lee Dickinson and Chris Limb. Third placed Lee was in good steady form and was just too good in the opener and eased to a 1-0 lead. Chris battled back hard in leg two but a costly miss on 70 saw Lee extend his lead when he picked of 16 in three darts. The third leg was the best battle. Chris was first down to the finish and a couple of narrow misses let Lee step into take a 3-0 win that keeps him in second place. |

Round-up
for week ending October 26
Boston Standard Premier League Two players from the top of the table battled out the
opening game of the night> They were Bob Mountain and Dave Hasnip. The
opening leg saw Bob just the stronger and checked in one to take the lead.
Bob stormed out of the blocks in leg two but soon slowed to a halt with a
poor finishing and snip stepped in to level. Leg three saw Dave miss several
shots at the doubles and that let Bob back in to retake the lead 2-1. The
fourth leg was well contested with some good darts, Dave edging it to pull it
back to 2-2. Another tight leg followed both having chances but it was Dave
who held to lead for the first time 3-2. Bob responded very well and quick
finishing saw Bob level it. So a decider, very tight and tense which Dave
took for a 4-3 win and move to the top of the league. Up for action at the
oche next were Debra Royal and Harry Lee. Deb was the far more consistent and
was checking well and eased to a good 4-1 victory. Deb was back in action
later on in the night, this time up against Derek Johnson. Derek pushing Deb
a lot harder than Harry earlier but it was Deb who was picking off the
doubles and in the fifth leg Deb picked of a 180 and followed up with a 66
checkout to help wrap up a good 4-2 win. Two good wins pushed Deb up to third
spot. Lincs Racing Championship First into action were Dick Taylor and young Jimmy
Birtwhistle. Both players matched each other until doubles but Jimmy was the
sharper that helped him to a 3-2 win. Next into battle was Dennis Turner and
Elaine Corke. The opening leg was close, and both had shots to lead but it
was Elaine who held first to take the lead. Elaine was just the stronger in
leg 2 and a great 91 checkout from Elaine put Elaine 2-0 up. Both players
played very well in leg three but a strong finish from Dennis was enough to
pull one back. Another good leg followed but sloppy finishing from both set
up a nervy finish that Dennis took to level the match. So to a decider and it
was Elaine who was the calmer and eased to victory 3-2 leaving Dennis
frustrated again. Jimmy Birtwhistle was back to the oche for match three.
Jimmy taking on Pete Johnson. A tight fought match switching to and fro set
up a fifth leg decider. Both scoring well but Jimmy’s form was the better and
one dart at double 16 scored a 3-2 victory and moved Jimmy out of the bottom
three. A re-arranged game followed between Rob Scrupps and Elaine Corke. Rob
raced into the lead with a good steady opening leg. Rob continued his good
form in leg 2 and was soon at the doubles, but Rob could not kill of the leg
and Elaine battled down to sneak the leg to tie things up. That spurred
Elaine in to action, with some good solid scoring, eased into a commanding
position only to let it slip as after a few misses Rob missed his chance. But
Elaine held next throw to lead 2-1. Elaine was again the more consistent in
leg four but Rob battled back but Elaine picked off double two for a good 3-1
win. With those two wins Elaine moves up to second. So on to the fifth game,
Dick Taylor back to face Bob Birtwhistle. A 95 finish top checkout of the
night in two darts saw Bob get of to a flying start and a 17-darter to lead.
But Dick picked of 40 to level the match in leg two. Both played very well in
leg three, Dick first to the finish but failed and Bob stepped into lead 2-1.
That set Bob up to keep the pressure on Dick and quick finishing this time
eased Bob to a 3-1 win. Bob got highest average of the night with an 18.40.
