Week ending Sunday February 26: Ten track and field members of Boston and District
Athletic Club are entered in the North East Counties Indoor pentathlon
contests at Gateshead’s international stadium on Saturday March 18. Polishing
up their fitness and technical expertise in the indoor training area, the
combined event competitors will have an early season opportunity to test
their performance levels in a good standard of competition. Six Gold Tops are included in the Lincolnshire team for
the URA Inter-Counties Cross-County championships at Nottingham on March 11. Shaun
North, James Munn, Emily Moss, Craig Melvin, Aidan McClure and Jeremy Baily
are selected while Mark Tebbs, Danielle Ballam, Louise Rutt, Ashleigh
Frankish and Chelsea Ironmonger are all named as reserves for the competition
that includes the trials for the 2006 world championships. With only a few days to go to the closing date, more than 160 runners have submitted entries for March 5’s Friskney half-marathon road race. The event is ideally placed in the calendar to allow London Marathon entrants a good workout — with just seven weeks to go to the capital’s 26-mile challenge. Local organiser have received a significant entry from the Sheffield Hallam area and hope that the total entries will ruse further to nearer the 200 mark. The race on Sunday starts at Friskney Village Hall at 11am. |
