REPORTS ARCHIVE 2005-2006

Week ending February 19:

Martin White was the lone representative for the Yello Velo-Bodycare-Don White Cycles team in the Alford Wheelers' reliability trial on February 19.

The 50-mile route started and finished in Alford, making its way through the Wolds and taking in all the main climbs. Martin pedalled off with the fastest early group which saw a speedy pace being set. The initial average speed was 21mph. He went on to complete the event in two hours and 40 minutes.

On February 18, Yello Velo’s Charlie Porter represented the East Midlands team in the final Revolution meeting of the year. This was held at Manchester Velodrome and Charlie found the going tough on the night, having - due to illness - missed 10 days’ training.  However, he still managed to finish in the main group in all three of his races. But he didn't quite have the stamina to repeat his perfomances at previous meetings.

The following day Charlie ventured across to Wales for a seven-day training camp with the British Cycling Olympic Talent Programme as part of their preparation for the forthcoming road-racing season.

Week ending February 12:

Riders from the Yello Velo-Bodyare-Don White Cycles team are gearing up for a new season of racing action by taking part in a number of training sessions.  Sundays see a variety of club runs ranging from hill training, off-road training and road rides. On Tuesday evenings, the programme of events includes a regular road ride from the Post Office in Wide Bargate at 6.30pm. Wednesdays see circuit training at Bodycare Personal Training, Fountain Lane in Boston, starting from 6.45pm.

Last week, Charlie Porter made his cross-country excursion to compete in the Manchester Regional Track League. But he gained little in the way of success. He decided to experiment with a variety of tactics in his five races. But none really worked out. His best effort was seventh place in the devil-take-the-hindmost event.   Club members are reminded that the Yello Velo annual meeting takes place on February 20 at the Princess Royal Sports Arena with a 7pm start.