Into action next were Dennis Turner and Rob Scrupps. Rob was in top form in
the opener picking of treble 20, treble 19 and treble 18 to score 171
followed by 81 and 86. Rob had left 67 after 12 darts, Dennis in hot pursuit
and passed Rob as Rob couldn’t find a double and first attempt Dennis picked
his off to lead. Dennis was well turned on after that and soon raced to a 2-0
lead. Leg three saw Dennis keep his rhythm going and his form and checked
well to pick up a 3-0 win. The last game of the night saw second place Kev
Dickinson take on third placed Pete Silva, and it was a good battle from top
end of the table. Very close and some good form from both, just the odd
double missed from both which eventually set up yet another fifth leg
decider. Pete was steady but Kev just in the groove and set up the victory
with his best leg of 20 darts and a 3-2 win, that put Kev top of the league. John Smiths Challenge League League leader got the night’s action under way. George Harness took on another unbeaten player Daniel Flynn in third place. As expected the opening leg was tight Dan had first pop to take the leg but missed and George cool as a cucumber picked off 32 in two darts to lead. Daniel raised his game in leg two and made no mistake this time and took the leg to level. Both matched each other for scores and both matched each other at the finishing, both missing several times, but George held as usual to take the win and keep his lead and is now the only player in all divisions with a 100 percent record for winning. Match two saw Suzy Watson face Lee Dickinson. This was a good even match just the doubles separated them but it was Lee who was the stronger on them and picked them off to take a good 3-0 win. Angie Upsall then took on Louise Charalambou. A tense opener saw both players having a torrid time on the doubles. Eventually it was Angie who held to lead 1-0. The next two legs saw Angie score the better and no messing this time on the doubles and Angie wrapped up a 3-0 win. The fourth game was between Richard Attwell and Tom Nuttall. Richard just edging leg one. Momentum was with Richard and a 93 set up double eight, which Richard picked off in one dart to lead 2-0. Tom responded well in leg 3 and just did enough to pull one back but a 2-1 win for Richard. Second placed Bryan Robson was next to the oche facing Alison Royal. Ali was up for the challenge and pushed Bryan all the way in leg one and held first to take the lead. Alison had her chance to take the next leg but Bryan took the opportunity to level setting up a decider. Very close in the last but it was Ali who was the stronger at the finish and picked of 50 in 2 for a 2-1 win. The sixth game of the night saw Darren Bierley take on Adam Kemp. The latter showed steady form and proved just the more consistent for Darren and eased to a 3-0 win. Emma Grant then played Ben Porter. An up and down opener which either could have took but it was Ben who held to lead. Both were more improved in leg two Emma the more consistent and finishing well to to level the match. Ben battled on but Emmas form was firm, a couple of nervy attempts to finish first but third attempt saw Emma make no mistake and won the game 2-1 which still leaves her in fifth spot. The final game of the night saw Tina Willicombe take on Di Jenkins. After a long tense leg one, which saw both miss their doubles several times, it was Di who emerged to take double one to lead. That spurred Di into action in a bid to raise her game. Tina was hanging in there waiting for the slip up but Di was solid this time and 34 in two darts put Di 2-0 up. Tina battled back in leg three and had chances to pull one back but a miss too many gave Di the chance to seal things. But Di missed two and Tina picked off the double one to salvage a point. A good win for Di who stays in sixth. |

Round-up
for week ending October 19
Boston Standard Premier League After a week off, the action resumed. Getting things
under way were Jamie Robson and Dan Martin. Jamie started the more consistent
and soon opened up a 1-0 lead. That soon turned into a 2-0 advantage. Dan raised
his game in leg three and pulled one back. Jamie then extended his lead to
3-1 with a steady leg. Leg five was the best for Jamie rattling off ton, ton,
ton, 45 and 56 in three darts for a 4-1 win and lifting him up to third spot.
The second game of the night saw Graham Sharp take on Harry Lee. Harry looked
comfortable in the opening leg but poor finishing let Graham sneak in to take
the leg. Graham upped his game in leg two and took it in 19 darts to lead
2-0. Harry responded in the next game and pulled a leg back. Then Graham
nearly blew the next leg after missing a 120 checkout and missing tops with
another six darts. Harry had one dart to pinch it but missed and Graham held
on to lead 3-1. Harry hit back with an 18-darter to pull another back. A good
leg followed from both but Graham was first to the finish and checked well to
take the match 4-2. Next into action was Bob Mountain and Debra Royal. Both
were steady in leg one and it was Bob who just edged it. A cracking leg from
Deb in leg two picking off scores of ton, 60 a 180, 97 and 64 game shot in
two darts for a 14-darter. Both were firing at their best in leg three. Bob
was first to the finish and pickled off a 68 checkout. And it was non-stop
from them both in leg four. Deb left 81 but Bob was hot on the doubles and
picked off 74 to lead 3-1. Bob just had the edge in the next leg and finished
well again to take the game 4-1. That good win for Bob took him to second
place. The fourth game was the closest of the night. Martyn Palmer and Derek
Johnson battled it out. Martyn hit a maximum in leg one but that didn’t deter
Derek as he banged in 140 and ton to keep the pressure on Martyn. And it
worked as Martyn missed his double and Derek stepped in to pick off 64 in
three darts. Both battled in leg two and it was Derek who was finishing well
and took a 2-0 lead. Both continued their good scoring in the next leg but
Martyn was not on form at the business end and Derek was still picking off
the doubles of and made it 3-0. Martyn found the double spot in leg four and
pulled one back. The fifth leg was the best leg of the match both banging the
scores in. Derek picked of a 156 followed by 139 to leave double eight.
