For week ending June 22
At the mid-way stage of the season Wyberton
increased their lead at the top of Division One after a 10-0 win on their
home green against Horncastle. Burton House gained an 8-2 win when facing
Stickney on their Wainfleet Road green and in the process crept up into
second place on shot difference over Sleaford Road who only managed to win
6-2 when playing Freiston on the Peck Avenue green. The Sun Castle, playing
on the Foreshore, beat Kirton 10-0 to keep them in a comfortable position in
mid-table. No result was received for Foreshore versus BBC, but it is
understood a 6-4 win was recorded on the Robin Hood's Walk green.
Division Two saw Norprint beating Wrangle on the Forbes Road green by an 8-2
margin, thus cutting Wrangle’s lead at the top to nine points. West End again
came unstuck when playing West Skirbeck when only managing to win on one rink
and losing 8-2. BBC 2 (versus Skegness Town) failed to raise a team and duly forfeit
five points and 15 shots as per league rule. Skegness Town will receive an
average number of points at the end of the season based on their results
through the season (rule 51 b) in the league book.

For week ending May 11
The new Boston and Skegness EBA Bowls League
season started off with the first week featuring just Division One matches.
Last year’s champions Wyberton started where they left off in 2006 with a
good result when playing Sleaford Road. The defending title-holders won 8-2.
Newly-promoted Sun Castle also got off to a good start with an 8-2 result
against Stickney, who, after a poor season last year, seem to be finding it
difficult to string together a good run of results. Kirton, who were promoted
last year, also made a struggling start when losing 9-1 at Horncastle, their
lone point coming from the rink skipped by T Nixon.
Freiston made a good start by chalking up an 8-2 victory at BBC. Elsewhere,
Foreshore entertained Burton House on the seafront green and won on two
rinks. However, they lost on the other rink 20-10 and dipped out on the
aggregate rewards by a four-shot margin.
The subsequent week of Division One action saw Kirton once again suffering a
heavy loss (beaten by 50 shots) when playing Burton House. R Vinter and
partners lost by 26 shots to A Bates, R Askey, A Powell and K Porter.
Sleaford Road made full use of home rink advantage to give the Sun Castle a
lesson in Division One life.
The shock of the night must have been achieved in the match that saw Wyberton
lose 6-4 against BBC, the latter winning the aggregate by just three shots.
Skip S Reeson’s rink lost to H Dowse, N Truepenny, J West and S Whyers’ set
by 27-13, contributing to the loss of the aggregate points by such a slender
margin.
Foreshore appear to be making home green advantage pay, taking all 10 points
when entertaining Horncastle. Meanwhile, there was another good win for
Freiston who beat Stickney 8-2.
In the first set of matches in Division Two, West End had an enjoyable game
against the friendly Wrangle team minus their captain Bill Young. West End
finally came out the victors by an 8-2 margin. West Skirbeck beat Skegness
Town 8-2 and BBC 2 only managed to get two points when playing Friskney.
Norprint picked up a good result away at Alford, winning on two rinks and
taking the aggregate by six shots overall.
