November 20:
The latest Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross League event was
held on November 20 was held at Woodhall Spa. After the heavy frost overnight
the ground was rock hard and it was a bitterly cold morning. However, the Saint family were keen to ride and Pippa

this setback she soon remounted to be first girl in the group and fourth
overall. In the under-12s event, Lennox was again first past the
post with younger brother Jake taking 16th place. Joining them this week for
their first rides in cyclo-cross were newcomers Luke and Danny Dymond who
made good attempts. The club is celebrating its 75th anniversary on the

One of the latest events in the Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross
League was hosted by Boston Wheelers Cycling Club at Tunnard Farm alongside
the River Witham. On a crisp and fine early winter morning members of the
Wheelers did well for themselves. In the youth race for under-16s spanning 30 minutes,
riders climbed the river bank section several times and finally finishing on
level ground. Pippa Saint was again the first girl to finish and best in the
under-14s. In the under-12s event of 15 minutes the race was mainly
across fields and through trees. Once again Lennox Saint had another good win
while young brother Jake rode hard and young Briony finished among the later
group. Halfords Ltd were sponsors of the event for this category
and awards for first, second and third were given. First girl was Katie Ward
of VC Lincoln and runner-up behind Lennox, was Scott Weekley of VC Lincoln.

November6:
Hubbard Hills at Louth was where all the action took
place on Sunday for the latest leg of the Lincolnshire Cyclo Cross League. After heavy rain it was a muddy course and that meant a
change of bike during the race for some riders. One of those taking part in
the under-16s event was Pippa Saint of Boston Wheelers who rode well to
finish in seventh place overall. This group had the same course as the senior event and
half-way through she needed a change of bike. But she was still the first
girl to finish and the second rider under-14. Lennox Saint in the under-12s
race was again in top form. The group’s riding took them part way through the
main course, over a deep ditch followed by a long drag uphill and back
through a cow-splattered field. A good strong ride from him gave him another
win. Youngsters Jake Saint (5) and Briony Saint (7) rode in
the 15 minutes event and finished in 15th and 18th place from the 19 riders
entered. This Sunday the event is organised and run by Boston Wheelers in the
capable hands of Ken Syrett and members of the club. |