Martyn missed an 82 finish. Derek stepped up to win the match but missed his
chance and Martyn just picked off 32 in three darts. So back to 3-2. And that
spurred Martyn in to great form, hitting 100, 140, 134, 102 and 25 in two
arrows for a 14-darter to level the match setting up a nervy decider. Both
matched each other well score for score, Martyn having the arrows left 40 as
Derek left 106. But Martyn held his nerve to pick tops of in two darts to
snatch victory. A good game from Derek and despite the loss, a valuable three
points. That win for Martyn lifted him to top slot for the first time, but
can he hold on to it? To the oche next were Daley Richardson and Tony
Hillyard. Daley won the bull and with some steady tons picked up the opener.
The next three legs were very close but it was Tony who was checking out well
and soon went 3-1 up. Daley responded well and pulled one back. A good leg
from Tony followed but he nearly blew it with some lose finishing, Daley had
one chance but missed and Tony stepped in this time double two in one dart
for a 4-1 win. The final game of the night was between Graham Sharp and Dave
Hasnip. Dave on good form started in great form picking of 140 followed by a
180 and soon led. Graham responded with a 180 in leg two and consistent good
scores saw Graham draw level. A steady leg from both in the next, Graham just
having the edge thanks to a couple of bounce-outs from Dave. Graham missed a
112 finish but next throw he picked off 20 in one dart to lead 2-1. Dave then
levelled the match hitting a 136 to just miss double 19 for a 155 and picked
off the finish with Graham trailing. Graham got his form back for leg five as
Dave again found the wires for a couple more bounce-outs that eased Graham to
a 3-2 lead. Graham kept the pressure on Dave as both scored well. It was
Graham’s night though as Dave again had a couple more bounce outs, costly too
but Graham was hitting the red bit consistently. Graham missed the bull for a
122 and then Dave missed his shot of 48 and Graham stepped in to finish on 25
in two darts to take a big win. Dave now is fifth but just two points behind
the leader with a game in hand. Graham moved out of the bottom two and moves
up to seventh. Lincs Racing Championsship Rob Scrupps took on Mick Flynn in the first game of the
night. Mick was off to a flying start hitting ton, 140, ton, 97, a “no score”
and 64 in two darts to lead. Mick was too strong in the next and checked out
on 85 for a 2-0 lead. Rob’s steady form came back and pulled on back. Leg
four was really close but Rob had the edge and checked well to level the
match, but Mick got his form back and eased to a 3-2 victory. Pedro Pete
Silva and Dennis Turner had a good long battle going all the way and Pete
held his nerve in the decider and picked off 32 in one to take victory 3-2.
Next up were Kev Dickinson and Rick Woods. They also battled out a
five-legger, both having chances for victory. But it was Rick’s night as he
found the winning double in leg five for a 3-2 win. Mick Flynn was back to
the oche this time up against Dick Taylor. Mick won the bull, a good opener
from both players, Dick picked off a ton to leave 93 but a brilliant 133
finish from Mick gave him the early lead. Another good leg from both players
followed. Dick was first to the doubles but missed, then Mick missed and Dick
didn’t miss double eight and it was 1-1. Mick and Dick continued their good
form in leg three, Mick reached the double first and in one picked off 32 to
lead. Dick battled back but missed a 90 finish and Mick pounced on 64 in
three darts to win 3-1 that win moved Mick to the top of the table and top
average of the night of 20.49. Dennis Turner was also back to the oche for a
re-arranged match against Pete Johnson. Both were scoring steady in the first
three legs but both were off on the doubles and it was Dennis who emerged
into a 2-1 lead. A scrappy fourth leg, but Pete just edged it and found the
double to level the game. Both matched each other, but Dennis got an early
lead and was first to the finish, but Dennis could not find the double bed
and Pete stepped in finishing on tops and picked up his second and good win.
Young Jim Birtwhistle was next on. He faced Rob Scrupps, back for another
game. Both were on and in good form and it was a case of who could hit the
doubles first. It was Rob who came up trumps and took victory 3-0. The last
game of the night saw Elaine Cork take on Pete Johnson. Elaine was in good
form and Pete battled hard too. Elaine picked off double 16 in one to take
the opener. Pete responded with a good leg and a 64 finish saw Pete level the
match. Back came Elaine, steady form and a 121 to leave 32 was enough tio
take the lead again. The fourth leg saw Elaine bang in two tons and 81 to
leave 177 after 12 darts with Pete trailing. But Pete battled all the way and
Elaine was struggling to finish the match off. And as Pete caught Elaine up, he
also could not find the elusive double to level. Elaine got another shot and
held well to take a good victory 3-1. So with these results tonight Kev drops
to second and Mick moves up to first. Pedro moves to third and Rick stays in
fourth and Bob Birwhistle who didn’t play drops down to fifth, still very
tight though. John Smiths Challenge League League leader George Harness took on third placed Lee Dickinson in the first match of the night. George was just the steadier in the opening leg and a fine 52 finish saw George into the lead. Lee raised his game in leg two and pushed George all the way but both were a miss on the doubles but young hand George was first to hold and went 2-0 up. The third leg was again close and could have gone either way but George found the double to give him the win 3-0 and remains unbeaten while for Lee it was his first loss. Match two saw Bryan Robson and Richard Attwell battle out a good close match. Richard was back from having hand troubles and picked off a 136 to leave 41 but Bryan was up for the job and picked off a cracking 98 finish to take the lead. Richard didn’t get a shot at the doubles in leg one but had several in leg two and just couldn’t pick ’em off and Bryan nipped in to take the second leg. Leg three was another good scoring game both dart for dart. Bryan hit 83 to leave 32. Richard missed a 63 finish and one dart from Bryan was enough to wrap up the match 3-0. Up for action and to the oche next were Emma Grant and Richard Wakefield. An up and down leg from both players saw Emma hit 124 to leave 4. Richard left 57 both then missed but Emma returned to pick off double one for the lead. Emma sealed the win in leg two as Richard let Emma in missing his doubles again. Richard to the third leg to pull a point back, but a good win for Emma to stay in fifth place. The last newcomer to come into the Friday night league is Tom Nuttall. Tom made his debut against Lee Dickinson. A nervy start for Tom in leg one as Lee eased to a 1-0 lead. The next leg saw Tom find some form and steadier scoring to push Lee all the way, but Tom missed 54 to level and Lee held to finish on 15 in two darts. The third leg was the best leg from Lee, picking off scores of ton, 135 back to back to leave 81 after 15 darts. Tom responded with 120, 78 to put pressure on and it worked as Lee bust on 20 four times and after busting on 74 Tom finally picked it of to get his first point, but that 2-1 win for Lee moved him to fourth just a few behind the leaders. An all-woman clash was up next between Angie Upsall and Diane Jenkins. A good scoring game from both ladies a ton and an 89 from Angie set up a 40 finish and Angie picked it off to lead. Di upped her game in leg two and eased to level the match. So to a decider. Di set off to a good start with 93 but Angie’s back to back 92s followed by a couple of 60s eased Angie to 120 with Di back on 257. Another 60 followed to leave 60 but Angie ran out of steam and could not finish it of and Di battle down and picked of 36 in one for victory 2-1. The next match was between Ali Royal and Adam Kemp. A couple of tons eased Adam to the finish but it was Alison who battled back and could hit the double to take the leg. It was the same story in leg two, Adam out scoring Ali but its doubles that count and Ali made them count and sealed the win. Adam never gave up and continued to score well and picked up a vital point. But a good win for Ali and she moved up to ninth. The final game of the night saw Bryan Robson return to the oche, facing new boy Tom Nuttall back for his second game of the season. An nervy erratic game from both in leg one, Tom first to the doubles but missed and Bryan sneaked in to lead. A better leg from both followed this time Tom found the double to level. Tom had the arrows and started with 73. Bryan replied with a ton, steady scores followed until Bryan upped the ante picking off scores of 81, 140 to leave 79 after 18 darts with Tom trailing on 205, but then the wheels fell off as Bryan couldnt find a double for 8 throws and Tom gradually caught up but missed his first chance and with a big sigh Bryan picked of the 16 finish for victory. That important winning leg moved Bryan to second place he also had top average of 17.27 and top checkout for the night of 98. |

Round-up
for week ending October 5
For the first time in 20 years the Shodfriars Friday
Night Individual Dart League had to move venue, due to the Shodfriars Hall
Club being sold. The new venue is the sister club Boston Snooker Centre in
Artillery Row. Despite the move, all players were happy with the new venue
and it did not affect the standard of
darts or calibre and turnout of the players. Boston Standard Premier League The opening match saw Dave Hasnip take on Debra Royal. A
102 finish from Dave secured the opener, followed by 71 as Deb left 64. Deb
still pushed Dave in leg three but Dave was in top form and picked off 32 in
one dart for a 3-0 lead. Deb then clicked into gear and rattled in 18 and 17
dart legs to pull back to 3-2. And she kept the form going but Dave matched
Deb all the way and finished on 55 for an 18-darter for a 4-2 victory. He is
still unbeaten and moved back up to second place. Second game of the night
was between Jamie Robson and Daley Richardson. Jamie is just starting to
click and getting more consistent. He raced into a 3-0 lead. Daley was not
far behind in the legs. Daley then found his form and picked off the doubles
and pulled the next two legs back. But Jamie found his best leg of the night
in the next one — an 18-darter as Jamie finished on 115 for victory and moved
him up to fifth. Up to the oche for action next was Tony Hillyard and Kev
Lenton. Kev took the opening leg only to see Tony hit back in leg two. Tony
extended his lead in the next leg. Leg four was a cracker from both. Tony
left 170 after 12 darts and Kev left 76. A width of a wire denied Tony the
top checkout of 170, and Kev stepped in to level the match. In the next leg
Tony was first to the finish and checked out well to lead 3-2. Tony was
flying high in leg six when picking off 123, 100, 125, 1178, 19 and 16 in one
dart for a 16-darter to wrap up a 4-2 victory. Graham Sharp took on Bob
Mountain in the next contest. An up and down game from both. Finishes of 92,
66, and 112 helped Graham on the way to a first win of 4-2. Defending
champion Mrtyn Palmer was in good form against Harry Lee. Martyn raced into a
3-0 lead and 4-0 looked on the cards, but Harry picked off a 180 to help
Harry pull one leg back. Martyn missed his doubles but he wasn’t ruffled and
hit a 180 and a 116 finish for a 15-darter for a 4-1 victory putting him up
to second in the table. The final game of the night was a really good match
between Derek Johnson and Daley Richardson. The first leg was just edged by
Daley when then went 2-0 up as he picked off 345 in just eight darts.
Undeterred, Derek battled on and found his form with a 19-darter. Daley
responded in style by picking off 85, 180, 81, 125 and 30 in two darts for a
14-darter to lead 3-1. Again Derek responded with steady darts and good
finishing in legs five and six to pull back to 3-3. So to a deciding leg.
Daley won the bull and just picked off the bigger shots and finished on 20 in
one dart for a 4-3 win as Derek waited for a chuck on 116. Lincs Racing Championship It was good to see Rob Scrupps back in the league. Rob
took on Kev Dickinson for the first game of the night in an up and down game
from both players. Doubles separated the two as it went to the fifth deciding
leg, and Rob started in style picking off 171 and good form left him on 95
after 15 darts with Kev struggling behind. But Rob could not pick off his
double for the win and let Kev get back into it, and take the win 3-2. Elaine
Cork and Pedro Silva were next to the oche. Very close in the opening leg,
Elaine having three darts at the double after Pedro missed. But he didn’t
miss the next attempt and led 1-0. Pedro was in charge in leg two and eased
to a 2-0 lead. But Elaine battled hard in leg three and just missed 56
finish, but Pedro held on 60 checkout for the 3-0 win. League leader Bob
Birtwhistle then took on older brother Jimmy Birtwhistle. Bob started the
stronger but slowed up at the end of the leg and a ton-plus at the right time
from Jimmy set up a finish which he took to lead. Leg two was closer but
Jimmy’s experience helped him at the finish and 44 in two darts was 2-0 up.
Bob then upped his form and soon raced to 90, but Jimmy was with him and left
32. But Bob picked off a 90 finish
the highest of the night to pull one back. Jimmy not rattled held well in the
last for a 3-1 win. Game four was between Redvers Dickinson and Mick Flynn. A
really tight game went to a fifth leg which Mick took well to take a 3-2 win
with the highest average of 18.12 and a 180 in the match, too. Mick moves up
to sixth position. Nephew Kev Dickinson followed up against Dick Taylor.
Another close fought contest again another five-legger which Dick took for a
3-2 win and a move up to fifth place, while Kev’s two points and his points
from earlier games moved him to top slot. The final game saw Pedro Silva back
to the oche and also moving up to second place, after picking up a 3-1 win
over Rick Woods, which was his first loss, in a good match. John Smiths Challenge League There were nine matches this week. Tina Willicombe
picked up her second win as she beat Susie Watson 2-1 in the opening match.
Game two saw Lee Dickinson take on Angie Upsall, Lee just edging it 2-1.
League leader George Harness maintained his unbeaten run only just though as
George won 2-1 against Susie Watson. Angie returned to the oche to face
Daniel Flynn another close match that went 2-1 to Daniel, with him getting
the top average of 13.75. Bryan Robson is the one to watch this season as he
is climbing up the table quite quickly. Bryan took on Chris Limb and won 3-0
and also took on Ben Porter for another 3-0 win. These six points moved him
up to fourth position. Alison Royal and Louise Charalambou had a really close
battle but it was Ali who took the win of 2-1 to move her up to 10th
position. Diane Jenkins moved up the table to seventh position thanks to a
good win over bottom of the table Darren Bierley. The final game of the
night, which didn’t go on until about 10.45pm, saw Chris Limb and Emma Grant
at the oche. Throw for throw most of the time apart from when Chris got zero
after throwing three darts. Em just the better at finishing and checked out
on 40, and leg two one dart at 26 put Em up 2-0. Chris had his chances though
just like in the last leg, but Em held on after both players had numerous
darts at double one to win 3-0. NOTE: There are no matches on Friday October 12 to avoid
a clash with finals night for the Old Leake Darts League. There will be a committee
meeting on October 19. All elected representatives should attend at 7pm
prompt. |

Round-up for week ending September 28 Boston Standard Premier League First up to the oche to get proceedings under way were
Tony Holland and Harry Lee. The first leg was steady, Tony having the edge to
lead. Tony then upped his game and rattled off 18 ,20 and 20-dart legs to
wrap up a good 4-0 win and the highest average for the night with a 25.05. It
was a win that lifted Tony to the top of the table. Next up were Bob Mountain
and Martyn Palmer, the latter looking to get his winning runs back on track
after two defeats already. But Bob had other ideas. He started the stronger
and took the opening leg. Then Bob picked off a 180 as Martyn was in ton
mode. Martyn missed his 41 finish and Bob went two-up by picking off 90 in
three darts. Martyn picked off a 180 in leg three with Bob in hot pursuit.
But poor finishing by Martyn let Bob in for a 3-0 lead. Martyn was facing
defeat and raised his game as champions do. And 18 darts later he got one
back. Leg five was a cracker from both. Martyn left 239 after nine darts to
Bob’s reply of 60, 140, 140, leaving 161. But Bob had six loose darts and
Martyn pounced to pull another back. Bob was battling in leg six but Martyn was
in the zone and banged in a 14-darter, finishing on 66 in two darts to level
the match. The deciding leg was really close and tense both feeling the
pressure, but first to the finish first was Martyn. He picked off 68 in two
darts to pick up a great 4-3 comeback win. After that result Martyn moved up
to fourth and Bob up to second. The third game of the night saw Jamie Robson
take on Kev Lenton. This was a close fought match. Both players were up and
down on their form, but it was Jamie that was more consistent and was
checking out well and ran out a 4-2 winner, and picked off a 70 finish, the
night’s highest at the right time as well as a 180. The last game of the
night was between Derek Johnson and Tony Holland. Tony brought his good form
from his earlier match and Derek matched him all the way. A 180 with his
first throw set the standard which Tony maintained a long with his finishing
as Derek left good finishes but didn’t get a look in as Tony ran out with
another 4-0 victory to extend his lead to five points. Lincs Racing Championship Rick Woods moved up to second spot. In the opening game
of the night he played in a cracking match with Redvers Dickinson. Both
players were in great form but Rick was checking out superbly and ran out a
3-1 winner with the night’s best average of 20.32. Later in the evening,
Redvers was back in action. This time it was father versus son up against Kev
Dickinson. Another good match saw both matching each other and it went to the
deciding leg. Redvers had the edge and was first to the finish but couldn’t
finish it off and Kev nipped in with a 49 finish to take the match 3-2. This
win moved Kev to third just above his dad in fourth spot. Dick Taylor and
Pedro Silva also played a good close match, but it was Dick who had the upper
hand this time and pulled off a 3-1 victory. A 60 checkout was the highest of
the night. Mick Flynn took on Jimmy Birtwhistle. The opening leg was
well-contested, both scoring consistently. Mick had the first pop at the
double but missed tops, and Jimmy stepped in with a great 68 finish to lead.
Jimmy had the arrows in leg two and kept his good form as did Mick. Again
Mick was down to the finish first leaving 92 after 15 darts. Some loose darts
let Jimmy close in but then both missed their doubles but Jimmy held on next
throw to lead 2-0. Both still kept the high scoring going. Mick picked off a
137 to leave double 1 but “mad house” got him and Jimmy was the better
checker on the night and finished on 40 in two darts to take a great 3-0 win,
Jim’s first of the season. Bob Birtwhistle remains top of league. He had to
take on Elaine Cork who pushed the league leader all the way, and took the
opening leg. Bob took the next to level at 1-1. A 140 in leg three for Elaine
just gave her the edge and she checked out well to go in front again. Bob
responded in style picking of a 17-darter to level again. So it was all on
the deciding leg and the momentum was with Bob as Elaine could not find the
trebles and Bob eased to 48 and checked out in three darts to take the match
3-2. John Smiths Challenge League The opening game saw league leader George Harness take on Chris Limb. The first leg was close but George held on at the finish as he picked off 40 in two darts. George raised his game in the next two legs and Chris could not respond this time and George took the match 3-0 with the highest average 18.32 and highest finish of 57 for the night. That also extended George’s lead at the top to four points. Next into action was Tina Willicombe and Darren Bierley. A tight close match, all about who could hit the doubles as both missed several chances for points. Tina was the one that found them as she picked up her first win of the season winning 2-1. Adam Kemp moved up to fourth spot when winning both his matches. Adam first played Bryan Robson. The latter had his chances but Adam checked out the better to win 2-1. Later Adam played Ben Porter. Another close match again saw lots of missed doubles. But Adam took those that were taken for a 3-0 win. Darren Bierley was back in action up against Daniel Flynn. It was Daniel Flynn who was more consistent and found the doubles to won 3-0. Alison Royal picked up her second win of the season as she took on Di Jenkins. Both battled hard at scoring and finishing but Ali was the more consistent and took the match 2-1. The final game of the night saw Bryan Robson back in action, taking on Richard Wakefield. Bryan was in fine form in leg one picking up a ton and 140 back-to-back to take the first leg. Richard battled back in leg two as Bryan again hit two ton-pluses back-to-back. But Richard failed to hit the double and Bryan found his to lead 2-0. The final leg again was close, but Bryan had the edge and checked out first time to take the match 2-1. |

Round-up
for week ending September 14
Boston Standard Premier League What an opening match for week three. Debra Royal took
on defending champion Martyn Palmer and exerted pressure right from the off.
It worked as Martyn missed his first shot at the double as Deb stepped in to
lead. Both were at a finish after 12 darts in leg two, this time Deb missed
the chance and Martyn levelled. A 114 checkout in leg three saw Deb retake
the lead. Martyn missed tops in the next leg, allowing Deb to calmly check
out on 68 to lead 3-1. Martyn rallied back in the next with an 18-darter as
Deb left 81. Deb kicked off leg six with scores of 140, 100, pressurising
Martyn which gave Deb a lead. But Martyn hit back with 100, 140 to leave 76
and Deb was left with left 14 from a 104 finish. Martyn missed and left Deb
to pick off double four to secure an impressive 4-2 victory. You have to go
back to February 2006 for the last time Martyn lost a game — the end of a
truly an impressive run. Deb’s average was 23.24 with her also taking the
highest checkout of the night on 114. Newly-promoted Daley Richardson was
making his debut in the Premier League. Daley faced the experienced
hard-fighting Kev Lenton. An impressive start in leg one saw Daley ease to
one up. Daley kept his form in leg two as Kev battled and waited for the
slip-up. But Daley was strong and held on to lead 2-0. But Kev ground back
with some good consistent scoring and checked out well to pull one back. Kev
levelled things by taking leg four. Daley had the arrows in the fifth and was
back in the lead. Both Kev and Daley scored highly in leg six and it was a
case of “to and fro” at the doubles as both missed a couple of early chances,
but Daley found the double bed to pull up his first win of the season taking
a 4-2 win having an 20.60 average. Bob Mountain then took on Tony Holland.
There was a very tight opening leg, both hitting 140 at the right time to
leave 48 and 49. But Bob had first pop and picked off 48 to lead 1-0. Leg two
was just as close, Tony was first to the finish and checked out in one dart
on 32 to level things up. Going with the arrows again in leg three, Bob
picking off 60 in two darts as Tony left 32. In leg four Tony was scoring the
higher. And with no messing about at the finish, Tony levelled it again. It
looked like going with the arrows again but Bob failed to check out on 86.
Here, Tony made no mistake with an excellent 95 finish in two darts to take
the lead for the first time. Leading 3-2, Tony then had the darts, scoring
140, 100, 60, 60, 124 to Bob’s 125, 60, 125, 80, 48, leaving 63. But Tony
held on with a good first dart at 24 to pick up a good 4-2 win and an
16-darter. Tony’s average was 24.14 (best on the night) to Bob’s 23.20. Lincs Racing Championship Dick Taylor and Dennis Turner got the night’s action under
way. It was Dennis who took the initiative as Dick missed his chances. This
obviously kicked Dick into action as he picked off the scores and collected a
70 finish, the highest of the night, to leave Dennis way back on 265 and to
level the match. With momentum on his side, Dick continued his form as Dennis
faltered at the end of leg three and Dick picked off 40 in two darts to lead
2-1. Dennis battled hard in the next but Dick was just too handy for him and
picked off another 70 finish to wrap up the match the match with an 3-1
victory and Dennis first lost. Dick’s average of 17.51 was the night’s
highest. Rick Woods and Elaine Cork were up next, both their first night at
the oche, A nervy opener for both, but it was Elaine who held on first to
take a 1-0 lead. That settled Elaine and she played consistently and soon
made it 2-0. That must have got to Rick who picked up his form to edge leg
three and pull one back. That settled Rick down and got better to level the
match 2-2. Both were really up for it in the decider. After nine darts
apiece, both sat on 261. Rick then hit a great 140, Elaine trying but missing
the trebles. Rick was setting up the finish as Elaine powered back and left
double four as Rick missed 20. But Rick stepped in to take a good match from
both 3-2. Rick’s average was 16.30. Mick Flynn then took on Pete Johnson.
Both fired well in the opener, but both misfired at the finish. Mick got his
timing back to take the opener. Mick was just the stronger in leg two. There
were no slips this time and he checked out well to lead 2-0. Pete battled
back as he always does but could not nail the finish as Mick gave him a shot.
So Mick wrapped it up on eight for a 3-0 victory with an average of 14.31.
The last game saw Elaine Cork back to the oche, this time against Kev
Dickinson. Both were steady at the start and both were shaky at the finish
but Elaine was the cooler and held on to lead 1-0. Same again from both in
leg two and again it was Elaine who held firm to take the spoils. Kev was
banging them in in leg three and Elaine replied, but the doubles were hard to
find again for Kev and Elaine ripped in to take a great 3-0 win with an
average of 14.88. John Smiths Challenge League To the oche first were Lee Dickinson and Alison Royal.
Ali struggled to get going in leg one as Lee surged to the finish. But a
couple of misses let Ali back in. However, he just missed and Lee made no
mistake this time and checked out to lead. Ali raised her game this time and
pushed Lee all the way. She was first to the finish but missed double 15 and
Lee checked out on 42 in two darts to lead 2-0. Lee pushed on in leg three
only to see Ali fight back. As Lee missed his first chance, Ali had the
chance to pull one back but could not get that double, and Lee picked off 18 to
wrap up a 3-0 win with an average of 14.59, the night’s highest. The next
match was going to be a tough match for George Harness as he took on Angie
Upsall. George showed his form and eased to a 1-0 lead. George battled hard
in leg two and left 94 with Angie not far behind. George could not finish it
off. Angie rallied back and once there also couldn’t finish. Both had several
chances to steal it but it was George who held first to lead 2-0. Angie then
battled back in leg three and left 36 but George picked off a superb 74
finish in two darts to wrap up a 3-0 victory and inflict Angie’s first loss.
George picked up highest finish for night with 74. Susie Watson picked up a
3-0 victory but it could have been different as her opponent Darren Bierley
matched her score for score. Both scoring well but they both struggled to
finish, but Susie held on best for victory. Next up was Daniel Flynn and Tina
Willicombe. A good opening leg from Daniel saw him race into a 1-0 lead.
Daniel maintained his strong form in leg two and managed to finish first.
Tina battled on in leg three as Daniel scored well again. But double trouble
struck again for Dan and Tina should have taken advantages but couldn’t do it
and Daniel found double one for a 3-0 win. Emma Grant kept her winning run
going as she took on Adam Kemp. Emma took a close fought first leg and did
the same in leg two as Adam missed his chances. Adam battled back in the
third leg, checking out at the first time of asking to pull one back as Emma
took the match 2-1. Match five saw Ben Porter and Diane Jenkins battle out a
good three-legger. Ben took the opening leg but Diane fought back in leg two
and picked off 32 in one dart to level the match. So to a decider. Both
matched each other dart for dart, and it was Di who got to the finish first
but could not pick off tops. Then Ben missed 28. Di missed again, but only
just, but Ben in one took the match 2-1, Another nip and tuck match followed
between Richard Wakefield and Louise Charalambou, both scoring steadily but both
equally could not find the doubles. Louise took the opener and finished well
in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Richard kept going and was rewarded in the
third leg as Louise ran out her first 2-1 win. The final game of the night
saw Chris Limb take on Tina Willicombe who was back for more action. Tina was
edged the first leg and was first to the doubles with a bit of a lead and
should have sealed it. But it was Chris who finished on 16 to lead. Leg two
saw both players score solidly but none of them wanted to win it. But this
time, Chris found his double to lead this match. The best leg was the last
leg, both scoring well. Tina just kept in front, Tina gave Chris a chance at
a finish but double five was elusive and Tina picked off 19 in three darts
for a consolation leg, Chris winning 2-1. Chance to play “the Power” Do you want the chance to play Phil “The Power” Taylor? Well, thanks to Coors Brewery, Worthington’s Smooth Bitter are holding their second annual competition. Last year players from Boston and surrounding areas played off at the Labour Club and the final play-offs at the Sports Bar resulted in eight winners going to Lincoln to play Phil Taylor. This year’s qualifier (the only one in Boston) will be held at the Flying Club on Monday September 17 with a 7pm prompt registration. The qualifiers go to Peterborough to battle out the finals to play Phil. All are welcome. Contact the Flying Club on 01205 353760 to register. |
